xanataan
Hello people. _Surfing on your shield seems an entertaining thing to do in the game. I don't know modding, and I don't even know if it's possible to do. It can be fun to ride your shield going down the mountain or stairs, gaining speed and crushing ennemies (or not) on your passage. ^^ _War in Cyrodill. I think I am not the only one who killed the count of Bravil... Based on this murder, I thought about a new count who remplace him. This one could be a dictator who create an army and trys to conquer all Cyrodill. The purpose of this mod is that the player have to stop his army. The first battle could be in Leyawin, the closest city of Bravil. When the army arrives all guards of Leyawin cames to the front door and here the battle begins. To make this mod more longer, the army of Bravil wins. Then the player have to convince all the other counts to be together to stop Bravil's dictator. The last battle could take place in the bridge for exemple.Of course this is how I see the mod, but modders can take the idea an make it different. I got a lot more of ideas in the head that I will add. Stilker. PS : Sorry for the bad english, I'm french...
exanimis
Both ideas sound great, unfortunately neither is likely to be made. riding the shield, if it can be done, would take a tremendous amount of work including new animation. The problem with a war is that there is a limit to the amount of NPC's that can be onscreen. I think that you can only have three NPC's following at any one time. If you had two companions you would have to send at least one away before escorting Martin and Jauffrey to Cloud ruler temple. You just can't have enough NPC's in a single battle to make it realistic. You can really see this in the battle for Bruma quest. That quest always drops my FPS until I enter the Oblivion gate and again when the gate closes. There are just too many NPC's for my system I guess. VincentAlliath
If you had two companions you would have to send at least one away before escorting Martin and Jauffrey to Cloud ruler temple. No you wouldn't. :PYou could have two companions and Martin. Jauffre follows Martin, so it won't be a problem. That's why Jauffre "brings up the rear". He's actually just following Martin. Were they both following you, they'd ride side-by-side. Also, I have no idea why you'd want to surf on a shield of all things... I mean... a shield? The war idea is good. Although having it led by a count wouldn't be too smart... or lore-friendly... which isn't good either. Small scale wars are more realistic anyway. Loads of encounters, minimal parties. It works better on the system, and it often makes more sense.Goblins are good for armies, too.
ihateregisteringeverywhere
Well, I've personaly seen youtube videos of the player fighting off 300 goblins, or 200 fans fighting the balrog, and the battle of brunma runs flawlessly for me, so I guess that theese limitations are mostly system related. Smaller wars could be possible, but only monster pc's could run such a mod. I hear that using creature's instead of npc's can lighten the load. xanataan
Hum I thought shield surfing would be funny... Be I understand it's a lot of work for nothing...The idea of War is all about big scale battle, the only one there is in Oblivion is the battle of Bruma, and it's far from being well maked... They could have done it with bowmans on the walls, tactical groups etc... But now with Deadly Reflex, modders can do a so great work with mounted attack ect... Let's abandon the idea of the count, imagine an army of gobelin trying to take down the Imperial City, or Stingrad... Look at all the possibilities of defending in those cities... I get another idea from travelling into the Sideway Cave... This cave isn't finished and could be a very good dongeon with all the possibilities that it offers. Boss171
i ike the ideas, but if it was possible i wouldnt want a war in oblivion. in my opinion (evn tho i cant get it) obliv combat bites ass without deadly reflex, so it would just be a bunch of guys swinging swords at eah other, and would look crap like the battle of bruma
