lagartrixa
Hello everyone. So, due to a computer wipe, I recently re-installed Skyrim SE in a outside drive and tried to mod it there. I previously tried to put in my old mods manually (bringing my old mod folder and placing in the same spot as it was before) on the directory and then have Vortex recognize those mods and install them (that didn't work, so I re-installed everything, the game, Vortex, and deleted all the mods in it). So now I have the brand-new re-installed version of the game and Vortex. As I downloaded my mods normally with Nexus, I started getting a bunch of notifications on Vortex saying that it couldn't find the game launcher and that it couldn't deploy the mods and when I went to see what was the problem, I had put the Vortex staging folder in the game directory (which I shouldn't have). I tried to fix it by moving the staging folder, through Vortex, to a folder outside the game directory but in the same external drive, as the error notifications told me to. Problem is, for some reason, Vortex sent the whole game directory WITH THE MODS to this outside folder, so it didn't change anything. Now my original game directory is gone and everything is together in the same new folder. I have no idea how to clean this up. Should I just re-install everything again or is there a way to separate them?
anjenthedog
Can you at least successfully run that Update available task? Vortex might be balking due to the Vortex version needing to be revised. I vaguely recall a time back in the summer/autumn of 2019 when I couldn't deploy and found that to be the issue for me, (as I recall, I had just dismissed a Vortex update notification) although I'll admit I'm not certain...it simply rings a "memory bell" in my head, which usually hits the mark on-target... but sometimes doesn't
lagartrixa
Okay, so I tried to do a clean reinstall of everything. The game is working fine, but Vortex is still a bit funky. There are only two error messages appearing now, and I'll try to attach them both here. One of them is regarding an update that it can't do and the other its about not being able to resume my mods download. I have already tried to close the application and run it again but to no avail. My computer is connected to the Internet and my anti-virus is inactive, so its not blocking Vortex. Some downloads can continue for some reason and I can see the internet usage on the bottom left corner of the app.
HadToRegister
Turn off your AntiVirus and REINSTALL Vortex.A lot of times an AntiVirus will prevent Vortex from completely installing correctly.

After seeing that you put the mod staging folder INSIDE the game directory and then merged IT and the Game directory together, your best bet is to uninstall EVERYTHING.Make sure you completely DELETE the game folder, otherwise just uninstalling a game will leave Vortex files behind. Then you also need to delete the C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\Vortex folder or C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\blacktree gaming\Vortex THis is an example of the reason that Vortex will NOT allow you to put the Mod Staging Folder inside the game folder

The issues of my first post have been solved by reinstalling everything, but now I have these notifications about the update error and download failing. After restarting Vortex a few times it automatically logged off my account and asked me to log in again. This time I didn't have any more errors show up and it seems to be all fixed now. I'm yet to test my mods and see if it's all working properly, but so far what worked for me was: 1) Do a clean uninstall of everything, mods, Vortex and Game.2) Re-install them all, seperately, in the same external disk.3) Run Vortex and put the correct new directories in, restarting the app.4) Run Vortex a couple more times, seeing that the first time after still had the Internet Connection errors.
