  1. Factions? Hopefully as meaningful as factions in NV, instead of crapfactions like 3, where even if you sided with Eden, Enclave troops would still pewpew you. Indeed as meaningful as factions in NV. You side with one, the other hates you, and the other stops attacking you. The story also shifts completely based on who you side with. You'll see, just wait until later this month (hopefully)! ;)
  2. Guess who gets to see the first screenshot of Alton with LOD? You do! Enjoy!
  3. I'm very interested in how you managed to get LOD generation to work, it's a major roadblock right now for anyone wanting to create new exterior worldspaces of any appreciable size. No doubt about that. Alton is 439 terrain chunks (wasteland is 1500ish if I remember right), with an explorable area twice the size of Point Lookout, so it's definitely benefiting from LOD.
  4. Alright, some great news- I've gotten LOD generation to work in Alton. I'll write a tutorial on how to do it when this is said and done, since the GECK is notorious for not wanting to generate for large worlds. For those of you that don't know the meaning of LOD, think of it like this- it's the difference between seeing a few cells in front of you or seeing a vast, sweeping landscape that goes on for miles. ;)
  5. Are you from the area? If so, awesome! And unfortunately, no, no Piasa Bird. But you'll definitely recognize some locations, namely the Clark Bridge, River Road, the Subway/Imo's/Schnuck's/Walgreens area (i.e. State Street), etc. ;) Also, everyone, expect a release... soon. I'm wrapping up the scripting on the main quest as we speak (actually just finished another quest a few minutes before typing this), and after that it's just a couple of simple side quests. GET READY!
  6. Just got your lines, and they are unbelievable. Thanks so much!
  7. Part two of the city reveal is here, with four new images of New Godfrey up on my blog! This is part of a week-long reveal of the three major cities of Alton. The blog will also have one image that you won't find on the Nexus Imageshare, so stay glued to my blog for more updates and information. Also, any old links to my blog may not work. The blog was moved to a new host, and the blog is now simply at ElijahHouck.com/blog, instead of ElijahHouck/emh/blog.
  8. PM'ed who? Me? I haven't received any. No, JoVirr/DarkSpace. :P
  9. My goal is before Skyrim. I finished the landscape up last month, and what I'm focusing on now is finishing the quests up. I've been working on it since April of 2009, so I think sometime before November 11th is a realistic goal.
  10. I have indeed... and it's been a pretty great journey! I have really been considering a job in the game industry as of late- I mean, to get money to do something that I already love would be pretty great. :)

  12. The + button by 'kudos', under the avatar. ;)
  13. So yesterday, I received three 23" monitors in the mail that I had ordered from Newegg, and I've found the ultimate GECK setup. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7481262/Desktop%2002.PNG Unfortunately, I can only use two of them until I get my graphics card, but having two is still awesome, especially having a near full screen Render Window. Anyway, progress on Alton is good- in the picture is a metro station in South Godfrey that you'll be able to visit. It's part of a side quest involving finding a lost loved one, which involves going through a flooded section of the tunnel to get to him.
  14. Thanks, that'd be a dream come true. I really appreciate the support!
  15. Glad to hear it! I may or may not release a public beta too for an early sneak peak, but I haven't decided on that yet. I may wait and see how close I am to done later in July. ;)
  16. Nope! Started way back in eighth grade with a "wouldn't that be cool" turned into "huh, this could actually work." So I've been chugging along for the past couple of years (think I started April of 2009), and I'm still going strong. Glad to see you're excited!
  17. I would hope August. Don't hold me to that, but I'd like to finish around then so I can be done before I start school. I've already gone through part of eighth grade, freshman year, and sophmore year of high school working on Alton, and would hate to still be working on it in an already busy Junior year. ;)
  18. Hehe, thanks! I definitely can't wait to release it, that's for sure. ;)
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RwWGEZanaI&hd=1 Trailer 4 for Alton, IL is complete. Shows off quite a bit of the variety in the landscape and interior spaces, enjoy! :) Thanks for Justin Hardin (otherwise known as J-Dawg or Jhardingame) for writing the music, as well as Leon for voicing Stephen Clark, the leader of the Plague.
  20. Hey, everyone, as the topic says, I'm 'hiring' for LOD terrain mesh generation. For the past couple of years I've been world building for my mod, Alton, IL, a huge mod for Fallout 3. The explorable part of the worldspace is something like twice the size of Point Lookout, to give you a size estimate. The worldspace, AltonDowntownWorld (name is misleading, it's not only downtown), is 439 terrain chunks. Basically, I (nor J-Dawg) haven't been able to successfully generate terrain meshes for AltonDowntownWorld, and it definitely needs it. Playing through it without it would be disappointing, as you wouldn't be able to see in front of yourself more then 2 or 3 cells. The problem is that I HAVE been able to generate LOD before, but for a smaller worldspace, AltonPlaneDiscovery. This worldspace is only 65 chunks, but still. At one point, it worked. So anyway, I'd be willing to pay anybody that could successfully generate terrain mesh LOD for me. I could pay you via Paypal, build you a small mod once I'm done with Alton, or whatever. You'd also earn a spot in the credits video that will roll at the end of Alton's main quest, obviously. Keep in mind that LOD generation, especially on such a large worldspace, takes time. We're talking about probably around a week of non-stop generation. So make sure you're willing to keep your computer on and running, and a well-spec'd computer would be preferable (as it would have the highest chance of doing so successfully). So thanks, post below or PM me if you'd be willing to at least give it a try. :)
  21. http://www.elijahhouck.com/emh/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/landscapecomplete.jpg After two long, but fun, years, landscaping has finally been completed! In other words, the Alton wasteland, a world twice the size of Point Lookout and hopefully of Bethesda-like quality, is finally finished. Thanks for the support, everybody. This is one step closer to release.
  22. Stop et! Stop et nao!
  23. Two new screenshots up on my website! Enjoy!
