I got a mod that fails to deploy, and the error message tells me to see the log for details.

A number of times this error pops up:

Sun, 13 Dec 2020 10:52:34 GMT - warn: failed to link link=Strings\Fallout4_en.STRINGS\Fallout4_en.STRINGS, source=Better Item Sorting NMM Installer-897-2-6-1, error=EINVAL: invalid argument, link 'E:\Program Files\Nexus Mods\Fallout 4\Better Item Sorting NMM Installer-897-2-6-1\Strings\Fallout4_en.STRINGS\Fallout4_en.STRINGS' -> 'E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\data\Strings\Fallout4_en.STRINGS\Fallout4_en.STRINGS'

This is the mod it's referring to: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/897

The issue is that I've no idea what this means, or how to fix it.

That mod has an extensive FOMOD installer, which options did you pick?

I noticed that both your staging folder and your game are installed to the Program Files directory. This is probably the cause.

If you want to mod a game it's best to install it to a less protected directory such as E:\Games\

I've switched to a more up to date sorter mod.

But the folder shouldn't be an issue as E: isn't my OS drive, so thus should have none of those protections.

It also seems odd that this 1 file out of 200+ would be the only one having this issue if that were true.

Thanks for the help anyway.

What do you mean by this?

I mean just that.

Better Item Sorting was last updated in 2015. I've switched to Valdacil's Item Sorting, which was last updated in 2017.
