nt5raham
Vortex 1.3.19 Windows 10 Pro 20H2 Build 19042.630 I have 3 monitors arranged [ 3 ] [ 1 ] [ 2 ]. I almost always run Vortex on [ 2 ]. Several days ago I moved Vortex to [ 3 ] temporarily, used it there for a few hours, and then moved it back to [ 2 ]. Now, the app always starts on [ 3 ]. Every time I shut it down I make sure it is on [ 2 ], but upon starting the app again it invariably starts on [ 3 ]. I got spoiled by having it start on the preferred monitor every time! Waaaaaaa! Is there perhaps an .ini setting or something that will keep the app on the monitor where I want it?
Pickysaurus
I think this is a Windows thing. I have two PCs one with 3 monitors and another with two and it's a little unpredictable in both cases when the window position will be saved. nt5raham
I wouldn't put it past Windows to be at fault. However, given my line of work and the extent to which I use multiple apps simultaneously (thus the multiple monitors), I have observed this behavior only with Vortex. An assortment of other applications stay put 99% of the time. Vortex is currently a problem 100% of the time. Any suggestions, Windows or otherwise? nt5raham
After several days, it has started opening on [ 1 ] rather than [ 3 ]. That's progress!! Now if it will just migrate one more monitor to the right...
Solution Pickysaurus Posted November 25, 2020 Solution Share Posted November 25, 2020 Tannin or Nagev might correct me, but I am pretty sure Vortex has no say in it's Window position on the desktop or the dimensions (aside from having a minimum width and height). I do have similar problems to those you described with Discord, so I do feel it's a Windows thing. Update: "Vortex will only move the app's location on screen if less than 25% of the window is visible in the main screen"
nt5raham
Thanks for the update, Picky. I'm remembering my Unix days where the developer, or even the user, had control over such things in XWindows. Figures that Microsplat would choose to dominate. Anyway, this morning it decided to start on the correct monitor finally. I'll just have to try and leave it there from now on.
