Michlo
Greetings (and long time no speak), the past couple of Mount & Blade mods I've grabbed have downloaded really slowly. My internet speed is excellent: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2544224461.png, 49.45 MB/s down, 5.04 MB/s up. My current download is estimating 2 hours for an 810 MB download and is just crawling. I chose the premium US server.Anybody else reported similar?Cheers.
Nofsdad
Same here. All three of the servers reserved for premium members are much slower than the regular servers with the on in Kent, UK being the worst of the bunch. Not going to complain about not getting the higher speeds premium members are supposed to be getting because the other servers are pretty darned quick anyway but it almost seems that the bandwidth throttling got done on the premium servers instead of the others. That one in Kent has been 10-20 times slower than my old standbys in Salt Lake.
Michlo
Thanks for the reply, Nofsdad. Hah, I cancelled my download and changed to the Kent server. D'oh. I'll try one of the regular ones. Cheers.Edit - Wow, what a difference. Two minute estimate instead of two hours. :) Looks like Dark0ne has some work to do. heh Thanks again. Dark0ne
Unfortunately, when it comes to download speeds, they're highly dependent on a whole myriad of issues, many of which can be neither our fault or your fault, but the fault of the "hops" your connection takes to reach ours. And these can change regularly as ISP's and data centres update or change their infrastructure. What I can tell you is that lots of people are still downloading at fast speeds without any issues. And one of the reasons we have so many file servers is so that you guys have plenty of options when downloading. So if a file server is going slow for you, pick another and test it out. With 14 file servers available to Premium Members there should be one that works fast for you. And if not...then it might not be us...!
Wandik
Sadly, i have the same issues with downloading mods from premium servers. This is especially easy to see in NMM, when the mod hangs up for several (even 10s of) minutes before the download is finished. This happens for few past days, on both older NMM 44.3 and latest 44.4. I have stable cable connection with top DL rate 7mb/s, havent tried free servers yet, but the prblem with premium download happens in browser as well... as you can see on screenshot, this is the situation where DL stucks for several minutes (12 already and still continues...) http://i47.tinypic.com/ebbpcg.png anything i can do to help track the issue? Dark0ne
If it happens every single time on a Premium server, try one of the non-Premium servers and see it if happens there too. It will help us diagnose whether it's something specific to the Premium-only servers or whether it's happening for you on every server. I've just tried replicating your download myself. Same file (Soul Gems Differ), Kent UK premium server. Starts off on 4 threads at 1700kb/sec, my max speed, then drops to 1 thread (as the last chunk is downloaded) when I've downloaded 24MB of the 28MB and then finishes within 3 seconds from there. So I can't replicate the issue myself on my setup.
Wandik
I tried to vary the setup - but no matter the location or "choose only premium servers" option i choose to prefer, it always gets the file from Kent, UK server. I have also tried various threads count option, and there goes some interesting results. I have tried to DL the same file (soul gems differ) 10 times to see what happens - in 6 cases, the download stucked when number of threads lowered from 4 to 1 when the DL is close to finish (usually around 95 percent). When i set the number of threads to 1, it always starts at speed around 1-3 kb/s and the speed does not get up at all. Imho, the first DL connection opened is always that slow, but when i use more threads at same time, the following connections open at standard speed - and when the download is closing to finish and threads are closing, when the "slow" first thread is chosen to remain, it makes the DL to "hang on" while still showing high DL speed like the software couldnt realise there is only one thread with few kb speed left only... When "strong" fullspeed thread is selected to remain at the end of each download, it ends correctly (well this is only the opinion based on watching the behavior as i have no idea how is is coded). This corresponds to the browser download behavior, because there, always only one thread to the server is opened - the speed varies from 1 to 3 kb/s... in browser, i have similar speeds to every premium server, free servers are bit faster (10s of kb/s) but the download is usualy timed out after few seconds. Of course it resumes again, but this is definitely not standard behavior. As i said before, i have no troubles with downloading from anywhere else, even using various protocols like ftp or p2p. Any chance to give me the IPs of servers so i can try to track down the route?
