dylanpod
Apologies if this has been asked a million times, I'm just bad at phrasing my question. I have an idea for a mod, and as a first-time creator, I'm not sure if it's fine if you put music from bands and the like into your creations. I'm not sure if I'll even get that far into the mod process to add music in, but I have inspiration to, and some instrumentals that I have found would fit perfectly into what I'm envisioning. I just don't know if that's allowed? Like will the music publications get pissed about it? As a musician, I could probably make my own sounds but it would be a lot easier and would sound nicer if I could just use what I already found. Thanks in advance, and either way let's hope I keep motivation and see through my creation to the end.
HadToRegister
As long as the music isn't copyrighted stuff it's ok.Just make sure it's Public Domain, or "Royalty Free" otherwise, if you use copyrighted music, you'll get banned very fast. Radioactivelad
Kevin Mcleod's website and the Youtube Studio Audio library are good for sourcing copyright/royalty free songs and effects. Newgrounds as well, but make sure to check the exact permissions on a given work's page. Edited November 1, 2020 by Radioactivelad
dubiousintent
This comes up often enough I have just added the entry 'Issue - SOUND - Music Licenses and Sources' to the "Miscellaneous Solutions" section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article, to include an explanation of the key forms of license/copyright. -Dubious-
lerroycramp
It's allowed only only if your music is taken from free royalty library. I usually take it at Depositphotos website. The price is quite good, so you can download as much as possible.
TheGamingPaladin
not only would using copyrighted music get you banned, but you'd possibly have legal action taken against you as well, so if you're like making a custom radio station, best not to imply that you have anything copyright.so as other replies have mentioned, go for Royalty Free type stuff, plenty of that out there.
