Best Mods for a Thief

BlackCompany

Recommended Posts

So just recently I began playing through Skyrim as a Roguish type. A Nord, granted, but more a Roguish adventurer than a Savior and Hero. At least at first, this guy is pretty well out for himself. If its profitable he'll likely have a go at it.

Which brings me to my reason for this thread:

What are some good mods for a roguish/thief/adventurer type? First, the ones I know about or have:

-Water arrow

-Dynamic torches

-Shadowplay (Stealth/Alchemy overhaul)

Wondering if anyone else has any recommendations for playing as the selfish rogue/thief type?

Thanks!

Excellenbt suggestions on both counts. I love the idea of craftable stuff to enhance thief/adventurer play. Still feels a little...powerful...but it helps when you have to work for it. And Dwemer night eye goggles are just plain cool. Same for the thief tools.

Thanks for both of these.

I disagree.

There are plenty of mods that make the experience tougher instead of easier, Stealth Character Immersion Fix and Stealth Skills Rebalanced - Sneak - Lockpicking - Pickpocket come to mind.

Hello. It is 2014 now. More mods have been released/updated - therefore, it is time to reopen this thread.

More thief mods are needed. More immersion is needed.

An absolute must have: spinning arrows. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37358/?

What else do I want? Lemme write down the somewhat random stream of thieving thoughts here ...

- more loot to be stolen (as in adding speacial loot into the game and providing more places to break into)

- renawable loot (after breaking into a place and waiting for some time, some other loot should reappear)

- more dynamic stolen goods fencing system

- better pickpocket and lockpicking systems

- more bows are needed. More types of arrows too. On top of that, more demanding archery game mechanics are desired

- more random strangers and more random encounters across the game (in both the cities and on the road) - to utilize the ability to rob them blind and/or to kill 'em from the shadows

- archery headshots

However, I'm looking for a lot more than that ... and I'm open to your suggestions.

More immersion, increased difficulty, etc. - that's what I'm talking about (even though I may not be listing the specific features in here (possbly not even knowing of some features being modded into the game), I want to hear about them).

Frankly, I do not wish to become another Mary-Sue kind of a character --- as vanilla Skyrim lets you - becoming a civil war hero, a master thief, an assassin king and a grandmaster of the mages guild, all as a single person, that seems lame to me. Instead of this charade, I'd like to be able to pick a balanced, limited thief class of sorts (being good at stealth and reasonably pathetic at combat & magic).

Not interested in the whole dovahkiin storyline, not one bit (just say no to that yet another dudebro-ish mediocre hero storyline). Give me more gritty realism, creepy immersion and filth instead.

An exhaustive list of recommended mods for thieves is highly desired. Having 'em thieving mods all listed in one place would be awesome.

I'm playing as a mainly stealth character now, and just came form Dishonored, so wanted to recreate the main character from that game somewhat. I've been using the Void Walker mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38009/?. I mainly just wanted the blink/"void leap" ability. There is also a similar "master of time and space" mod. I don't think any of it is game-breaking, but I ended up using "Time shift" a lot, which can be a little overpowering as it takes some of the challenge out of sneaking.

Hi all,

Can anybody give link to mod that makes sneaking EASIER? I don't need thieves tools and such ... things - I am just trying play skyrim, not THIEF! At higher levels sneaking is absolutely useless - every bandit sees you, no matter what! Even if he\she is sleeping and you are sneaking 30 meters away!

So, I would appreciate, if anyone advises mod that makes sneaking easier, without complications, and no need to spent minutes on maneuvering just to kill one damned foe.

i have a feeling you were wearing heavy armor or holding a torch without realizing because with the vanilla system and max stealth you can stand 2 inches away from a bandit and not be seen
