  1. Just o make myself clear, I am not trying to be a "Lore Ogre" here. I happen to like the green look as well, and use it in my game. I've been trying to figure out a script to allow more green to spread after the Oasis quest, but it's a long slog.
  2. RH_Ironsights is a tricky mod to install properly make sure you are following the instructions in the readme exactly. Secondly, Do you have Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) installed? If not, you need to get it and install it. (Make sure to read the instructions on that carefully as well, it does not install like a typical mod.) Finally, and I only ask this for the sake of completeness.) Did you toggle Archive Invalidation off and then on again from the main FOMM panel? In addition to mesh and texture issues, it has been known to cause gameplay issues with some of the more complicated mods.
  3. That's one heavily patched game! I'm not sure how to handle this with a bashed patch, but in FO3Edit, if you open the program and work up from the bottom of the mod list selecting "Sort Masters" for each file, you may be able to find your problem child. (Make a new merged patch after doing this.) Failing that, you're left with the old standby of deactivating everything and reactivating them individually. The good news is that you're at a clearly defined crash point, so none of this playing the game for a while waiting for a fix. The bad news is it's still a time intensive procedure. Possible choke points I've spotted in your load order based on my experience: 1). You have MMM deactivated, but the DLC add-ons still in your game. 2). You have both enhanced weather and Xepha's Dynamic weather enabled. I'm not sure how well those two play together. 2). Mods that I've tried but had problems with: Arefue Expanded, Amy Wong, Nightmare Realm, CubeExperimental, Radioactive Rain and Snow Pluggin, and any of the Moose mod add-on files. (I'm not saying that any of them is to blame, just that I've had issues in the past with them. Particularly in conjunction with FOOK, (Which has a reputation for not playing well with others) I'd keep an eye on them.
  4. Bad news, sounds like you're working off a corrupted save. You'll have to go back and find a save before the corruption occurred and start again from there. To help avoid this in the future, turn off all autosaving in the game and install something like CASM: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/3729/?. It doesn't eliminated the problem, but it makes it much more manageable. Secondly, FOSE was probably not what was responsible for your original issue. Instead, one of the mods that uses FOSE was, and by deleting it, you, in effect, deactivated the mod. I don't recognize most of the mods you're running, but I'm guessing that at least one of them probably requires FOSE, and that's you're culprit. Finally, the advice about killing yourself on starting up can be duplicated by executing the console command: PCB. Just be careful using this when indoors, as that can cause issues all its own.
  5. FWE is definitely a new experience. At times it seems almost nightmarish, with you enemies sending a world of hurt your way while your weapons barely make a scratch. M48A5 had a good suggestion about adjusting the difficulty level, but I would offer some other advice. I assume by "First Quest" You're referring to "Following in his Footsteps," and not one of the side quests like "Big Trouble in Big Town." Two bits of advice here. First, take some time to explore and run some of the side quests before you go running off into the DC ruins. FWE makes them as dangerous as the multiple warnings you're going to receive about them, and you need some experience behind you before they're really a valid option. Secondly, if you expect to rush a group of enemies, guns blazing, and come out on top, FWE will put a world of hurt on you. Failing that, explore the settings in the FWE setup menu (accessed through your Pip Boytm .) In particular, the global damage setting can be a real killer, but there are many settings in there that can have unexpected, and unpleasant, surprises attached to them. Good Luck!
  6. There's a more insidious danger in all of this, it's part of what Orwell was warning about in 1984. Control speech, and you control thought. Control thought and you control the person. I think we can all agree that would be a bad thing, or should I say "double plus ungood?"
  7. All this talk of "The Laws of Physics," brings to mind the question, "Which set of Laws?" Aristotle's Laws? The Newtonian Laws? The Einsteinian Laws? Quantum Mechanics? Too often in history, when we think we've got the Universe figured out, some smart cookie comes along and says "Yeah, but..." The only way this can come about is when someone has the imagination to question "What the best minds know to be true." Take a look at H.G. Wells, some of his writings were based on ideas that have been shown to be false, but many of his works proved to be remarkably prescient.

