  1. Minor issue: I cannot log in by filling in my account / password and hitting enter, I have to press the button by mouse.
  2. I'll probably play vanilla for a while and if I find something that really bothers me and could easily be 'fixed', I'd write a quick mod for it. Later on likely a player home, not sure what else might come up.. my inspiration comes from playing the game usually.
  3. Humans try to see things there aren't for a lot of reasons, some looking for explanations, other just because they've grown up hearing about them. Mostly because it's our nature to see connections everywhere, as was especially necessary in our early days. I can't think of any superstition I have, but if someone would classify one's habit as such, the person would admit to himself he is believing in nonsense.
  4. To be honest, I don't like it, at all. As I mentioned before the functionality is decent and improved on many areas, but the layout feels cheap and outdated. A lot of 'web 2.0' design elements have been used, while frankly we've moved on from there to more sleek and simple designs. I'll probably make it more to my liking with stylish (firefox addon) once it's released, might post that later for people that prefer the old version like me.
  5. The Data folder is usually in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\data". Once it's there you can tick it in FOMM. However, I always create an empty the folder (even with a single ESP) and then create a package within FOMM. It'll be placed in the proper directory automatically and I make sure I don't have to look for stuff later on.
  6. I finally went to the Sierra Madre yesterday and finished it in one (long) sitting. The hardcore mode wasn't any problem with all the vendor machines around. I really liked this DLC, much more than Honest Hearts (it felt so empty). I had read some bad reviews earlier, so I didn't have too high expectations. The references to the future DLC was kind of stupid though, that felt kind of forced (about the second courier). In the end I managed to bring 3 gold bars with me, most of the gear I scrounged up and repaired had better weight / money so I could've brought one more if I really wanted.

  8. I'm pretty sure it's referring to the same conjuration skill as before. There's only two type of things you can summon in TES, which are either corpses and skeletons, or creatures from outside Nirn (oblivion). The only exception in Oblivion would be Bears and Ghosts I think. 'Raising the dead' -> Skeletons, Zombies 'Creations from Oblivion' -> Imp, Clannfear, etc.
  9. Totally agree! I think such an effect would suit the setting brilliantly well. Thus far I have never really felt like being in a scorching hot desert, so this could increase the immersion quite a bit. Perhaps the gas-cloud effect could help as a resource, my modding skills are probably too limited at this point for such a mod sadly.
  10. The biggest issue I have with those mods is that because of the amount being released, It has become quite difficult to find 'normal' and 'fitting' armor and clothing. Perhaps a tag system, or even category, could filter them out. Either way, it has been discussed many times and seeing it's a big part of the community, we'll just have to deal with it.
  11. Sorry, I have the need to correct every minor mistake in Elder Scrolls Lore, Morrowind is part of Tamriel, as are all the provinces of The Empire. The province of you are in in Oblivion is Cyrodiil, the capital of Tamriel. As I said before, I have the compulsive need to correct errors people say regarding lore, so please do not hate me for it. :psyduck: My bad, thanks for correcting. I'm a lore fan, but I always mistake those two :P
  12. It comes with the same 'high quality map' that the pre-orders get, that has been confirmed on the news post on nexus earlier. I don't think the extra materials should cost so much more, especially considering the difference in price outside of America. Even so I'm still going to buy it. I've spend enough time in the TES games to make the 'donation' make sense.
  13. Awesome work! Good call that they combined the different weapon types into two-handed and one-handed. I never liked having to switch weapons all the time, to level both Blunt and Sword as a warrior-type. Combining Speech and Mercantile the same, it just makes sense.
  14. Personally I still feel like Fallout 3 was the better game, at least for my play style. It's more impressive to look at the ruined landscape of a once-huge city, than at a desert that remains a desert. And considering my main reason of playing is exploring and wandering around, that obviously suits me better. Replaying New Vegas seems harder for me, but I can't really think of why. Perhaps the fact that you're more or less forced into the story, while at the previous game everything was less connected to each other.
  15. For me, Oblivion was the first of the TES series I played. Once I discovered mods and the ability to shape the world to my optimal experience I spend so many hours, until replaying become less of an option due to having been everywhere. I don't really like custom content, just immersion-improving mods and gameplay tweaks. So eventually I considered playing Morrowind, seeing it should contain a vast amount of content I hadn't seen yet. At first I have to admit it was really difficult to get into it, in the same way I got into Oblivion. The way you interact with people is so different (you click on 'topic links' inside text) and the difficulty curve for combat is different because it relies more on stats than on your actions. After a while though, it got better and better. With various mods it can look as good as Oblivion and the unique setting of Morrowind makes the world so much more interesting than Tamriel. I remember going into the smugglers cave just outside the starting town, I died 3 times before I got through it, and it was so much more exciting. I'll see if I can find a list of the mods I use and really recommend on trying this game. There's so much depth and if you can get past the initial lack of features you're used to from Oblivion, you will find it difficult to choose between the two.
  16. Personally I'm playing almost entirely for the immersion, so the more a mod fits into the original setting, the better. Very minor details can be enough for me to pass on a mod, if I can't change it myself. The basic rule is, if it's obvious that it's a mod, it's not for me. Most notably, I avoid any mod that uses voice actors. To be more precise; when any NPC's that should be able to speak are used. Although some voice actors may have done a pretty good job, the fact remains that Oblivion uses so few voices, it's instantly an immersion-breaker for me. Another good example is clothing and armor. Tons of detailed and beautiful gear just stands out so much from the rest. The same goes for hairstyles and faces. If the entire world has a certain uglyness, I don't want to have a perfect skin like a stranded alien.
  17. I didn't notice as first either, but there's a fifth core outside the borders (and the sixth is missing). I guess the program wasn't made for this many cores :P
  18. Increasing your CPU to run at quad 4ghz should be a considerable gain, though getting it stable and in a decent temperature might be somewhat of a challenge. Seeing you're a tweaking fan, I guess you have a fancy tower and such to match? :P I haven't overclocked any part of my current setup yet, though I probably should sometime (seeing the i7 is kind of made for it). Then again, I really like a quiet PC, so I prefer fans on slow rotation xD

  21. I bought all the Humble Bundles so far, it's great to see it being a recurring event (this is the fourth, including the frozenbyte). Usually I pay $25~40, even when I have some of the games already. There's so few game developers that also release their stuff for Linux, another reason to love these bundles.

Just to elaborate on the 'disappearing loot' question: Most containers are set to re-spawn after a certain amount of days (I think the default is 3), unless they're set otherwise in the G.E.C.K. A common mistake for people new to modding is to add many containers in a player home and forgetting to set them to not re-spawn (i.e. people losing their stuff after a while). A mod as described above might be possible, but seems rather complicated for an issue that isn't really there :)
  23. I just hope they take their time and create something with as much content and roaming ability as Oblivion. Both F3 and FNV feel a lot less replayable than the colorful world of Oblivion.

  25. I'm looking for the mod that moves boats around with the current, it was named 'Rock, rock, rock your boat'. I can only seem to find a youtube video of it: Did the author remove it? The mod really added something to the game, subtle as it was.
