  1. This looks good . I hope it includes making diseases mean something, diseases should only be able to be cured by one shrine or one healer, That combined with no fast travel means getting a disease forces you to travel far away to the one place that can cure that disease. The disease would stay with you longer, curing it would be a big deal. and also keen on it to radically reduce the amount of junk you can carry, thus limiting loot/smith/enchant/sell cycles. money must mean something and be hard to come by.
  2. I love eating , sleeping and strictly no fast traveling in this game, but i cant help wish for a mod to control me in my moments of weakness and Skyrim to be a harsher world for me to climb up in. . What do you think belongs in such a mod? For me the concept of "hard core" is not directly about making combat and the game more difficult as such but about changing many other things that would lead into combat and the game being more difficult. for example DISEASES - should mean something, diseases should only be able to be cured by one shrine, That combined with no fast travel means getting a disease forces you to travel far away to the one place that can cure that disease. The disease would stay with you longer, curing it would be a big deal. WEIGHT - should mean more, I shouldn't be able to lug around 5 chestplates of steel, 50 potions and 10 bear pelts etc . This would have 3 beneficial effects 1- you would put more thought into the gear you own (rather than walk around with a backup set with all anti cold/shock/fire/smithing enchantments etc ) 2- with less choice to swap around with combat would be a bit harder and most importantly 3- money would be harder to get, one loots gems and gold not helmets and cheastplates. ( maybe having a horse could dramatically increase your weight allowance for hoarders) this leads into MONEY- should be harder to accumulate- This would have several good effects, extending the interest in a character (right now i usually get rich, overpowered and thus bored around level 35) make combat more difficult (wouldn't have all the best gear enchanted with grand souls etc), slow down enchantment- breaking something to learn the enchantment should be a real sacrifice, and finding treasure would mean a lot more. this would also make playing an imperial a decent choice. Of course Hard Core should also factor in SLEEP- reduced stamina/magika? if you go on for longer than ....16 hours? without sleep FOOD and DRINK- same as above? NO FAST Traveling - goes without saying i guess, I would personally keep the carriages for (known) city to city travel but they need to be much more expensive. What else do you think belongs in such a mod?
  3. can you untick (or delete?) the data HD pack 1 and 2 esp in the data files in the skyrim load up screen? im not sure but unticking would mean they dont load up (which i was i did as better females mod doesnt work with the HD right now) while delete button i assume removes them altogether from your pc.
  4. Bethesda just ranks the whole companion system well bellow world building and everything else they do well. Personally i would take a 90% cut in the number of possible companions if it gave us a Bioware level companion system - that's something they know very well and excel at (environments...not so much)
  5. Dilir , i agree the 560ti is a great and affordable card (but double the price of the card you wanted Invisible man) . you can get a good factory OC version if you want to avoid Oc-ing it yourself - almost an equal to a 570 but much cheaper. But that said I really think the whole ATI /Nvidia choice is down to what you are used too, I know lots of people who have had trouble with nvidia and an equal number who have had the same with ati. I've had both over the years and i would say driver updates are more common and easier to update with Nvidia. ive got the MSiI version of the 560ti, frozr something - runs really really cool, let me check...right now *no games running but my pc has no fancy cooling stuff and its is at 29c. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565 if thats too expensive how about the 550ti ?
  6. I have to agree with a lot of these posts - dont really care about a location as such, But more intricate deep plots coupled with more magic variety/enchanting variety/ improved econmy balancing and my personel wish - character and story arcs for your companion. But they cant promote a DLC that just improves on the vanilla game so I guess..somehwere with no mountains;) I like jungles myself.
  7. Id like to see Bethesda radically alter and upgrade their companion system, I also think they should ditch the main campaign story, just go ahead , create a huge world, make intricate (and mutually exclusive) guild campaigns, content galore aka skyrim and better deeper character story arcs for possible companions. Dont really care where its set, somehwere with a variety of landscapes i guess.
  8. I havent gotten the jan 31st beta drivers yet but with a 2500k/560ti I found the nvidia AO too much of a fps hit, went from 55-60fps to 45-50fps. Views did look really moody and beautiful but i found the grass around me to be weird looking- kinda fuzzy, its difficult to describe. I will try it again tonight with these new drivers. anisotropic- Nvidia control panel is much better than inside the game?
  9. I never quite understood why people upload their saved game characters on nexus actually. and who actually downloads them??
  10. I agree, but having never played Morrowind I cant say about that particular inventory system. I did like the dragon age origins inventory system a lot. I like a body map and a drop and drag item placement and hovering over items in the inventory gives you a this vs what you are currently wearing overlay. In skyrim I have giving items to companions and never really knowing if they have them on (unless its obvious like a helmet etc)
  11. Difficult to come up with all the variations, forgive me if i missed one. Yes, so im interested in knowing how you spread your perk points? Its a difficult question because this poll cant show a dynamic changing situation. Really only good for people playing characters under 40ish I usually choose my primary combat tree and secondary tree then a few in others that grow to be more substantial as the game goes on.
