connecting vortex to skyrim SE - installed via gamepass

more or less what it says in the title - ive installed skyrim SE via gamepass on PC, however vortex doesnt seem to detect i have the game installed - ive tried setting the location manually however i cant seem to find it - any suggestions would be really helpful

Did you buy the game with gamepass, or is it free to play with game pass?

 

Because you can't mod Gamepass games because the folder is encrypted

free with gamepass but that explains why im having so much trouble, thank you!

It does work.

 

You have to;

1 - Enable mods within gamepass (go to the Skyrim game and look for the button enable mods, its very small underneath the '18 pegi icon' - this will create a folder named 'programfiles\modifiablewindows\apps'

2 - Point vortex to this folder as the install folder

3 - Apply your mods

4 - Then load the game within gamepass (for some reason it still doesn't give permission in this modifiable folder to launch the .exe, so you can't launch via vortex, same with NexusMM)

5 - Go in to 'Mods' within the Skyrim game itself

6 - Set the load order manually here, as you need to tick each mod too

7 - Reload game, et voila

 

I'm no expert, and I'm sure a better method will come to light as the game only became available today.
