Awsomonium
As an example of what I mean, in Skyrim (and Fallout 3 and New Vegas), you can hotkey equipment to the number bar (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). For example, In Skyrim, I would have my Helmet assigned to '7'. You could press '7' to both equip OR unequip it. For roleplaying purposes, I would frequently unequip and re-equip my helmet (like when I went indoors). In Fallout 4, I can hotkey an item to a number to equip it. However, I can't unequip it with the same hotkey. In order to do so, I have to go into my Pip-Boy to this manually everytime. It's especially noticeable here because conversations show your own character as well. So what I'm looking for is a mod to restore this "unequip with hotkey" functionality into Fallout 4. Does anyone have any mods to do this or could make one? If it's not possible for whatever reason, I'd like to know why, just out of curiosity. Thanks. Edit: I HAVE looked at both FO4 Hotkeys and Outfit Switcher. Neither of which do what I was looking for.
HadToRegister
You've never even searched for HOTKEY in the FO4 Mod Website? This one has been around since 2016, and is one of the most powerful Hotkey mods available along with his "Outfit Switcher" mod.Check out the "Search" feature on the Mod Website, it will find you all kinds of cool stuff.Hotkeyshttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11664

Hotkeyshttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11664I did, I've looked at BOTH of them, but I didn't read anything in the description of the mod that led me to believe that it did what I was looking for. I admit, I may have missed something. But from what I could gather: The first hotkeys entire outfits (not what I'm looking for) The other allows the hotkeys to be changed to any key, nothing about unequip-ing that I could find. (so also not what I was looking for.)

Pretty strange after 4 years...
AeroMachine
Was really hoping when I found this that it would be a mod by this point. Wish I could do it myself
ImmortalAbsol
There's a mod to hotkey your fists/unarmed, then obviously you can hold R to put them down.
Destrothocon
I'm also looking for a mod like this for the same reason, with a controller there are limited hotkeys with the d-pad so un-equiping a hotkeyed item with the same button would be helpful. Since this worked for Skyrim it ought to be possible in Fallout 4 as the game engine is the same. There are even spell effect and enchantment remnants in the game files.