  12. The Witcher 2 new engine also is also very forgiving on the lowest end for lower pc but on the higher end looks amazing. But I dont think its laziness that makes Bethesda stick with the same engine that ran Fallout3, its just a question of priorities, The reason they could put in 200 plus dungeons, gazillion quests and give people hundreds hours of game time in the game is that put that as a priority before making a new engine. personally I accept about a third cut in pure size if it meant better companion AIs with more fleshout stories, better UI and improvement on clipping issues.
  13. I'll join in hmmm -See a waterfall, check behind it, classic cave/chest location.
  14. I agree totally. It could be done with something as simple (?) as change to third person camera when showing finishing move mod. fighting in 3rd person is too difficult sadly.
  15. To make companions playable, able to equip them easily, give orders, dictate actions etc. ie like DAO
  16. Is there any possiblity to improve the 3rd person camera? Coming from a Witcher/DAO background I find the Skyrim 1st person mode a bit disorientating at times but the 3rd person imprecise for combat (but good for exploring). I found the 3rd person camera in Dragon age and the witcher to really good (although with DAO you didnt need the camera to be too precise with auto attack and pausing to aim spells) But the Skyrim 3rd person camera, while an improvement over fallout3 and new vegas is still the unwanted stepchild compared to the favoured son 1st person camera. have to wait for the CK? or is it about as good as it gets besides playing with the angle of the zoom in/out?
  17. Are they? Lockpicks availability is pretty widespread and even on lower levels I can unlock anything i come across if i have a healthy supply of lockpicks. Sure a master lock might take 5-10 lockpicks when im only in the 20-30 lockpicking range but so be it, no worries. Only Treasure Hunter and Golden Touch are really worth it but you have to waste 3 perks just to get there. worth it?
  18. Thanks Guys for the good advice. I think i was in that trough, around level 10-16, 25 point spells are becoming weak relative to the level of opponents and the kind of places one goes to around then but not able to cast 50 point adept spells yet. But smarter use of the illusion apprentice spells, more dual casting (thanks Teklanika) and I seem to be going ok.
  19. Was wondering if someone can give me some pointers to help me out. Before xmas I played a sneaky archer, avoided magic all together, perks nearly all in archery, sneak and light armor, at adept after level 12ish i felt strong. not a god by any means but someone to be reckoned with, after that bumped it to Expert. points in health60% stamina 40% Now im playing as an illusion, one handed (sword right now as i haven't come across a good dagger yet) light armor mage assassin and i feel WEAK. Perks in illusion, sneak, one handed, light armor. Usually a sword in one hand and the other for magic. points in magic and health 50/50 what am i messing up? Im not great at melee fighting/blocking but playing a second round I should be better any advice? thanks
  20. Its hard to cope with FENRIS playing the part of every legion soldier!
  21. Thanks for all the advice guys, yup i got it, i mean ...$6 for the deluxe with all the expansions...i'd be mad not too, that said i have no idea when im going to get the time, still knee deep in skyrim
  22. Hi, could someone give me some general advice on the whole TES modding scene. Im new to TES and skyrim. My only previous experience with modding is with Dragon age origins, In DAO you put all the mods not in the game folder but in the My Documents/..../override folder. Installing wont merge/replace any original game files. Uninstalling is as easy as deleting the folder, But with Skyrim it seems that you generally place the mods withing the data file in the main game file? If you are installing and replacing game files (and then deleting the new mod files when you want to uninstall that particular mod) how can you keep the game stable? thanks
  23. The price is immaterial really, what im more concerned with is finding the time to get into it and give it the time it needs to enjoy it. that and the fact i have difficult enjoying older games with poor (by today's standard) graphics, but it seems that mods bring the graphics up to near skyrim standards.
  24. Thanks for the advice guys, will do which one? Buy The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition includes Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions. this is$5 or Buy The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion® Game of the Year Edition Deluxe The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition Deluxe includes Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions plus Fighter's Stronghold Expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor and much more. This edition is playable only in English language. this is $6.24 are Fighter's Stronghold Expansion, Spell Tome Treasures, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor useless Fluff that i wont need ? true it only needs to marginally a tiny bit better than useless fluff to justify the $1.24 increase:)
  25. Steam have Oblivion deluxe(shivering isle, knights of the nine etc) for 6usd for the next 24hrs, bargain price..but... I came to rpgs lately (DAO was my 1s rpg, Skyrim is my first TES game) and while Im loving skyrim im wondering will i feel bethesda burnout? Is there really any need to go back to oblivion? Maybe i should just enjoy Skyrim an the mods that will come out over the next year. I do find it difficult to go back to inferior graphics in most game genres, and im not a university student with loads of free time on my hands. but jeez....$6!
