  1. to be honest...no. not enough video ram to run mods. It might just run vanilla oblivion but it may not even start the game once it gets past the intro video. I used to run a sony vaio with 512 ram and it would run about 100 mods but only on mid resolution and with a lot of care about clean edits and load order. If you want to start changing up for some decent eye candy textures then I reckon 1 gb of ram minimum. coincidently I had a sattelite pro with your specs and morrowind (unmodded) was no problem but oblivion in any form just spat out black screens.
  2. This can happen if you are already using the latest patched game ie, Game of the year version with knights and shivering isles on it. if you try to update the already patched game you will get that error. check your version if its is 1.2.0416 then you do not need to further patch it ony the unnoficial patches. The version number should appear in the bottom left corner when you boot the game up.
  3. I dont see the oblivion esm in your load order....it must be there or your game wont even start! with that amount of mods you simply must use wrye bash and place the bashed patch at the end of your load order. There are lots of guides to using it and you can download it from the nexus. I use version 295 which IMO works the best, although the latest is ok. first and foremost, download BOSS from the nexus, which will sort your load order to the most optimum. download OBMM or NMM, I prefer OBMM myself. after you have BOSSED your load order, open OBMM and look at archive invalidation, it is under the utilities tab, I use archive alteration which allows me to use the latest inserted textures, sounds and meshes and prevents the game from loading the vanilla ones by alterating the time stamp of each mod. lastly run wrye bash...get used to using it before attempting to install with mods with it or adding bash tags...that can come later when you feel comfortable. I am of the opinion that it is better to start off with beautification mods ie unique landscapes, and texture mods before adding large mods with special scripts and only then adding one at a time, it helps to find which mod breaks your game easier...the problem with oblivion is that the more mods you use then the more problems you get with issues like video ram burst, where you go through an interior door to the outside and the pc suddenly gets its graphic buffers stuffed full and the game either freezes or ctds. This can be overcome if you have a decent system but I wont go there at the moment. Hickory is probabaly the best guy to talk to regarding using wrye bash.
  4. You need to give some idea as to what mods you are using and whether you use wrye bash, boss and a load order sorter. However I experienced a similar problem due to archive invalidation problems. Once I had sorted that out with OBMM it was fine. It sounds like the game is trying to load a mod but cant find the paths to the textures etc. and is stalling. Very common with badly installed mods.
  5. We had a familly do at a pub last night, i am now the patriarch, i felt like don corleone at the wedding....anyone have a stone in their shoe?
  6. Better cities skingrad is superb, the only way i would improve it would to have a night mist in the streets. I love the unique architecture and the close proximity of the buildings and the way that the counts castle dominates the vista. The player owned house is the best in the game, especially with the eyja mod
  7. I would imagine that it is beautiful people clashing with another race mod, exact same thing happened to me, removed it and bingo, ok. The googly eyes are caused by the meshes wrongly pointing to the wrong textures. You dont need all those storm and sound esps, only obse version. Also i believe you only need one assasins creed esps, you are doubling up there as well. Good luck
  8. I dont think you need UOP additional changes if you install the latest UOP. I assume you clean your mods with tes4edit and use wrye bash and boss. You have a lot of mods that I have never seen so cant really comment on those, however--- I noticed that despite cleaning and taking every precaution as regards load order, archive invalidation etc, correctly managed bash patch, that over the course of the last year m game became gradually more buggy as I installed more mods to the point that I gave up. However patching the exe file to 4gb helped a little, but the big break through for me was Oblivion stutter remover v.4. although I had this installed for a while, it was not until I enabled heap management and set the heap allocation to a 1000 that I noticed my game was no longer crashing. Even the inside cell transition to outside cell no longer ctd the game. It runs virtually crash free to the point that I ran oblivion for four hours until I got an out of memory error. never happened bfore. while I realise that everyones game has different variables and this fix is not guaranteed I tried this on my friends computer, he runs oblivion with absolutely no idea about load order and and his game was extremely buggy, it helped... not so many crashes and when I showed him how to use boss and wrye bash , his game is now crash free. He uses mostly mods of the adult type and nearly all of them are different to my setup. but it worked and is well worth trying. dont try and use high heap settings without patching your exe. file though it just wont work. the patch is available here http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php this is for 64 bit versions of windows only. good luck
  9. you can only activate the bashed patch in wrye bash not mod manager. the patch should be last in the load order apart from specialised game map mods such as tamriel ingame map (onras twmp mods) wrye bas will tell you which mods can be merged.
  10. dont forget archive invalidation (obmm or wrye bash) quite often if you remove a mod and the game engine is searching for its textures or meshes at start up it will inevitably crash.
  11. same here, it is a site issue - chrome, safari and explorer all have the same problem.
  12. when the guard says whats that prisoner doing here" and up against the window" I just cant help but wipe the sneer of her face by blowing her away with a jedi force push. She flies around the cell bouncing off the walls and you cant even get arrested for it lol!

