  1. I think you misunderstood my post, I should have quoted the post above me but I meant as opposed to forcing the GECK to crash in some form. Obviously waiting for the program to close as intended is the best way. Sorry for not being more clear.
  2. You are quite right. Point taken. Good, I didn't want to sound like a %&$! or anything, just giving you my take if it were me, but I see where you are coming from a little better now I think. If the mission was to bring down the US Gov. as you say the Enclave is a given for the simple fact that they claim to be so. The Brotherhood does not function as a government and doesn't attempt to control the populace I would think they would not be a target. The Republic of Dave would be though I think and possibly the Commonwealth.
  3. Not a big deal but I keep noticing odd anomalies in the view count on threads, I see things like: * 1 Replies * 0 Views quite a bit. Thanks again for the site and all the hard work you have been putting in.
  4. The more I think about the factions in FO3 the BoS and Enclave and for that matter the raiders make no sense. Power is always based on land, resources and control of the population. Realistically these factions should be fighting for control of habitable land and control of settlements. You can almost imagine an Afghanistan or Somalia type situation going on. Warlords would be vying for influence and power, not just sitting in compounds collecting stuff. I mean how does either group feed itself and resupply itself? They control no population, levy no taxes, all they seem to due is expend resources without ever producing them. I would love to see a Fallout world with divided territories controlled by rival factions. You could have 5, 10 even 20 little (and big) warlords that each control a plot of land of varying size and influence. Some might be allies, others bitter rivals. Quest options would be monstrous as you choose sides (or don't).
  5. ...or just use the task manager, killing the process is the cleanest way.
  6. I hate to rain on your parade but I just think being a political operative for a dead country against a dead country is a bit pointless. If I actually was the character in question I would try to go back to China and see if a government exists and if so if they want me to go back to America a kill random people because the country that it was 200 years ago was bad. If they did I would seriously question my loyalties.
  7. I'd try FWE, if you do find it is too hard just nudge the global damage closer to vanilla. One of the reasons FWE is so great is that almost everything is configurable.
  8. Sounds like you need to make your own game, no one is going to make a game just for you which is what you appear to want. For one thing you really ought to look into the game engine they using and what limitations that brings, it eliminates a bit of your list right of the top.
  9. Playing FWE I use: 1. Hunting Rifle upgraded to Backwater Rifle eventually - good for all around wandering and general use, a good head shot takes care of most problems and both use common ammo. 2. Some kind of assault rifle, the Xuanlong Assault Rifle is my favorite in FWE - For when things get intense 3. Sniper Rifle upgraded to Gauss or one of the other uniques - Even the odds before they see you. Of course these weapons vary based on ammo stocks. The Blackhawk is another that is usually in my inventory. EDIT: I forgot to mention the dart gun, with a good sneak skill this weapon can create a ton of fun.
  10. There is no such patch for FWE 5 and Fook2 I recommend using just one of the 2 for starters.
  11. Since this post was essentially about the best single shot rifle in FO3 I would in fact go and get the Backwater Rifle, my fav by far. Uses 10mm ammo to great effect.
  12. Definitely use FOMM to install your mods, make sure you Toggle the invalidation in FOMM as well, that is most likely why you are getting the red and white graphics. If you have toggled the invalidation then the textures or meshes are missing for 1 or more mod. You can try to re-activate them with FOMM or copy the files manually.
  13. Sorry I didn't post a link in my reply on your other post but I meant try here: http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=94274&st=2850
  14. Yes it is if you have the newest version my bet is you are running v 4, I also recommend posting this on the official comments for that mod. They are very good at helping people out. It should be at the top of apparel.
  15. Agreed, nothing like going down to the mall for some fun with super mutants while tripping on heroin.
  16. Wow, that's embarrassing, all I saw was the mouse controls. Looked at least 3 times. Getting old I guess. Thanks.
  17. Thanks Sealwarrior, I'll check it out. Anyone on the key binding? The E for select and space for jump just seem more natural to me, no mods to change the controls?
  18. Is there a mod that will allow me to swap the 'E' and 'spacebar' to match Fallout 3? Can it be done without a mod? I keep jumping in front of containers and doors! I have searched but can't seem to find one. EDIT: I guess I may as well ask while I am here...is there anything like Better Living Through Chems for Oblivion? You know, drugs w/visuals and effects?
  19. If it is a codec problem then I would download k-lite. This works in FO3 but I am not sure about Oblivion.
  20. I seem to remember this happening to me at least once. At the time I didn't realize it was a bug and I went back into the memorial. When I went back into the purifier room everything worked. You could try that if you haven't already. (watch out for enclave though).
  21. If you are using a custom race you might want to try this patch:: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6240
  22. I like to stock up for retirement, I never eat pre-war food or drink booze, that's all for when I retire.
  23. Better dead than bad skin i guess?
  24. I've been getting the itch to install Oblivion again, been playing FO3 for a few months now and it's been more than a year since cranking up Oblivion. When I last played I didn't know much about mods etc. Didn't really realize what was out there until I found the Nexus for FO3. So what mods do I HAVE to have for Oblivion. I think Operation Optimization was the only mod I used last time. I was also wondering if I am going to have any problems with the Direct-2-Drive version I have, I seem to remember seeing some mods for FO3 that wouldn't work with that version, is this a problem with Oblivion as well? Thanks for any suggestions.
