[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [8.1][0008]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

The Five Domains held critical talks over the question of missing chicken eggs. That is the Kingdom of Greg, the Queendom of Mavis, the Commonwealth of Samuel, the Republic of Dave and even the almost radical Collective of Lilly. Each leader sent a temporary avatar, a psychic expression, to the meeting that resulted in discovering that the culprit was a fox with its young. The vixen, and her kittens, were taken in by Lilly who influenced the mother to stop stealing eggs and upsetting hens.

Other critical discussions took place such as numbers of guards on the borders being restricted to five per domain; this decision was easy to make as even this number, of guard worthy individuals, was hard to attain.

Queen Mavis accused King Greg of allowing his goats to eat grass from one of her paddocks. The issue was quickly resolved because the royal Greg did not want to be kicked out of Mavis' bed.

A new five way trade deal was made!

A new resolution was made to fix up resources they all used such as a handpump, a mainframe computer and the precious archives of wondrous things; it even had an almost full collection of NukaCola types.

As always the LittleFateWoman sat at the meeting and was barely noticed by the five despite their inherited psychic abilities. She once again provided the Five Domains with a small increase in resources including boxes of cheesy crackers, a breeding pair of goats, garden mittens and cans of baked beans.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [9.1][0009]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

Zombies stumbled, a little, as they ambled towards the LyonsPriders who carefully shot dead each softly blue glowing figure. When the corpses hit the ground they were already disintegrating as if aging rapidly as natural forces caught up with what they should have been like. They wore mixtures of clothing be that worker's coveralls, military fatigues, civilian garbs or much else. It was of interest to notice that a few wore scientist, lab technician and related type outfits as if from a hidden research development site. The repulsive sensation, of antinatural forces at work, was troubling but Sarah knew that those creatures were not the real threat.

She spoke to the others via helmet radio 2ways. "This is most likely a diversionary tactic and so we must be ready for a much more deadly attack."

The LyonsPriders had been preparing to move on, from their much needed break, when the first wave of zombies had appeared.

The two snipers, with their special adapted battlerifles, kept picking of the shamblers before they came into certain range of the other guns there.

It came to the Sentinel then a surprising truth. "Those zombies are not attacking but are seeking escape from their terrible state of existence so keep on mercy killing them."

Thus the killing continued but now its 'feel' had changed to one of positive mercy.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [10.1][0010]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

The LittleFateMan met with Uncle Leo inside the rubble buried, underground, carpark and with them was a Rainbowlord serving the Rainbowgods. With their combined powers, of very different kinds, and other available resources, they had made positive changes to the new sanctuary. Folks there had helped be they such as radhumans, robots, androids, ex vaultfolk, ghoulmans, escaped zetan slaves of aetans and rebel zetans. More refugees, survivalists and settlers arrived with every passing day.

In TechVault 101 the Vault Survivor, Jasmine, had her 16th birthday and was given a .22LR boltrifle (bolt-action rifle) , an electric stunfork, and other items making up an emergency kit. As troubles continued to grow in the underground complex, other vault citizens were also preparing for civil struggle. Jasmine noted that her father, the scientific genius James Anderson, was spending increasingly more time in his laboratory but she had no real idea what he was up to; this was despite his official statements on the matter.

More escaped, TriInstitute, androids reached RivetCity from the 'Commonwealth' up north bringing strange, and disturbing, news with them.

The LyonsPriders continued, slowly, through the underground area until they reached a hidden bunker and, with it, many discoveries often leading to more questions.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [11.1][0011]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

Around the LyonsPriders stretched a large chamber full of armaglass display cases with each having one bigger item or multiple smaller ones. There were emergency lights switched on through out the space but also standard ones that were switched off.

The Umbrella Corporation, or UmbCorp, had started out as a small commercial company that designed, manufactured and sold special purpose umbrellas. After successfully marketing bodyguard umbrellas, of bullet resistant shields and hidden guns, they had branched out to umbrella tree stands and been driven to sell small electric umbrella beach buggies. Celebrity image umbrellas, UV proof sun umbrellas, and other varieties had all gained large profits or so it was officially.

Various factions claimed that the real wealth, of UmbCorp, came from semilegal and illegal activities from designer biotech drugs to pipe dream guns, sexdroids, holotaped hard porn, gladiator games, adult entertainment virtual reality programs, and unregulated gambling casinos.

Display cases showed that those claims were very much true but that the biggest profits came from developing deadly biotech weapons, strange longevity treatments and body-mind enhancement drugs.

There were government, corporate, silenced incidents of shocking nature that had taken place but the information there only had basic data about them. The only event had been the nuking of the UmbCorp metropolis of Racoon City that had followed mysterious happening linked to the large, underground, Hive complex below that city.

The LyonsPriders noted a wide range of types of umbrellas. A large sign had a supposedly naked woman behind a pink, frilly edged, umbrella of suggestively translucent nature. A cooling umbrella released cool air that drifted downwards to the user. There was even a convertible umbrella tent.

