My Skyrim game keeps on freezing after it loads up and/or when it saves/autosaves. I have checked my mods and they are fine. Also I have to manually load a game because everytime when i use continue from previous saved game it will have infinite loading. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody can help me solve this issue. My specs will be on the bottom.

Processor: Intel® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4 GHz

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti

Hope this helps.

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/941621-again-and-again-freezes/page-2&do=findComment&comment=7603805

My game version is the latest 1.8.something (i.e. the very latest 1.8.x version, revalidated via Steam just yesterday, so I assume there's nothing outdated with my basic game files).

I'm having the same problem. I get the perpetual loading screen of death at random times when loading in during quick travel, going through loading doors, or sometimes when entering the game. I have used tes5 edit on my mods, following all the directions explicitly, I am using ATTK, Game Booster, Nvidia inspector tweaked for skyrim, and Fraps.

This is extremely frustrating to me because I just upgraded my system with ASRock FM2A75Pro4 motherboard with AMD A10 processor 3800 ghz 4200 OC. I have 16 GB of 2400 speed DDR3 ram. My video card is Nvidea Geforce GTX650ti with 2GB memory SSC. The slowest item is my 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. There should be NO ISSUES playing a destop game that doesn't even connect to the internet.

Are you seriously telling me that I need to buy a 10k HDD or go solid state to play this game?

I'm running Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

I am up to date on version of Skyrim, with Dawnguard and Hearthsfire. No dragonborn yet.

Please help me!!! Edited by BirgitteSilverbow

@BirgitteSilverbow:
- Have you done all of this from a freshly installed game? I assume that because you mention that you've moved to a new machine lately.
- And did these loading screen hangs happen right from the start, or only after a certain time and number of mod installations?
- And even more important: Did these freezes happen in earlier playthroughs as well?

These things would be quite interesting for me to know.

In my case, I started a new playthrough from a "manually cleaned" installation, i.e. I manually uninstalled every single mod and reinstalled them step by step (at first starting in Helgen with only the very basic texture replacers, and then adding other, more complex mods), until I had 80% of my original mod list restored by the time when I was in Whiterun.
My new playthrough worked fine for about 2 ingame hours, and then the freezing started to occur again, accompanied by sporadic CTDs, failures of script mods like MHKP etc.

By "again" I mean: All of this had already been a problem in my preceding playthrough! So, honestly, this looks to me like there are still some inconsistent/corrupt leftovers I hadn't been aware of.
As reported in the other thread linked in my post above, my savegame was full of ghost scripts by that time, and I have no idea where they come from, because I hadn't updated anything in the meantime.

That's why I've decided to give in and follow the general "reinstall Skyrim" recommendation (currently in progress of doing so). I am a bit annoyed by it, of course, because this is just a plain"kill all" approach, with no guarantee that it will actually work, and - even worse - without being able to understand the cause of the problem.

But anyway, I'll believe that playing a highly modded game (especially with frequent updating and reinstallation of heavily scripted mods) naturally bears this risk.

I'll report back as soon as I can see whether it has solve the issue for me or not.

I previously played on a very low end dual core Frankenputer I made myself from parts. Pentium D processor, 4 gb 1333 ram, Nvidia GTX 275. Most of the same mods except the high texture stuff for obvious reasons. lag was my main problem then.

I loaded everything new with a clean install and nexus mod manager on the new system. I've only been playing on the new system for a few weeks, but the loading issues started recently. And now random CTDs. I honestly don't know what to do. I love this game and quit playing SWTOR after paying for that crap for a year.

The modding ability is why i love it so much. Funny thing is that with my card and system game play is remarkably smooth and spectacular, but I'm afraid to do anything I have to load into, and there seems to be no trigger for the CTDs, they happen randomly while just standing there even sometimes.

I've tried medium settings, high settings, and ultra. Nothing affects my issues. There are no map files in my skyrim.ini file. BOSS doesn't show any issues and neither does TES5. The game seems to enjoy hanging up. I think it hates me!!!

@Birgitte:

A quick guess - such regular CTD, which happen in various different situations without obvious reason, usually point towards memory issues.

