  1. It could be done with NVSE using the TapKey function, would be TapKey 1You could rebind it to another key by using the IsKeyPressed function. This however requires some scripting knowledge. If you can't find anything on the nexus, then you might be faster buying a new keyboard. ;-)
  2. Mint is a very nice client system, already tried it, really nice, like the lmde and kde versions. I'm quite in favour of debian anyway. For minimal server systems, e.g. as proxy firewall combination, it's awesome. Suse is appealing too, maybe a bit peculiar in some regards, but as said, for some reason I'm all for debian. Maybe it's because debian is most straight forward and doesn't guide too much. However, Windows 8.1 is one of my favourite client systems as well. It's very stable and quite performant for a Windows machine. For some reason I like the UI very much. It's not bad that os and as soon as you got used to it, you wont ever go back to XP.
  3. Yep,the mmc is a very powerfull tool. :-) You could change all these policies or just enable and use the built-in Administrator account. Not a fancy user name but he at least should have all previleges. If you go offline, then no worries. But for the average user, stuff like UAC really helps and the OS still is very usable. Windows made some progress here. ;-) May I ask what linux distro you prefer?
  4. Imho it's kind of a typical using-the-console-bug. You should have reloaded your game earlier as soon as you realized, that there's a problem regarding the health drain. Now the quest script bug stays with you, till you either set the variables, use a mod that nulifies the script or till you chose to go back before the bug happened.
  5. This sounds like the toxic cloud effect is still active on your character. There should be a console command to remove those effects, looking it up... In the meantime you could try to use a mod like this: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51003/? In regards of loading bugs of saves and cells, you could try this as well http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2709349-game-pauses-before-bethesda-logo-music-continues/?p=24112064 Edit probably it's that script: I'd assume that one of those variables are not set. Since you can't use the console to set them correctly without having NVSE, it should be easier to use a mod like I linked above.
  6. Windows 7 and newer operating systems also have an included anti malware scanner called Windows Defender. It is strongly recommended to exclude the Fallout.exe from its scanning routine, since it is the Windows Defender that creates the infinite save game loading bug. Hit Windows key on your keyboard, enter Defender, open the Windows Defender, go to settings, exclusions and add FalloutNV.exe FalloutNVLauncher.exe nvse_loader.exe to the exclusion list of the Windows Defender.
  7. None particular, your operating system should bring along everything needed. DirectX comes with the os or the steam install. Software or updates needed could be found in the Redist folder of your game install. ...\SteamApps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Redist\... If you have driver which are not working, you'd find them in the device manager reporting an issue. Other games would have similar issues, but not necessarily. Maybe, did you install Steam including the game it self into the Program Files folder? Did you try to run it as Admin? While reinstalling the game, did you install the entire game and mods from scratch or did you take a backup? (the default ini might be modified, maybe causing issues) If you deactivate a mod by unchecking it in the launcher it doesn't mean that the entire mod is not active. There still can be elemants which have been placed into the folder structure of the game, which still can be active because of the archive invalidation. This in some rare cases also can cause issues. ... Just some rondom thoughts, Sometimes even a dvd rom can lock a computer. Make sure that it is empty. In case you can't track it down, you may try the following: - back up your game dir - completely unistall the game - reboot - reinstall FNV (not somewhere in Program Files) - try to run a vanilla game from a vanilla data folder ---> if that works without the issue, then add your mods one by one
  8. The constant health loss is part of the sierra madre atmosphere. You'll have to restore you health frequently by eating for example. If you use such console commands a lot, you sooner or later will screw up quests. I would avoid useing them. The only fix I know would be to load an older save and try again.
  9. There's a way to gain full Admin rights by enabling the built-in Administrator account, which is disabled by default. But since Windows 7 or 8.1 has another security concept, I wouldn't browse the web with admin rights. The user of cause is a security threat so it's wise to give users and programs only admin rights if neccessary. Which btw works very well. One could compare it with sudo in the linux world. However, if you want to activate the Administrator account, have a read here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825104.aspx#UseMMCConsole There also is a way by using the Computer Management console like this https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770642.aspx Then log off and back in as Administrator.
  10. There's a security feature called User Account Control, it protects every program that is located in the "Program Files" folder. This usually makes sense and really is usefull but there's a problem with Fallout NV since running a program without rights like shown in bbens46's link, doesn't allow changes to anything in that folder. So in order to keep this security feature and to make your game moddable, I'd suggest to install New Vegas outside of the Program Files folder, maybe under C:\GAMES\Fallout... With this method you can run the games with user rights just fine. However, in order to properly work with the GECK, you should run the GECK.exe as Admin. I keep it as a rule to not to install any game in Program Files. Some games will still demand admin rights, but many run fine without.
  11. Very decent system. Nope, you are right, your cpu / hardware is more than capable to handle it. Leaves the software in question. Do you have anty malware scanner running, like av scanner? If that's not the cause, then you have to figure out what mod or mod combination it is. Frankly this long freeze is very unusual having such a powerfull processor. As said, mods which overwrite a tremendous amount of records can cause a serious delay, but this should be no match for an i7.
  12. Might be a combination of mods with loads of references and a weak cpu. The mods references are being checked on start up. If you have an older cpu this may take a while. So the game may appear to freeze.
  13. To elaborate a bit, the default launcher is fancy for normal user and despite of not having the ability to change the mod order it works. It recreates the ini file in your documents folder every time you launch it - taking the default ini in your game dir as pattern. So every change you do to the default ini is written into the usual ini. No biggie, but rather unknown I suppose.
  14. And btw, I think you may have sth similar in you mind like what I did, turning radio stations on or off via hotkey or switching them or sth like this. Since there was no function I could use, I scripted a way around by using integers. It has the drawback, that those integers are not set while the player uses the radio pipboy tab to switch a station, but within the mod, with my hotkeys, it works. Since the function was added to circumvent the pipboy radion tab, it is good enough for that purpose.
  15. Hey devinpatterson, yep, he might be able to do sth with NVSE. I have no idea how to develop a script extender plugin, so it would be a cool thing. The link in my signature is old, I removed it. There's a brief outline in my mod description here and a more detailed one here. tT
  16. I don't think so. Going through radio activator doesn't do the trick, since if they are activated that only means that one could hear the broadcast, not that one actually does.
  17. The ini file to edit is the one in the fallout new vegas game dir, ... Steam/SteamApps/common/Fallout New Vegas/Fallout_default.ini However, what freezing do you experience? If you load a save game?
  18. Might be that a mod prevents save games from loading. Quite difficult to figure out. However, you can clean your saves from mods by using this method: http://arwenevecom.ipage.com/Fallout/FO-tips.htm#Clean_Save
  19. Might be the merged patch? Frankly, I didn't need one yet in FNV. You may give a try without. Also mak3 sure your game is up to date and that the FalloutNV.exe is excluded from MSE or the Windows Defender. They are known for preventing savegames from loading.
  20. Already tried to exclude the game from your anti virus software, which might be windows security essentials or the windows defender? Anti virus software is causing a save game problem. Exclude the FalloutNV.exe and at least thw infinite loading bug will be gone.
  21. Check the dependencies of your mods. You also mixed some esps under the esms, move them domwn in your load order. Also download FNVEdit and load all your mods there and have a look at the error log.
  22. Esm files always need to load before esps, in the entire list. You have mixed some esps under the esms. Try to find some load order guides, load your mods in FNVEdit and check the error log.
  23. Ever tried to load the mod in FNVEdit? Highly suggest to give a try. Edit Whats the TES Editor you are mentioning? Could also be a file version problem.
