Vortex is downloading 'something' but no clue what.

Vortex is downloading something according to my firewall. There is nothing showing in the downloads window except 4 game files "tools and extensions" files to games I don't even have that vortex apparently decided to download all on it's own. On top of that, I went from piss poor download speeds of 30 kb/s for a mod, to the mod now being totally unable to download at all. I get an error message of "" timed out. I've used Vortex for a while and this behavior is new.

I am also exceptionally UNHAPPY getting files downloaded by vortex for games I don't even have. I'm on a metered connection and you are chewing my bandwidth for s#*! I don't have.

game-bladeandsorcery_0.2.3.7z
game-galciv3>0.1.0.7z
game-witcher3_1.2.7.7z
game-mount-and-blade2_0.2.7.7z

The only game I had of those 4 was witcher 3, which I deleted a LONG time ago. So wtf am I getting downloads of those game when I don't have them? WTF is Vortex currently chewing my bandwidth up downloading something I can't see? Every time I delete those files above, vortex re-downloads them. Why? I don't have those games, and for 3 of them, never had them in the first place.

Seriously. This is getting unreasonable. I love Nexus, and I totally love being able to get mods from one central source, but something is up with your software, and ya'll need to find the issue and fix it soon. Please. Vortex so far has downloaded 53+ MB of 'something' to itself. It's still going hard at chewing my LIMITED METERED bandwidth downloading a f*#@ing ghost that I can't see and have no clue wtf it is. It can download whatever the f*#@ it's downloading, but it can't download a mod.... not a single mod. Just, whatever it's yanking off the web currently that I have no way to see or identify.

That isn't reasonable. Nor is it safe. I've terminated Vortex and blocked it from accessing the internet until ya'll figure out whats wrong with your software and fix it.

Ok

Those are extension updates, a part of Vortex

OK so a part of vortex that just sits in my download que as finished. Won't install when I hit install (which I've tried just now after reading your response). Just sits there doing zip. In the mean time, I re-enabled vortex access to the internet to see if not being able to install them was because the net was blocked. closed vortex and restarted it. Still won't install those 4 whatevers. And vortex is still downloading 'something' that isn't showing anywhere except in my firewall. And it STILL can't download a single mod from Nexus. It's not blocked anywhere from doing so. I use a 3rd party firewall, not the garbage microsoft has, so I have full control over what I am allowing in or out of my computer. I'm not really ok with Vortex downloading something and not asking me to do so or if it's ok to do so. Is it an update to the software? if so, why didn't it ask me if it could do an update? I HAVE to monitor my bandwidth use due to being on a metered connection, I can't let some software just decide to willy nilly download some random crap to my computer w/o knowing what it is and why.

that's one of the funniest rants I've read in a while.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, stuff a sock in it.

well i could advise you that its part of the mod manager, but HTR has your back on that. I just wanted to praise your rant. :)

Rant praised then. Sorry if I am testy. I was looking forward to doing some game modding today only to run into stuff I haven't seen from Vortex before, coupled with now being unable to download a single mod on top of it all.

*edit* OK 1 mod is downloading, at 0-29 kb/s with occasional bumps up to 50 kb/s. This isn't a connection issue because I can pause vortex, switch to steam and start a pending download on steam and go at 5 mb/s w/o an issue. This has something to do with either vortex, or vortex's download servers. I've switched to the closest download server to me (Los Angeles) with out any improvement of speeds from Vortex. It kinda sucks because nothing else on my computer is having a speed issue in regards to the internet EXCEPT for vortex.

I get it. I totally understand why you're feeling it a bit.

There's been people delete them once they see them and the next time Vortex starts, it sees they are missing and redownloads them. So, whatever you do, don't delete them, otherwise you chew up a bit more of your allocation by forcing Vortex to redownload them again.

The reason it's done like this is, these are small components, and can be pulled down when required by Vortex and it's a smaller download than constantly having to redownload Vortex and reinstall. It makes sense, but yes, if you're on a metered connection, it's painful.

Now, if you want to get some help with pulling down some mods - throw up some of the issues you're seeing and we'll see if we can get you going?

I have a TON of finished download in my Downloads Tab, most that I've installed (That still have an INSTALL button next to them) and some I haven't installed.

I don't even pay attention to the Downloads Tab anyway

The Extension updates to games update because if they didn't people would be in here complaining that the extension doesn't work

Since Vortex is a Mod Manager that needs to manage a LOT of Games, just because it downloads something for a game YOU don't have, just means it's for a game other people have

They can't decide who has what game and to only download those extensions

Have you tried changing your Download Server?

I posted something in your other thread but you never answered
