FalloutIII2013
I noticed my [cache] folder has the same mods as my [downloads] folder. Can I delete what's in my [cache] in order to not have duplicate files? Storage is a commodity for me and duplication is futile.
hoofhearted4
are you talking about your ".../AppData/Temp" folder? if so then yes you can delete the data in this folder.
Werne
I purge my cache each time I exit the browser, you can delete everything from it as long as the browser is closed.
FalloutIII2013
The [cache] and [downloads] folders I am relating to are located in C:\games\Nexus Mod Manager\Fallout3\Mods\. I don't know if different OS have different file setup locations though.

I don't know if different OS have different file setup locations though.Oh, you mean NMM. You should've specified that in the OP, that way we wouldn't have to guess. I didn't even know NMM had a cache folder, I know it has a folder for mod files that get overwritten by different mods, one for downloads and one for scripts that keep track of your mods. And file paths to NMM files are the same on every OS. Anyway, I'm not sure if NMM cache can be purged, if it's anything like a web browser cache it's there only for keeping file fragments during downloading. But since it doesn't remove them automatically after download, it may be that it's used for something other than just temporary downloads folder. Try moving it to a different location, if everything works right NMM and game-wise it means it's just a temporary location so you can delete it. If it fails to work after moving the cache, that would mean you unfortunately can't remove it.
aeckhoff
I know this is quiet old but it deserves an answer so ppl dont do something stupid. The "cache" folder is useful do not delete it! it speeds up boots and allows for boot of NMM if this Isn't here it could take you hours to boot if it boots at all! Better to just leave it there the biggest file in there will be 6-900 KB not big enough to care. so take my advice and leave it Be and enjoy what ever game it may be you're playing