This is caused by default game engine limitations and is thus absolutely independent on how powerful your computer is.

To clarify:

Do you have the 4GB patch installed? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3211

Once installed, you may want to use a free tool like Microsoft's/Sysinternal's Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) to verify if your system actually uses more than 2GB of memory.

I had such CTD issues frequently in Oblivion until I applied the patch.

HTH

[EDIT] Maybe my suggestion with the 4GB patch was a bit of a quickshot! AFAIK, the 4GB patch is deprecated in the meantime, because one of the more recent game updates should have solved this by now. Nevertheless, it may still be helpful to check with Process Explorer.

That 4gb machine was my old machine. I am running on a much better setup now, I posted the stats in my first post above. ASRock FM2A75Pro4 motherboard with AMD A10 processor 3800 ghz 4200 OC. I have 16 GB of 2400 speed DDR3 ram. My video card is Nvidea Geforce GTX650ti with 2GB memory SSC. The slowest item is my 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. It should rock!

After the patch last night, I was unable to load anything but a save inside a building. I reset my Virtual memory cache to 3x my ram which is 64 GB. That did nothing. Then, I removed Skyrim Floral Overhaul and all of the individual city upgrade mods. That did it. I was then able to move freely through the bland, vanilla, crappy world of Skyrim for a few hours of gameplay before bed. Load times were still lengthy, but it would load and my FPS stayed at 60 everywhere. I still can't load into the Luxury suite but i suspect that's a problem with the latest Skyrim patch compatibility with that particular mod.

I really wish to play the pretty Skyrim again, so I think there must be something i am missing. I am a lifetime gamer (mostly MMOs) and am very handy with computers and figuring this stuff out. This has me stumped.

Maybe someone can make a Skyrim pre-cache killer like the awesome mod that saved hair! http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526/

Thanks in advance anyone who can help!

1. Run Boss

2. Validate Skyrim data via Steam.

3. Update SKSE.

Load up a save then console command: PCB ... save game and restart.

(PCB your save from time to time as you play Skyrim)

ATTK never needs an update but loads SKSE and that will need an update

if Skyrim updates.

Sidenote: You may have already corrupted your save beyond repair. But from what you have said sounds more like a mod problem then anything else. Keep in mind "Boss" isn't always 100%. You need to build your Skyrim mods collection slowly testing as you go. Just as you need to build (per say), your save by PCB cleaning and backing up (in game).

Corrupting something in Skyrim that has nothing to do with your mod is completely possible ... and easy to do. Even a very small charge coupled with some other mods "small change" can bring problems. Then there is the all out mod mistakes, again very easy to do. (yes, the mod can still work fine and not even show the mistake to the mods creator) It's just the way the CK edits. Anyways what I'm saying is overmoding is a common mistake. You kind of put yourself in a no mans land of no help too. Who really knows what your error is with all them mods. Could be almost anything. That's why you need to start off with only a few mods test them to death then add more and so on.

IDK, this works for me, good luck with everything!

How do you validate skyrim data?

OK figured that out and there were 3 bad files. BOSS says it can't find the game now (no game detected)? maybe there needs to be an update of boss?

Will attempt to run PCB on save. Can this command be run right after a save or does it need to be saved and reloaded?

UPDATE: OK I reloaded SFO and added the tree update to help with loading. Then I loaded an older save that worked. used PCB command and performed a hard save. Logged out and loaded that save right up. I've successfully traveled a few times and will test things out.

Thanks for your advice and thanks for ATTK, I've been using it for some time, it was the only reason i was able to play at all with my old setup.

I will update progress for other users to see.

UPDATE

Have been messing with settings, mods, etc and finally downloaded Skyrim Performance Monitor and set it up. fast travel has been working pretty well, but loading into certain player homes with high textures and number of followers is giving me game freezes CTDs and infinite loading screens. I noticed that when this happens, my memory seems to skyrocket to about 3079 MB and then the disk I/O goes to zero, which I assume means that windows told the to the HDD to shut down. Vram is not maxed out and all other settings seem ok.

So how do you fix this?