Mostly though the whole idea of umbrella sales was a diversion from UmbCorp's real intentions.

It may help readers if you read my very last post before this as this one is directly linked to that.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [11.2][0012]

A long, curving, counter was clearly an oversized reception counter where there were recesses with chairs, and computer terminals, for receptionists to deal with visitors from. A transparent, highly bullet resistant, screen was there to protect staff and the counter itself proved to be an armoured barrier.

Clustered vending machines, in booths half filled alcoves, offered drinks, souvenirs, snacks, pamphlets and other items. They VMs were not only full of goodies, those with perishables had built in preserver units and the consumables were in good condition.

It was almost as if preparations had been made for their arrival but if that was the case the ramifications were many and not, as yet, easily discovered.

That was when the LyonsPriders came upon the smashed open, triple armour layered, powerdoor and after warily going through the large, open, doorway came upon a most disturbing find that was also to prove to be quite valuable in future.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [12.1][0013]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

Uncle Leo smiled calmly as his niece, Lilly, danced in the large area given over to her by a largely nervous group. Spectators tended to keep to the popular spots that were further back from the very capable safety barriers. In her mind Lilly was a sweet, small, young girl of a ballerina. In truth she was a great, hulking, supermutant capable of accidentally crushing large sedan cars. Under the influence, of Uncle Leo, this situation was improving and now the LittleFateMan was also causing her to be both more graceful and safer.

The LittleFateMan never sweated but his smooth, offwhite, skin had an odd sheen to it as if lightly polished. He smiled as Lilly did an almost non awkward spin. "In her mind she really is a very gorgeous young child. There may be a more radical way of improving her situation and making her not only happier, and more fulfilled, but more useful to your group."

The great arena chamber was had many uses. After Lilly was done, which would be fairly soon as she tended to get bored even with that, it would become again a training area; that is not just for fighting but for survival techniques, crafting and in other ways.

Uncle Leo nodded. "Sounds most promising! Of course she has to be kept safe."

The LittleFateMan nodded. "Of course! More freed slaves have come into the SanctuaryDC be they ghoulmans, radmans, radhumans or androids. New kinds will start to arrive such as synthdroids, animans and clonemans."

Smooth skinned ghoulmans, often being former feral ghouls, had been given the new five treatment process of smooth skinning. Supermutants were tamer and smarter, at least by their standards. Androids were removed of slave programming while their were tamed radbeasts including a pair of deathclaws.

Odd ones out were a small group of vaultfolk as vaultmans from TechVault101; they had escaped the increasingly oppressive rule of that vault's overseers and the growing threat of a vault civil war.

Uncle Leo sighed. "Delicate, precise, steps are needed to carry out the Great Plan."

The LittleFateMan nodded even as he pulled a large foodbar out from one of his ever full pockets and passed it to the hulking supermutant.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [13.1][0014]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

Sarah spoke words from a plastic page that she was reading. "Z-virus was what they called it, informally, but there were more than one variant of such viruses. People, and some few other types of mammals, died and some of those became zombified. It became clear, to XFISA (XFiles Investigations Security Agency) that it was far more than a standard type of set of viruses but hybrids that were as much infestation as infection. Did the UmbCorp Board really know what their research people were up to? More than one UmbCorp CEO launched probes into such matters but with only mixed results."

She shook her helmeted head in wonder. "The GVirus was first researched developed in a basement bunker of a mansion on the outskirts of RacoonCity. The Hive was still in its early stage of construction and the Red Queen supercomputer still being assembled. What most people did not know, if they knew of the Hive, was that it was the RedHive and other Hives were even more secretly designed, constructed and used. Openly, a few were disguised as obscure techvaults, military bunkers or other underground sites but most had only unofficial existence. The RedHive was semiofficial as in generally documented by secret government."

Sarah turned the plastic page over only to find it blank. Then she returned it to the shelf slot she had taken it from but only after digitally photographing it. There were a few such pages but they were of scattered topics and often relied on background information that was not there.

Around them were display cases of early types of power armour, robots, cyborg units, turrets and much else besides. There were some alien zetan devices including two disintegrater rifles of elegantly strange design and most of a partly damaged suit that could have been a spacesuit.

Oddly enough was a supermutant type creature, smaller and slimmer than any of the supermutants, but supposedly created before any supermutant was. Supermutant creation was tied heavily to the rise of the SteelBrotherhood but less directly to that of the SteelOrderhood. It was labelled as a 'metamutant' but apart from that no information was given.

In an isolated corner they found some useful data about the bunker they were in which was largely below the mansion that they had been targeting; it was close to a display of amazing umbrellas that were designed only to keep off the rain.

I suggest you reread the post before this one before reading this one as they are directly linked.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [13.2][0015]

Taped crudely, and hastily, to a small area of bare wall above a fire extinguisher, was a thin semitransparent envelope with sheets of paper making up a thin pack. When Sarah opened the envelope the sheets turned out to be hard printouts of computer data including writings, diagrams and dull coloured photographs. What lay, in those documents, were information about hidden chambers, doors and other features being all in that big, cluttered chamber.

