Camonna
yes, redoran is very cheap, I had made the mistake of joining them but the legion does end up paying well in the end and there quests are very fun. redorans quests are always wild mudcrab chases
Malchik
Erm - such a sweeping generalisation, Sludgewort! Telvanni quests are the ones that are all the same to me all collection of ingredients or artifacts. Hlaalu are okay but with Redoran you get to clear out Andasreth, rescue fair demoiselles from Tel Fyr and Tel Naga, close a mine etc. But I agree the rewards aren't so good. (Though I'm sure you get an ebony helmet and boots that are worth quite a bit as well as the Redoran Helm.)
Untouchable1
ok I see how thier quest system works now. they give you like three 'domestic disturbance' or so what quests then a cocmbat oriented quest, in which you still dont get a reward from the questgiver but you pick up a lot of loot along the way. you can imagine my delight when I did the 'assassins' quest and rushed to Sarethi Manor to see two dead guards with their expensive bonemold armor on. i rushed to get all that stuff before asking the guy what happened here! i already managed to buy a dreugh helm (replaced in a later quest by Mask of Clavicis Vile) and a dreugh curass that replaced an acquired orcish. ill just save up now for small ebony pieces. its just a lot more fun than stealin and gettin filthy rich with nothing to buy, ya kno? Eiade
I think soul trapping is one of the best ways to earn money as a lower-level character. Just get yourself a few common soulgems (find them in crates in smugglers caves or a few on top of a dresser in the vivec guild of mages). Go in any ancestral tomb. Find a skeleton, soul trap it, and kill it. Tada! Instant 1200 gold! Yay! And your conscience is clean as a button! (please excuse the lame old-fashioned saying) Skeletons are so easy to kill too. Who would've thought that their trapped soul can give you 1200 gold from creeper (but if you don't sell to creeper, you can only get like 600 tops). Untouchable1
lol, sounds like a good get-rich-quick scheme! if im powerful enough i can kill that orc Umbra or whatever and get his bigass soultrap claymore. right now im looking into a bunch of Ebony and Indoril Ordinator armor over at ghostgate. im about 70% through both redoran and legion quests now. i think ^_^. this Nord is comin up from tha ghetto and things is lookin up for him now playa... Adras
You can get the Redoran Master Helm through a Theives Guild quest anyways. Yes, you have to steal it, and yes, you have to give it to Aengoth the Jewler, but you dont have to join the theives guild. What I do (when I have to get it) is mark somewhere (someones home, preferibly without a guard) and go to the manor where it is, ready your rcall spell/potion/scroll (if its a spell and you are a low level char. you better hope to hell that your spell is almost perfected cuz those people cast a nasty spell on you) jump up, and as soon as you grab the helm, recall. Otherwise, to make money, all I could suggest is to pillage through Smugglers caves and sell the good stuff and keep the gold. You arent really stealing. Malchik
Telekinesis is a useful spell for acquiring things too far away to reach without being seen. You can use it to open chests at a distance too. It's how I usually get the Master Helm, the Dwemer Goblet (Bal Molagmar), Felen Maryon's staff (Thieves' Guild) etc. Lets you get the magic axe from the Razor Hole in Balmora at a very early stage too if axe is what you use. Switch
People seem to be forgetting that you can kill the leader of Redoran in an honourable duel at the end of the quests. The guy has a full set of Ebony on him! :P That's not bad money or armour.
Untouchable1
yeah i remember that part but my guy isnt going to do the main guest :) . ive pretty much decided to go after those souls like Eiade said. but not before i get that Umbra sword RAWR :D ! is that one even better than Chyrismire (spl)? im also surprised someone didnt say "taunt a guy to atk, its perfectly legal main!"
Adras
OR if you are completly forgetting the stealing thing and you have some of money, but you want more, all you have to do it break into one of the vaults in Vivec and steal the stuff. But I would suggest stealing stuff thats not too expensive so all you have to do is steal something cheap, ignore arrest when a guard comes to you then do that over and over untill all the guards are dead, except one, whom you would want to pay off your bounty to, and he'll probably go back to his postion, away from the vault normally. And Voila! All the stuff is yours.
