Bear attack

My friend and I were walking around the woods near our house and I saw a grizzly bear about a hundred feet or so standing with it's back to us. I stopped to avoid spooking it but my friend didn't even see it and continued walking. I whispered "Stop walking and turn around very slowly." He asked me why and I told him to just do it. He still continued to ask me why so I whispered "There's a bear over there." He shouted "WHERE?!" and scared the bear. The bear began charging towards him and knocked him over so I had to quickly get it to leave him alone. I got a big rock that was nearby and hit the bear in the head with it. The bear ran away and we went back inside the house. He scratch my friend's face up pretty good but didn't do to much damage. The lesson he hopefully learned from this is always do what you're told when you're in a dangerous situation.

This is what it did to his eye.

I live in Colorado Springs, and on rare occations, black bears do wander into the outskirts. A few times people have been attacked.