An opened, hidden, closet sized chamber exposed displayed injector tipped umbrellas used to infect unknowing victims with biothreats be they viruses, bacteria or other kinds of microorganisms; there had also been experiments with vaccines and antidotes along with unspecified other 'agents'. Only the umbrellas were there and none of the items that had been utilised, the umbrellas having been sterialised.

There was a larger chamber with flexible armoured hazmat suits, being heavy duty with three layers of protection and special systems.

Another chamber held adapted eyebot robots capable of stunning, and injecting, victims. With them were eyebots with upgraded laserguns, and lifting capacity, that appeared to be designed for killing zombies. The LyonsPriders took five of these with them, leaving five behind.

A small, hidden, armory revealed rows of xolaserguns, handflamers and other devices designed to deal with zombies in more confined spaces including high voltage handbidents; these were like small tridents but with only two prongs. They took a small selection of the tech.

At last, behind the big counter, a normal looking elevator door slid open to show what looked to be an elevator chamber and perhaps it was; the real trick to it was that the back wall, of that space, was a secret door opening to a short hallway and another elevator. This one was big enough to take them all and to plunge them quite deep beneath the ground.

Matters were getting very interesting.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [14.1][0016]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

EagleEnclaver Stormscouts threaded southwards, towards WashingtonDC, carefully avoiding a local settlement of radhumans, radmans and ghoulmans. Egglestan was a major trading hub based on a prewar, domed, settlement of the upper middle class. It would be up to the heavy armoured-armed Stormtroopers to take them on if not the roving forces of medium armoured-armed Stormrangers. In relative terms, Stormscouts were lighter armoured-armed but only in those terms.

Captain Casper Friendly, of the infamous Stormghosts, was one of a minority, of EagleEnclaver soldiers, who was not overconfident when it came to invading, conquering and occupying DC. When whispers had come to the taskforce about a type of Steelforce being in the targeted area, most of his comrades had assumed they would be like the more primitive technology equipped SteelBrotherhood of old. Even back then the SteelBrotherhood had won but since then the EagleEnclave had advanced a good deal in technological terms; why couldn't they all see that the Steelfools could not, would not, have done the same? If nothing else the traditional enemies could have found buried troves of prewar scientific data, technical artefacts or other such treasures; the EagleEnclaven had done so!

Their special power armour changed basic colouration as they moved from a more open area, of mutant growths dotted by mounds of rubble, into a cluster of buildings. There were ghoulers close to them but even they had the sense not to attack the EagleEnclavers that had come so far from the EagleEnclave deeply hidden in former Alaska. A deathclaw howled a territorial warning to others of its kind but, despite their general reputation, they were wise enough to choose their targets carefully.

[1] SteelOrderhood First Arrives in Washington DC [15.1][0017]

The LittleFateObserver was active, was observing but not observed except by a very few!

Thus the LyonsPride entered the GoldHive as designed, constructed and run by an alliance of GoMIRC, TechCorps and the UmbCorp. GoMIRC was the Government, Military, Industrial, Research Complex. They were met by a wave of shambling, snarling, zombies that fell quickly to well aimed bullets to the head. The corpses were a mixture of security guards, soldiers, orderlies in coveralls, a few scientists, suit clad figures and others, yes others, as there were often others.

Some of the others were in curious spacesuit like outfits that had, every one of them, holes smashed into the helmet visors.

Sarah frowned: "They went somewhere most strange, crossing a kind of transdimensional barrier to go to a place that perhaps they should not have done. The alien energies, of that other dimensional realm, still cling to them as a much weakened aura. That is where they were infested and from where they returned from to bring their curse with them."

There were those who had died fighting the zombies with out being zombified and zombies that had perished long ago in the desperate conflict. They had come to a great, open, techvault type wheeldoor opened to show another large chamber with signs of centuries old battle having taken place.

Yet, inset into another wall, was a second wheeldoor firmly closed and when they checked it, it turned out to be locked. Sarah decided that it was best to focus on the accessible space beyond the open wheeldoor.

The open doorway led to a great metal walkway that was high above a concrete floor. On it was sprawled the long dead body of a massive supermutant that was shorter than a behemoth but far broader in width. It was also clearly part machinery and covered with metallic plates of armour; it was a kind of cyborg supermutant which was not a pleasing though. It had destroyed a very large number of zombies but what ever had defeated it had been no mere human zombie. Something had torn open its chest and ripped out much of what had been inside it. Gatling-cannons had failed to stop it as had the other cyborgmoth's weapons.

There were more long dead zombies sprawled across the great floor below along with highly damaged security robots and deceased humans.

Which was when the artificial, but noticeably female, voice spoke to them. "Go no further in that direction but return to the locked wheeldoor that you found; in that direction is the great abomination and its followers that will easily destroy you. I am the GoldQueen of the GoldHive."
