billyro
Ragnar the Red went riding to Whiterun from old Rorikstead, and that meant the crops in Rorikstead could finally grow without fear of dying from his stench.
gsmanners
LOL Rorikstead is an ancient village (many thousands of years old), and it owes its existence to the fact that: a) It's in the middle of freaking nowhere, so nobody cares what happens there.b) It's halfway down probably the most well-traveled road between Whiterun and Solitude.c) Those darn Bretons and their black magic. Nothin' good 'll come o' that.

eLucifer
Another weird thing. Rorikstead is mentioned in the song Ragnar the Red, which I assume is old, but the town is named after it's current ''owner'', Rorik. Rorik never mentiones an old relative who shares his name, in fact if I remember correctly he says he built the place himself.

Tykiii
It is actually a nice idea for a quest mod. Lorefriendly and immersive type.
KerstynVoices
I read one theory somewhere that Rorikstead had been around for a REALLY long time but it rises and falls repeatedly through the era's because of a secret pact the towns leaders made with some hagravens. The reason the land is so fertile is because the towns folk sacrifice fertile women to the hagravens and in turn would make the soil fertile. When the towns folk would stop sacrificing women to the hagravens, Rorikstead would suffer and there for fall from history but once they started the sacrifices again they would prosper. (This would make an awesome quest mod)
