[LE] Is it possible to turn all static barrels of a certain type into a storage container barrel?

Two part question:

Is there a way to change a static barrel into a container barrel?

If not;

Is there a way to replace static barrels with container barrels all at once rather than going to each barrel and switching them out?

Not sure you would really want to do that. But to change some wouldn't hurt.

But to answer your question as stated. #1 yes #2 no

Yes to both actually, though there could be issues if quests in the game utilize the original static barrels in any way. To quickly do it you could pretty simply use the replace function in CK. I wouldn't change all of them though, I just wouldn't. If there are certain ones you need changed, probably wouldn't hurt. Though ask another question if you're thinking of some specifically.

This is purely to test the mechanics of the creation kit, rather than to enhance any aspect of the game itself.

Just testing random, sometimes ill advised, things out.

Also maybe this is bold of me to assume, I imagine you like to understand completely how something works before working on it? I have a similar approach to things in life if so. Wing it my friend. See what happens and create MANY back-ups and keep your saves clean. Good luck! Oh, also take notes of the steps/changes you make. Assuming the little ditty at the end of your posts is a legit diagnosis, perhaps our minds are not so different. :)

Changing all the static barrels to containers would be a disaster.

I wanted to do exactly what I said - I wanted to change all of Static Barrel02 into a container barrel. Mainly for sh*ts and giggles.

 

Didn't work anyway - entered the parameters of Replace Barrel02 with TGCacheBarrel. Hit OK and nothing happened.

 

Though it might be because the CacheBarrel is an object that appears after the Thieves' Guild quest line, and tried a regular container barrel.

 

I just kind of gave up on it lol.

Assuming is pretty bold, isn't it? You're right though for the most part. I really do prefer to know WHY a thing is happening, but sometimes just a simple "Well it just does" has to suffice.

In as far as changing just a handful goes, would that be something I could do in a sweep, or is it a one at a time sort of deal?

You can use control F to change items. Unclick checkbox for same type since you want to replace a static with a container. It gives you 3 options selected item only, all items of that type in a cell or all items of that type everywhere. I've used both the single item and all cell options and they both work. Never tried the everywhere option.
