Possible New PC - Any suggestions?
urbex replied to Rockdude3's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Integrated graphics you'll never use on an i7 over overclocking ability? Ram cooling? "Brand name" ram? "now at 1600mhz"? Are you sure you understand what you're talking about? -

I guess this is why the nexus is so strict on criticizing hysterical mod authors. -

Virtual machines, 3DS max, etc. benefir from lots of RAM. Photoshop and games won't need more than 4GB. You're still going to be overpaying if you're not building it yourself. Just order the parts of newegg. -
Looks good, add some artic silver for the heatsink and you're set.

8GB is unnecessary unless you plan on using professional programs. mhz means even less. You really shouldn't buy this prebuilt. -
It's not really a medium considering the other two setups are more powerful.

Where are you buying this from? -
Here you go... http://i.imgur.com/NntHZ.png Your case is fine. Western Digital is a lot more reliable than segate for your HDD. Monitor should be fine. MSI's twin frozr cooler is way better than that reference card, you won't have to invalidate your warranty and buy more thermal paste with an aftermarket heatsink. That drive is IDE, you want sata. You probably won't even need an optical drive though. Seasonic's PSUs are more reliable, and this one is modular. (only plug in necessary cables into PSU) That RAM is triple channel, your motherboard is dual channel. Go with 8GB or 4GB. Motherboard is wrong socket type. i7 is nice, but bulldozers will be out by the end of July. And I added a small SSD for windows, programs and a few games.

With reference design cards, the only thing brands matter for is their warranties. MSI's twin frozr and Gigabyte's windforce are great aftermarket coolers, though.
-
Yeah, I completely get your point, you just sounded like you really enjoyed building computers.
-
3000/4 years = $750 on a new computer each year. Is your previous build really as powerful as a 560ti/i5 2500k would be now? But yeah, just a tip, the PC buying guide is constantly updated and pretty flawless as far as build recommendations go.
-
Don't buy a prebuilt.
-
If you're going to spend that much on a keyboard it should at least be mechanical.
-
was referencing fx bulldozers.
-
It definitely doesn't require technological expertise, you're just plugging stuff in. a ten minute youtube video will teach you everything you need to know. I strongly recommend you don't buy a prebuilt, it will cost more and won't be upgradeable.

i7 2600k a week before the new processor generation 16GB of ram. 1TB RAID 0 over a SSD. 2GB 560ti. optical drives. sound card network card. and last but not least, a prebuilt? really. You're also paying about $2000 too much. Just go with a 570 and i5/AMD FX. It's better to buy a $1000 system yearly than to try to spend $4000 for two.

http://i1002.photobucket.com/albums/af150/The_FalconO6/CurrentLogicalPCBuyingGuide/Guide.png And if you knocked off the sound card and windows that would have only been about $600, giving you room for a non combustible PSU.
-
Adding RAM on top of 4GB is pretty low priority. 2.4 first gen quad? What CPU is that? It will probably bottleneck a 560ti/570. You should look into a new bulldozer or i5k.
-
No it wasn't. It took months before it was officially cracked. Skidrow just used the files from the hackers that made the offline server. The offline server was rather poorly made anyways. Yep, and HAWX 2 is still uncracked afaik. That might just be because nobody cares about it, though.
-
SLI another 470 instead of replacing it, your room might get a little hot though.
-
A hyper 212+ provides great cooling performance and is only about thirty bucks. Even if you aren't overclocking it will increase the lifespan of your CPU. As long as you have a quality PSU it's wattage won't be an issue. That's pretty much completely incorrect. Most overclockable CPUs endorse doing so and even if it did violate your warranty you'd have no trouble RMAing it. Also, if a CPU were to fry it could kill the motherboard, that's about it unless it caught fire.

I rest my case. -
Oh look, another piracy thread. I know it's about prosecution, not piracy in general, but it's already swayed off topic so here we go. Piracy as a whole will never die. The scene will always be releasing cracks and there will always be idiots on the TPB downloading games and hurting developers. You can justify it however you like. Too expensive/Intrusive DRM/No available demo/I wasn't going to buy it so it's not a lost sale/ etc. At the end of the day pirates gonna pirate. The only argument that holds much water is feasibility. On a private site like WhatCD you can download from a selection of music larger than itunes, with maxed out speeds in any format imaginable with that good feeling in your heart that you're hurting the RIAA and record labels.

Yeah, load orders are based on the time metatags.
