JimboUK
I'm glad it happened, it's underlined just how awful this form of DRM is, people will be more wary in future of purchasing titles that use it.

ziitch
...Why can't the big guys like EA figure out that anti-piracy software only creates inconvenience and invites more piracy, and that if you really want to make people reconsider piracy, you've got to be willing to talk (as in actually discussing, not point-and-blame) to them about it on the pirate's turf? Seriously. If you take the time to talk with the pirates, and prove that you're a human with feelings and not a robot that randomly generates games, you might get some reclaimed sales. Think of it this way - A game without evidence of humane production is one that leaves the conscience with nothing to question.
bben46
EA's business model seems to rely on several demographic groups that will always buy their stuff - no matter what. The kiddies who don't know any better - they think this is the way games are supposed to be.The grannies that buy games for their kiddies - who think games are all like commodore C64 cartridges. You plug them in and they work. The fanbois who will grit their teeth and pay the price for the latest game in the series no matter what indignities they are forced to endure. As long as their is a steady influx of the first two, they are willing to suffer the loss of former loyal fans. As for the third group, I think they would walk on hot coals if that's what EA demanded in order to play.
ziitch
...At least the original SimCity can plug into a Commodore 64 and work.
JimboUK
http://uk.gamespot.com/news/modders-find-way-to-play-simcity-offline-6405296 So it can run offline, so much for server side processing, EA really are full of crap.
