breakwind
I didn't like the DB in Skyrim as much as in Oblivion. I mean the questline was alright, but I just felt as if I was never accepted, Astrid and her dog despised me and the others seemed suspicious. In Oblivion they treated you as one of their own after the initial induction, so much so that killing them all was an emotional experience...except for the Cat..and he accepted me as a brother just before I assassinated him. I know that that was the feel bethesda were looking for, that the DB and Thieves guild were on the verge of extinction, and the DB were in a shambles with no Listener, but I would have preferred a strong DB where becoming the Listener was indeed an esteemed honour
TheObstinateNoviceSmith
I can't say I liked either one at all which is why I don't join them, but as far as story goes, I liked both of them well enough. It wasn't a bad route they took in Skyrim in my opinion. Not that I don't see your point(s).
RighthandofSithis
Hard to say. The Dark Brotherhood has only been joinable since Oblivion, so since its not an on-going trend things could change. I doubt they'll cease to exist, but who knows? If the Dark Brotherhood fails, there are a few other assassin organisations that would probably take its place (like the Morag Tong perhaps). It was joinable in Daggerfall, and it seems to have a place in the TES universe. I think it would stay.

Well, I'm still not sure, because the Dark Brotherhood were almost antagonists in Tribunal. It's safe to say that it's more likely they will be available to join than not, though. CWBush83
The Dark Brotherhood quests are always among my favourite quests. I enjoyed it a great deal in Oblivion and downright loved it in Skyrim. The whole betrayal was wonderfully played out and my only regret is that it kind of tapers off and immediately afterwards. The radiant quests just don't get my freak juice flowing. Hoping they return in an eventual sequel. Perhaps with rival covens and a greater selection of unique faction gear and skills.

How is it different? I agree with Nodveidt to a large degree, though I would have specified "....who kill Innocent people..."....Bandits, Thalmor, Assassins, Thieves, Necromancers, etc.... are not innocent people, they kill/rob/destroy people for their own selfish gain....generally victimizing those who are weaker than themselves....thus a Ranger Dovahkin is doing a service in Skyrim, protecting those who can't protect themselves by routing out these Predators and putting them down....attempting to bring a little Law and Order to the Wilds I guess you could say....Murdering some defenseless Beggar or a complete stranger in a locked room without any background knowledge of any crime they may have committed, if any at all, your killing them just because your told to with zero knowledge of any threat they may be to the general Civilian populace, that's very different.
