HadToRegister
Title says it all. Can someone recommend something with moody (but still functional) lighting? Lots of them seem overly bright. I switched from Realistic Lighting Overhaul, to ELE, "Enhanced Lighting for ENB", which doesn't need ENB, so not sure why it's named that way. It's much more lightweight, and does its job well, I didn't notice any shortcomings from switching from RLO to ELE, except for having a much LESS ESPs, in my load order. (Depending on if you needs patches) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1377
bmardiney
Okay trying it out. Oh right, I just remembered that RLO adds spells in your hands illuminating the area. Damn, I liked that feature. Also somehow this one makes the Hearthfire home even darker. Sigh. Edited January 1, 2021 by bmardiney
HadToRegister
Okay trying it out. Oh right, I just remembered that RLO adds spells in your hands illuminating the area. Damn, I liked that feature. I don't remember that from RLO.OH, "Illuminated SPells" They had a couple of places where you could light a couple of Dwarven lamps up (In Markarth), but I don't remember any spells included with RLO. Also, I use "Dynamic Immersive Seriously Dark Dungeons" and depending on the settings you set, it can light the dungeon or make it as dark as you want, while adding candles, torches, fire pots, that you can light so you can see. I generally use the darkest setting, but you can set it to any amount of light you'd want in a dungeon without having to find candles, fire pots, and torches to light the wayIt's one mod I won't play without https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/7535 Since "RLO Illuminated Spells" is an optional Addon for RLO, you can probably still use just that ESP as a standalone Mod. I'm using RLO Darker Dungeons without using the rest of RLO, to make my dungeons dark for use with the mod I told you about here.

Also, because Hearthfires default light completely suck, I use, "Improved Hearthfire Lighting SE"Hearthfire is a MESS to begin with and the lights are stupidly dark. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/
bmardiney
Yeah I have that hearthfire mod too. It's fine (if a little too bright) in the main rooms but the back rooms are pitch black. I seriously don't understand the choices some of the modders make. They have talent but questionable judgement. Also now I think ELE is overwriting the Vivid Weathers darkifying effects :p Maybe I should just go back to RLO haha

Also now I think ELE is overwriting the Vivid Weathers darkifying effects  Maybe I should just go back to RLO haha If your lighting is that extreme, then you're doing something wrong, or you've got things in your load order the wrong way so they're overwriting other things. You shouldn't be going from "Too Bright to Pitch Black" Also, it's not the Modder's Fault for Hearthfire, if you read the Description page they tried everything they could to brighten the place up, it's Bethesda's Crappy Lighting, and Imagespace that's the problem. The Modder worked with what they could, DESPITE Bethesda's shortcomings. You also have Vivid Weathers that acts like an ENB, and affects all the Impagespaces as well. That's one reason why I left those bloated Weather MOds behind and went with Cathedral Weathers.Nice and lightweight, and gives me what I want without taking up half a load order with extra ESPs. bmardiney
Okay, I think I got it perfect - got Luminosity and Relighting Skyrim. Then I just set the Night and Interior to "dark" using Vivid Weathers. NOW the only problem is the map is SUPER bright. EDIT: Found a patch for that. All good now!And okay, I'll take your word for it, but now that I'm using those mods, the hearthfire homes are lit very nicely. So clearly some modders could affect it. What's "The Patch" you found for the map being Super Bright. If you managed to get the Hearthfires homes Brightly lit, I may end up following YOUR advice lol!! How are the Dungeons?I like mine pitch black using Dynamic Dakr Dunbgeons.
thumbincubation
I absolutely loved RLO, but it was really tough on my eyes and I would start to get headaches playing, so I had to give it up. I didn't use a lighting mod for a while, but I recently started using Rustic Weathers, and I like it. It's natural and comfortable, though it only affects outside. Here is what helped me decide on it. Gamerpoets was kind enough to record the same scenes, using each of the currently-popular weather/lighting mods, so we could see how each handled the different aspects. Hope it helps.
