K30OBL
Good afternoon: I had my vortex downloads folder set to a drive that is no longer operational. This causes constant error messages. I can't CHANGE the folder because it tries to copy everything over but it can't because the drive doesn't work. What i NEED is a way to completely purge everything as far as files and settings. I've tried to remove and reinstall but it remembered my previous settings. I tried the guide in the FAQ but because alot of the steps require Vortex to be open, it doesn't help. Once I can purge it completely I can use it again. Please help!!
K30OBL
Just to clarify, the biggest issue I have is that I need to move my downloads folder but it won't let me since the drive that I had it on doesn't exist so it constantly gives error messages and Vortex is very very laggy because of it. What I desperately need is a way to completely start over with Vortex with the DEFAULT download folder location. There HAS to be a way to do this. RIght?! HadToRegister
It Constantly gives you error messages when it's trying to move the drive.OK, what error messages is it giving, are the error messages for every mod it can't find, and if you continue to click through them it will eventually move the folder, or does it just keep giving the same error message over and over with no end in sight. The error messages themselves would be helpful. K30OBL
Here it is: "Accessing D: (internal hard drive that no longer works) failed with an error that indicates that the disk is defective. If it's a network or a cloud drive it may simply indicate temporary network or server problems. Please do not report this to us as it is a hardware problem" Then i have the option to ignore, cancel or retry. I KNOW it's hardware problem and that's what I'm trying to get around. When I TRY to move the folder to another drive, I get a similar error but this one only gives the retry option.
K30OBL
I finally got the other message to appear: the task bar says moving but doesn't list anything moving. Then, a message pops up and says the file directory is corrupt and unreadable. Error 1392. I realize this isn't an actual issue with Vortex but I can't understand why I can't re install it with the default folders so I that I can actually USE the program rather than having error messages popping up every few seconds. Also, I can't download mods at ALL in this condition.
HadToRegister
You can reinstall vortex all you want, but unless you eliminate the C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\VORTEX folder, you'll just keep all of the same settings. The settings (Download Folder etc) are located in that Vortex folder
K30OBL
Funny thing is, I'm also having issues with Origin showing blank tiles instead of my games in the library and a help topic online suggested exactly what you said! I then tried it for Vortex and it's working!! I just need to re scan my games. Thank you for your help! I KNEW I was missing something.