    Syria

Traditionally, (at least up until the latter part of the 20th Century,) Congressional approval was required to deploy the Army, but the Navy and the Marines belonged to the President. The War Powers Act of 1973 changed the equation, but even that gives the President a lot of wiggle room. What troubles me about all of the war talk coming out Washington is what I haven't heard. I've heard talk of striking Syrian Air Force units and Airports, but nothing of taking out the Chemical weapons dumps and factories. True, these potential targets carry a fairly high risk of collateral damage, but use of thermal or incendiary weapons can go a long way towards mitigating that danger. When I was in the Marines, my specialty was NBC Defense (What we call WMDs today,) and that was the SOP for destroying (then Soviet) chemical weapons facilities. The main problem with chemical weapons is that they do a poor job of disabling or destroying military units, but they do a great job at taking out civilian populations. (Hence their outlawing in 1935.) I sympathize with Lisnpuppy’s sentiment that we should just let them stew in their own juice. History, however, shows how short sighted that attitude really is. As part of a mod I’m trying to put together, I’ve been digging through The Internet Archive (www.Archive.org . It’s a great site, well worth checking out.) One of my finds was a collection of radio news report from WWII. As part of a news broadcast from March of 1938 discussing the Nazi’s seizure of Austria, there was an interview with Senator Lewis B. Schwellenbach, then the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee. In that interview he made a statement to the effect that those events were happening half a world away, and despite the fact that international law and treaties had been violated, this was not our concern. He stated that the US had bleed for Europe twenty years before and we needed to stay out of the coming war, because it didn’t make a difference and we needed to “care for our own.”Less than four years later, axis bombs were falling on US territory. Teddy Roosevelt, “Don’t hit at all if you don’t have to, but if you have to hit, never hit softly”, summed up the danger in a situation like this. A token strike on a Syrian target not directly linked to the attack would be worse than useless.
  9. This sounds a lot like an out of date Master. Check the mod descriptions of the mods you're using and make sure you're using the correct version of the masters needed.
  10. Try this site: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html.
  11. How often are we talking about with the crashes? If you're getting several hours of gameplay and the crash doesn't seem to be related to a particular area, you are probably dealing with generic Gamebro engine behavior.
  12. Several itterations of #2 also exist. I'm using a combitation of "Followers Relax" and "No's RR Companions" that allows me to set up a team whenever I want. More that 3 active followers at a time tends to cause Game Engine glitches though.
  13. What's being ignored in the discussion is the actual origin of the Fallout universe. In particular, pay attention to Science Fiction movies (focusing particularly on the 90's and earlier.) The look of the Capitol Wasteland (along with Radscorpions and Radroaches) seems to come from the 1977 film "Damnation Alley." (A tough film to track down, it never seems to have made the jump to DVD.) The entire Sink in FNV seems to owe a lot to the 1995 film "Twelve Monkeys" and I could go on and on. I have a little advantage here, I'm approximately the same age as Sawyer and Avellone, so these are the Sci-Fi movies I grew up with or experienced as a young man. There's an old saying about Star Trek that the ships travel at the speed of plot. The designers inserted things that they new and loved into the game. (Just check out the cultural references section in the Fallout Wiki: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_cultural_references for a larger, although no means exhaustive list. All that being said, I love the wasteland as you've portrayed it. (The pristine car does seem to be a bit much, though.)
  14. Just as a question, have you uninstalled any mods? I've seen a glitch where a mod that was removed caused issues later on in the game, particularly if something from that mod was set to be loaded into a cell.
  15. In your default documents folder (usually, "My Documents",) you should see a folder labeled "My Games". In this folder is another folder labeled "Fallout 3" that contains your INI files and the saves folder. If you are having trouble finding that folder, do a search for files with the extension .fos. These are Fallout saves.
  16. You'll need BOSS as well. http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10193/? FOMM only puts a load order in based on date tags on the mods. BOSS will actually set the tags to get a consistent load order.
  17. One other note. FOMM has an issue when running inside the "Program Files" section on newer machines. If you haven't already, try installing it in a root directory.
  18. Another thing to check in the Fallout.ini file. In the [Archive] section, make sure that bInvalidateOlderFiles=1. This is the setting that archive invalidation is supposed to change.
  19. You might consider running BOSS http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/10193/? to sort your load order and FO3Edit to make a merged patch http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/637/?.
  20. Something to take into consideration. If you are just installing the body mods, they will only alter the mesh on Nude actors. To change how the women look clothed, you'll need to find mods that alter the mesh of the clothing. There used to be a modder who posted under the handle Exnem, who had a decent large breast replacer, but he has since left the modding community, and only pitiful remnants of his work remain.
  21. There's also a trick to try from the Tweak Guides: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html. Look at Page 10 under the section Audio.
  22. A load order would be helpful. It's my suspicion that one of your later mods is overriding the dialogue settings that the language mod is adding. Have you tried putting them at the end of your load order? BTW, you don't need a separate mod to remove gore from the game, you can do it by changing a setting in the .ini file. Here's a great site about tweaking Fallout: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html. Instructions for removing gore are contained on Page 8.
  23. That's usually my default when things get FUBAR. Pull all mods and try a clean install. BOSS, Edit, and then try again. Also check out this site and try what he suggests: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html. edit: Never tried Ironsights myself, but are you using these? :http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/17757/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D17757%26preview%3D&pUp=1
  24. On my experience, Crash on launch is usually the result of missing master files. Could you post your load order?
