Andareas115 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Hi, I've been absent from Vortex for a moment, I assume there was an update, otherwise I would already be having fun...Basically, I have reinstalled the NMM on my computer (in the same disk than the games, I did watch the tutorial videos) and imported the mods back on it for my games. HOWEVER, whenever I return on a game, for example, Fallout 4, my mods (wich are clearly installed and enabled in the NMM) are absent of it, and I either cannot run my saves or play a non vanilla new game...I don't understand, my mod staging folder is in the E: disk like it should be, where the game are, am I missing anything? Am I missing something obvious like always? Please help.
Guest deleted34304850 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 are you using NMM, or Vortex? choose one, not both, and stick with it.
Andareas115 Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 are you using NMM, or Vortex? choose one, not both, and stick with it.I'm sorry, it's the Vortex one, I usually see "NMM" almost in every mod desciption, I thought it was an alternative name...
HadToRegister Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 So, you had Vortex installed, but somewhere along the line you uninstalled it, and now want to play again, so you reinstalled it?Also, what do you mean by "Imported the mods back on it for my games"? Do you mean you DOWNLOADED the mods from the Nexus, or you Imported the mods from NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) to Vortex? When you first uninstalled Vortex way back when, did you also PURGE your mods and uninstall them?Or did you just leave everything as-is, and just uninstall Vortex?

Basically I deinstalled it because it was on the wrong disk (which is unnecessary since you can easily move it from a disk to another, which I discovered too late) only to reinstall it with the version of Vortex where you can choose where to put it. 2)I mean I had already the mods downloaded from the nexus in a folder in case of emergency, so I took my mods and dropped them in Vortex directly. 3)I deleted the mods, then uninstalled and reinstalled Vortex My hypothesis is that this is more of a problem about the settings and the staging folder to chose.

It doesn't matter WHERE Vortex is installed. It only matters that your Mod Staging Folder be on the same drive as your game You deleted the mods from Where? The Mod Staging Folder? Because that's where the actual physical copies of the Mods exist.Or did you delete the mods from the game folder, which just Deletes/severs the LINK to the actual Physical Mods in the mod staging folder? The proper thing to do is PURGE the mods, then uninstall them.YOu can select all the mods by using CTRL+A then selecting UNINSTALL from the menu that pops up at the bottom of the screen. If you just manually deleted the mods, then all of the installed Mod info is still stored in C:\users\YOUR NAME\appdata\roaming\vortex People make this mistake all the time

It may or may not work, because you already said you deleted your mods, without PURGING (because you didn't answer ANY of the questions I asked, so I have to assume you did it the wrong way and just deleted your mods) which means, you've got your entire install completely messed up now
Andareas115 Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Okay so I did purge the mods and reinstalled, it does finally works now, thank you all for your time and patience (I now you needed it here, sorry again...)
