SKSE causing me to lag

Hello guys

I have a really weird problem with my Skyrim. If I install SKSE, my skyrim starts to lag. It's really weird and annoying. It's also not normal lag, it's like constant frame drops. Just like older movies where you see each frame picture by picture instead of a smooth screen. It's really werid, I don't know why this is happening. My older system ran Skyrim fine without any problems and it's a weaker PC.

My old pc:

i5 4450

GTX 1070

16GB RAM

my new pc:

Ryzen 5 3600

SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT

16gb ram

I'm not sure if it's because I switched to AMD, but I could be wrong. Does anyone have AMD GPU with modded skyrim and running skyrim just fine?

Might not be SKSE by itself causing the lag. You could have either some poorly done scripts that weren't running before due to SKSE not being started or just have a lot of stuff starting up that needs to take time to complete.

The question then is this: With all mods deactivated does a new game still lag when launched with SKSE?

If not, the issue is elsewhere

If yes, then I'm clueless as to the reason

My skyrim is empty, i thought at first its mods. I decided to uninstall all of skyrim and started from scratch. I first installed 5 mods and checked if the game lags. It lagged. I started uninstalling one by one and until i find the mod causing the lag until I reached SKSE itself. Each time I start skyrim through the normal launcher and not through SKSE. It runs smoothly. It's really weird. I'm going to try and replace my new gpu with my old one and see what happens. If it doesnt lag with my new gpu, then maybe RDNA is conflicting with skse or something dunno.

Okay so I found out what the problem is. I swapped GPU's, it still didn't make a difference. I decided to try older versions of SKSE64 and IT WORKED. They ran smoothly and no problems whatsoever happened. For some reason SKSE64 2.0.19 (runtime 1.5.97) caused me to lag. while an older version (20.0.17) seems to work fine. Dunno why this is happening, but does anyone have the same issue. Is anyone experiencing problems with the latest SKSE. PLEASE REPLY.

First off, are you playing SKYRIM SE or Skyrim LE (32bit) version?

You're posting in the Skyrim (32bit) Forums, and you're saying SKSE so everybody is assuming that you're playing Skyrim LE, but now you're saying SKSE64

So which game are you modding SKyrim SE (64bit) or Skyrim LE (32bit)?

If you're modding Skyrim SE, then you're in the wrong forum and confusing everybody

The problem you're going to have, running 20.0.17 is all the mods that use SKSE64, aren't going to work with the older SKSE64 because they've been updated for the newer version of SKSE64

Unless they rely on the Address Library

So WHICH SKyrim are you modding?

How are you installing SKSE64?

Manually?

SKSE64 install
[ Installation ]
1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Skyrim SE directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\. If you see files named SkyrimSE and SkyrimSELauncher, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod. The "src" folder is only useful for programmers, most users can ignore it.
2. Copy the .pex files in Data\Scripts\ into the Data\Scripts\ folder of your installation. The .pex files are needed by all users of SKSE64.

Wait. How are you even able to run older versions of SKSE64? You are not running the latest version of SkyrimSE, are you? That is why your game lags, the latest SKSE64 was not intended to be run on older versions of the game. It is not backwards compatible. You must use the correct versions together.

What version of Skyrim do you have and where is it installed?

It's in steam. And no I'm not running older version of Skyrim. The older version of SKSE64 is 2.0.0.17 which is just a step backwards from latest version which means it's compatible with the latest version of skyrim se. Anyways, now I really found out why. Every time I install a new mod, I must relaunch NMM and that removes the lag. Dunno why, dunno what the f is what. Anyways I'll keep you updated if it continues to lag.