      Strange dreams indicate strange thoughts.

Strange thoughts => new actions => new (and probably exciting) events!

I had a dream this morning which happened after another dream I had before it. Both seemed strange because neither of them depicted anything from my adventures as a youth, middle age, or adult. I thought our life was supported by the past reviews adding a new link to what we knew. I recall some tracks I followed in the dream sleep views that seemed to be like those at one of those Expo's I visited as a child. I will have to wait to see if the dreams have any truth that will solidify t...

Was it about all the new stuff at a Computer Electronics Show in Las Vegas?
  15. oblivion esm is at the top of the load order right? I sometimes get a red esm indicator if the load order is set wrong. I have spent so much time cleaning mods and resetting load orders, removing mods, only to recently find that oblivion heap management is just pants. OSR heap settings make an incredible difference to my game. I have no trouble running wac alongside mmm mainly thanks to wrye bash and now OSR. It has changed my way of thinking about crashes and freezes. It appears that what I thought was a corrupt spawn issue is actually oblivions game engine struggling to initialise various scripts at the same time. Heap management appears to resolve this to a great extent. I would be very interested to hear other posters comments on this. My game runs so well now I dont spend most of the time trying various fixes and actually have a very heavy modded and graphical intense setup that I can enjoy, and believe it or not after trying to solve the door ctd problem, I dont get ANY crashes now either entering or leaving cells. Eureka!
  16. oblivion stutter remover, works very well if it is set up right..... http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23208 the set up needs experimentation as regards your own rig I believe.
  17. I have had random crashes for a while, especially going through doors....however, just installed obse 0021 and changed heap setting in OSR to 900 and now the game runs like hussain bolt with no crashes. I walked from topal bay through all the imperial city district gates and down to anvil via skingrad. normally I would get crashes outside skingrad and definitely not able to enter anvil harbour area (better cities loaded) but no crashes, a eureka moment for me! also the ctd at the waterfront (quite common with better cities loaded) has dissapeared as well. This may be just applicable to my rig setup but I would be interested if any one else has had a look at heap settings.
  18. it was the german mod "euber ballone" a real shame such a well thought mod thanks for bothering to reply hickory
  19. Well that goes for animals as well, they will only attack inside their spawning cell. Its weird walking down the road and seeing a couple of hostiles jumping up and down in anger but not moving towards me. I assume this is a mod issue, i wont bore you with my mod list. Just wondered if any of you guys had encountered this before. Thank you in anticipation of any answers.
  20. I use bsa alteration for textures, meshes. another reason for saves not loading is stuck animations. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/5127 this has helped although as you say the save may be corrupted. Go back 5 saves at a time untilo you can load one, then narrow it down. oblivion is a real pain sometimes........
  21. this has happened to me and the workaround was to use obmm to invalidate my textures/meshes etc once again. I dont know if this is the same problem....good luck.
