  1. I believe this started with 1.8, as I'm getting it as well. If I remember correctly, this is a new idle animation added by Dragonborn. I haven't noticed any issues with it besides the error on cell load.
  2. Thanks! The Great Valley is probably my new favorite area, I'm quite pleased with how it it is turning out. :)
  3. No problem, was such an odd issue. Glad the fix worked for you as well!
  4. It's only showing one image on SkyrimNexus- can you email us some more at [email protected]? :)
  5. Thanks, I'll look into mounted enemies! I haven't seen enemies use mounted combat, so I'm not sure how that'd work, but I'll try some stuff out. :)
  6. Thank you, that means a lot! We're definitely dedicated enough to continue our steady pace for however long it takes. :)
  7. Also, one last image that wouldn't quite fit in the post:
  8. Summer Update Time! We're releasing a bunch of new screen shots that show what we have been working all on summer. From the re-imagined Plains of Sorrow to the forests of the Heartland, we have a quite a few new things we'll be showing within the images. Some of the new things shown off include; - 2 of the 3 new playable races. - The Heartland, the forested lands in southern Arelia, and home of Arelia's capital. - Our redesigned color palette for the Plains of Sorrow. - A screen showcasing an open city. Yes, we will be having open cities. - Elven Ruins Also with the screenshots, we are releasing our first podcast! We talk over a few general topics concerning Ethas: Embrace of Destiny, and what it's all about. It provides a first insight into the world of Ethas, and what you can expect in Embrace of Destiny. http://www.moddb.com/mods/ethas-embrace-of-destiny/videos/ethas-embrace-of-destiny-podcast-01 And last, but not least, we are also releasing the main theme for Ethas: Embrace of Destiny, composed by our own Justin Hardin! We hope you enjoy this look into the feel and some of the atmosphere we are going for within the musical realm that will be brought to you in Embrace of Destiny. If anybody is interested in joining the Ethas team or is interested in voice acting, email us at [email protected]. If you're looking to become a team member, be sure to include examples of what you've created in the past. The Ethas team has a very open workflow, so you won't be forced into a specific position, you'd pretty much be free to do whatever you want (within reason!). Remember to keep watch, as we'll still be updating in the future with more stuff! (Images are put in spoiler tags to help slower computers with load times)
  9. Oh, and yeah, summer update is tomorrow. It'll include a bunch of new screenshots, a podcast, and a little something extra! ;)
  10. I deleted the meshes in /Data/meshes/Architecture/windhelm. For some reason, one of those meshes had gotten corrupted or something.
  11. Which scene specifically? Have you retrieved the fuel cell controller?

Also, I answer every question in the Alton comments section, so posting any on there is fine!

  12. Hey guys! We're gearing up for our summer progress update, which you can expect in the coming weeks. Get ready for plenty of exciting stuff, including episode 1 of a podcast we'll be starting. Before we record said podcasts, any questions you guys have for us that you want us to answer?
  13. I have a pretty simple request- I'd love to have the hooded monk robes simply not have a hood. Now that might sound silly, but I don't want to simply remove the hood mesh from the outfit. What I'm looking for is the hood mesh without the actual hood part, like so: The mesh itself is here: Data\meshes\clothes\monk\monkhood_1.nif Basically, I'd love to have that mesh with only the lower half. I'd love to be able to see my characters face, but I like the scarf-looking part.
  14. This has to be the first issue I've had with Skyrim that I simply haven't been able to solve. I'm getting a CTD every time I look to the east when first entering Windhelm. Things I've tried: 1) Disabling all mods/disabling each mod individually. 2) I've verified the integrity of the game cache via Steam. 3) Loading a different save. 4) COC'ing to Windhelm from the main menu. 5) Turning the graphics down from Ultra to Low. This is the only thing that has any effect- it takes longer to crash, I have to walk further east into the city for it to do so. What I'm guessing, based on my results when turning the settings from Ultra to Low, is that there is a specific actor or object causing the game to crash when he or she is loaded. It would make sense that the actor/object would take longer to crash the game on Low settings, as Actor and Object fade distances are much lower. Any ideas?
  15. No, this is completely separate from Nirn. Ethas is the name of the world it takes place on, and in Embrace of Destiny, you play in the countries of Arelia and Virardan. While we're still quite a ways off from release, we have certainly accomplished quite a bit in the past few months. And as far as new races go... stay tuned for more info on that later this summer. ;)
  16. Both, actually! When you load an existing save, you'll have a spell added to your inventory, simply titled "Travel to Ethas." When you travel, that spell is removed and a second spell is added, obviously titled "Travel to Skyrim." These spells follow the same rules as fast travel, i.e. if you are in combat, falling, fast travel has been disabled by a quest, etc., you can't switch worlds. It works quite well, and allows for players to extend their playthroughs with a completely new experience. On the other hand, there will also be a message that appears when starting a new game, asking which world they'd like to start in. If you start in Ethas, you can switch to Skyrim and start the quest there. The only difference will be that it will skip the character creation UI, as that causes some issues with resetting skills. The same is true when starting in Skyrim and switching to Ethas. Basically, we're trying to conform to all preferences and playstyles. Also, we'll take note of your name for voice acting. We're not quite at that stage yet, but when you get your mic out, feel free to send over some samples to Jhardingame, the audio expert. :)
  17. That's pretty much it. While procedural generation certainly can do a good job of making a unique landscape, it's much easier to give different areas a specific feel by hand placing objects.
  18. Keep in mind that we're not procedurally generating anything, all of the objects and textures are hand-placed by either Justin or I. Just thought I should mention that, since generation seems to be a pretty popular choice. Do I have anything against generating exterior detail? No, I used it a bit in Alton. But still, I prefer doing it by hand.
  19. Alright, something I've been planning for a while is happening tomorrow. 18 hour modding day #1! I will literally be modding nonstop (well, besides eating and those other unimportant things) for 18 hours, running from 8am-2am, maybe a bit later. This is something I plan to do multiple times during the summer, seeing as I got a ton done when I did it one day for Alton. Should be fun! ;)
  20. Like Alton, the scope and scale of the project means it will be quite a long time before it's released. This is a multi-year project. ;)
  21. Some interesting news- Ethas's website is now fully HTML5! What does this mean? For one, HTML5 is a lot more optimized and less resource-intensive than Flash. Another major plus is that instead of having a clunky mobile-optimized site for phones and tablets, the full site is accessible from all devices. Anyways, work on Ethas goes well! Plenty of progress on the Western Reach and other secret areas that we can't show off. I'll put up a new tutorial soon for all of you thinking about creating a large-scale project, look for that in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here's a nice image of only the most fearsome creature to ever exist. Ever. http://www.risingsunofnihon.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Coconut-Crab-1.jpg
  22. Thanks! Definitely, I worked on Alton for almost three years, so we'll have no problem getting Ethas finished! Like I said above, I worked on Alton, IL for Fallout 3 for almost three years straight- definitely won't abandon Ethas! And as we've said in previous posts, you'll be able to choose at any time to play through Skyrim or Ethas, as well as the ability to choose between Ethas/Skyrim when starting a new game. Just like Alton, Ethas is completely separate, meaning that just about any mod will be compatible. Glad to hear it. :P
  23. No ETA, except for "not anytime soon." Seeing as it's such a large project, it will take quite a long time to get to completion. ;)
  24. Come one, come all, the first screenshots of Ethas: Embrace of Destiny. http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7752/westernreachcreek.jpg A creek in the Western Reach http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/9441/sendinn.jpg A woodcutter near an inn, also in the Western Reach http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/8164/plainsofsorrow.jpg The Plains of Sorrow, with the Western Reach in the distance
