@Glassdeviant > You are right for the option in the user profile to activate or not the new option.

This morning, i was thinking of another URL rewriting mode who can be used :

- for the main tab of the page mod : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35695

- for the files tab of the page mod : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35695/files

- for the images tab of the page mod : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35695/images

- for the comments tab of the page mod : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35695/comments (and subURLs for the effective pages of comment such http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35695/comments/1 ... optional maybe)

- the same for other tabs ...

(this is an example of course)

This dosen't break bookmarking AND add the "backward" compatibility with only minor changes of the "old" AJAX system.

What's so bad about a page load? If you are having to recode your AJAX functionality so that browsers work the way users expect them to, then I would say you've reached the point of unnecessary complexity and should reconsider where and when AJAX is being used rather than coding more complexity around it.

Whether I watch my browser bar spin and spin or I watch the Nexus' little loading .gif spin and spin, it makes no difference. Why can't the page load all of the content ... when the page loads? And then you can AJAX in the latest post or some other trivial bits after the user is presented with the requested content. What we have now is essentially hard-coded latency on every page because the page has to load before it triggers the AJAX request, which it subsequently has to wait for and then finally loads the content...

In any case, I am very thankful to you that I can now link myself and others directly to the posts or a forum page (without having to resort to forums.nexusmods.com)

But my soul yearns for the elegance of a simple /posts at the end of the URL to do the same thing. Keep up the great work! :)

In response to post #7985769. #7999228 is also a reply to the same post.

I'll clarify, technically they are not broken. All of them will redirect to your new pathing, however, what it does do is report that I do not have the page bookmarked (Firefox).
I keep every mod I use bookmarked, and in each bookmark I have it categorized, named, version, and by whom. So when a new version is out I update the bookmark to the new version, but with you guys keep changing the pathing it just adds it as a new bookmark.
I keep the mod offline, with the URL link in the zip so I always have where I got it. I don't let any mod touch my game until I've packed any loose files (textures, meshes, scripts) and optimized the textures and loaded the mod into the creation kit to verify it does what it does and nothing more. I put a lot of work into making sure it's right, dissecting each mod, verifying things are accounted for, and optimized. This new pathing is just another step I have to do, where I didn't before.
Please stick to one path and keep it, also remove the URL updating when we click on each sub option of a mod (DESC, FILES, IMAGES, etc). Now each one adds yet more clutter to the url bar, were just before this new update it was either hidden or internal where the url would not change.
You'll get a mod on first load like this "http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3180/?". Click on Files, then I click back on to DESC (which was it's default load) and now the url is "http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3180/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D3180%26preview%3D&pUp=1".
Basically it is just a jumbled mess.
But at least it's free, so I shouldn't complain I guess.

I just did a quick check on what I think is our oldest forum - the Oblivion Discussion - it goes back to July of 2003 - is 10 years far enough back for you? The site was called Morrowind Source then. (MWS)

Over the past few days I've experienced really, really slow connections to Nexus, getting bad gateway's and unable to load pages, missing images and failed to connect links, All mainly appertaining to SkyrimNexus.

I tried to find a page regarding current issues and maintenance - if all this is currently known and due to maintenance etc.. I would be grateful if someone could point me to a link so I can Bookmark it for the future.

Maybe I just couldn't see the wood for the trees but couldn't find anything referenced on the front page. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but again I couldn't find an appropriate place to raise it.

PS I have a fast FibreOptic (100mbps) BB so shouldn't really see anything so slow. Everywhere else ont' interwebz I generally don't
