DjaySaint
So I'm looking for a quality ENB that has a good mix of performance and visual effect. I would make and customize my own, but I haven't really found a good tutorial on what each ENB setting does and I don't know my way around ENB enough to really do so. I know how I want things to look, I just don't know how to accomplish them. Like specifically, something with a strong glow is a very desired effect. Not many ENBs I have tried really have that. I originally started with Realvision ENB and really liked it. Then I made a swap to Kountervibe ENB and fell in love with it. After Kountervibe ENB nothing else just looked as good. Even going back to the newest version of Realvision, everything just felt bleached out and just didn't pop or wow me. As awesome as Kountervibe is though, I'm trying to reduce macro stuttering and stabilize my frame rate more. At times outdoors I get anywhere between 20-40 or so fps. Some times I could be getting 40+ fps and then when I turn or make a sudden movement, I get a massive dip in fps for a second or so (macro stutter). I'd like at least a stable 40+. Some things I like:+ God rays. I love me those God rays. Nothing is more fantastic than riding by trees and seeing rays shine through. Realvision had a fantastic sun and atmosphere, and K ENB it was more subtle and barely noticeable.+ Glowing things. I like things that glow to really pop. I want glow maps to have an intense shine. K ENB does a really fantastic job at this. One thing I didn't like about Realvision is anything that glows is way too subtle for me. It's almost not noticeable whatsoever.+ Shiny things. The specular power for K ENB I thought was pretty excellent. Realvision was pretty lackluster. I like shinies. Some things I don't like:- overbearing or really dark shadows. While I absolutely loved K ENB, the shadows were too dark at times for my tastes. I'm talking like I can be in the middle of a forest during day time, and it's hard to see the ground beneath my character because the shadows are so intense. I made some tweaks to the shadows to make them less intense, but I would still like them more... realistic I suppose.- undersaturated colors or just in general low contrast. I suppose the SweetFX had more to do with this than the actual ENB though.- too much film grain. I don't mind a little film grain effect, but as much as I love K ENB, the film grain was a bit too strong and made things look a bit... well grainy lol. Was more noticeable outdoors across distances. Hardware essentials:Core i7 3770k @4.5ghzGTX 980 4gb16gb ram @1600 mhz So yeah. If anyone could point me towards an excellent ENB set up with a good mix of performance and visuals, I would appreciate it. Or if anyone knows of an excellent tutorial I can look at to help me make my own ENB, I would be appreciative of that as well. Looking forward to suggestions. Thanks! Boombro
Try natural realism. It needs NLA esp. Great lighting, night eye and performance version looks amazing.Mega-something enb. It in the second page of the enb category. If the orange was to much for you. Get the cot preset. Looks so much better with it anyways. Don't get the max edition (found in packaged folder.) Shadows are very dark.It has great colors, dark nights, night eye and great fps. Sun rises and sunsets. It doesn't have dof, so add enbeffectprepass.fx from any enb with that you like.To remove dark shadows and film grain. Open the enb GUI in game. Disable detailed shadows in the left side. In the right side, look for film grain. Edited September 5, 2015 by Boombro
Sevenplagues
My new choice nr 1 is Vividian enb with Project Reality: Climates of Tamriel http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36067/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17802/? (<- just copy+paste i don't know why it won't work as a link  ) with your machine u can easily choose the high settings. There is an option for real and - for you - shiny fantasy setting. Normal settings already look better than any other enb i have seen (and don't cost a single fps on my machine - i don't know how he did it)...and i slowly saw them all. U have tons of options while installing the enb by NMM or similar programs. looking at your specs don't forget Tamriel Reloaded HD -> http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61995/?...or if u're like me and don't like some of the new textures try Textures & Parallax + the single Tamriel Reloaded Files like Grasses / Trees and so on -> http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46925/? + Enhanced Lights & FX -> http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27043/? the mix of Climates + Vividian + ELFX is mindblowing Other stuff u might like: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5504/?http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5388/?http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/28110/? (don't forget the marvellous snow from the Vividian page. I can't run it on my medium potato but i heard it produces very many wet panties)+ don't forget to end with Pure Water LAndscape Texture for the best riverbeds. You find it in the files section under optionals - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1111/? - they don't cost a single frame like every Purity modIf u want more just pm  Edited September 3, 2015 by Sevenplagues
DjaySaint
Thank you for the replies. I tried out Vividian. I've also tried a variety of lighting mods between ELFX, relighting skyrim, NLA, etc. For the moment I'm giving Serenity another go. I think I'm leaning towards making a custom ENB setup to get the visual effects I want while trying to get the most performance possible. Even with Vividian I'm still getting some macrostuttering at times (and just in general lower fps than I expect), which I feel should not be happening with my machine and setup. I went 2k or less textures for nearly everything as well so I'm not running out of Vram. Just not sure what else to change at this point other than ENB. Sevenplagues
btw if u want to get rid of the grain effect just open (at least for vividian) with any texteditor in Steam/Steamapps/common/Skyrim/enbseries effect.txt.ini - and search for Enable Grain=true and set it to false - that's all Edited September 9, 2015 by Sevenplagues
