nexuskomrad
What about moving Vortex application to a different drive letter? It's on my S: drive but I'm moving every thing to D: . I'm going to use the s: drive ( an SSD ) for another computer I'm building. I've already copied the Vortex folder and my Tools ( DynDOLOD, etc ) to the D: drive. But since the Vortex installer originally put it on the S: drive, will I need to uninstall, reinstall, then restore Vortex data?
HadToRegister
YOu can't just move vortex around using Windows Explorer.YOu need to use VORTEX to move the Downloads and Mod Staging Folder. If you've moved the Mod Staging Folder using WIndows Explorer, then you've broken the Hardlinks, and turned them into actual Files now. nexuskomrad
I didn't move anything, except letting Steam move the Skyrim game. And I uninstalled / reinstalled Vortex. I copied file in case I wanted to rollback to my previous setup. I did things in the wrong order. It looks like what I should have done was - in Steam, move Skyrim game location from s:\ to d:\ in Vortex, change paths for mod downloads and staging from s: to d:. When you hit apply, it moves them. ( I found this out too late) Relocate tools to d: drive and update path in Vortex dashboard Backup Vortex ( settings -> workarounds tab ) Uninstall / Reinstall vortex in new location ( c: would probably be best to prevent having to move it again in the future ) Restore Vortex from backup Test.My backwards method almost worked, but it seems that the staging folder ended up ( I think, I didn't look ) with duplicate files. I had a conflict notification complaining about changes outside of Vortex. In conflict resolution, I told it to use newer files for each mod. At that point, all of my mods were in the mods tab, but I noticed the # plugins was a few hundred lower than before, roughly from 240 to 14. I'm currently reinstalling all of my mods to fix that. At least I know for next time! Let me know if I need to add steps or re-order the above procedure.

The first thing you should've done is PURGE all of your mods, that would've severed the hardlinks, Which would've let you install Vortex to the new DriveThen once Vortex was moved, you could've used Vortex to move the MOd Staging, and Download Folder, then manually pointed Vortex at the New Game folder, and you could've re-deployed the mods, instead of having to install all of them again THere are a bunch of threads on how to do this
