  1. *laughs* Which half of my name? Polite. Unless my door's been kicked in and I'm missing my silverware... Nope still there.
  2. Even when that mod is a patch that makes the game actually playable?
  3. Haven't called anyone a sellout. If you ditch the Nexus to lick the scraps from Bethesda's table then you would be though.
  4. I think that would be perfect. Console mods on beth.net and PC mods on the Nexus. Charge only for console mods if Bethesda want it that bad. Console owners are used to paying for skins and garbage anyway. The only issue is the beth.net thing being pushed onto PC too. Disabling achievements and having the 'mods' section on the main menu of their games... Not to mention the eventual mandatory beth.net sign ups I figure will come to pass. You already apparently need to sign up to get access to the CK in FO4 and to play MP in DOOM.
  5. Well, you're certainly free to express your opinion. Just don't be surprised when other people disagree or disapprove of how you choose to express it. Best of luck with your crusade. I should get back to actually doing some modding and get started on that whole fame and fortune thing. Thank you  You've been living up to your username, at least in part, in your posts.
  6. That isn't true. I am adding my influence. Nothing more. If, throughout history, no one ever stood up and opposed anything, we would be living in an even worse Hell than we currently do... This is not nearly on the same scale, or as melodramatic, but the same principle applies.
  7. You may wish to consider how the sentiments you express come across to the reader, if you're concerned about being misjudged. I understand, there's been some changes to a hobby you enjoy. Naturally you're concerned. However you have no right to decide that everything must stay exactly as it is simply because you're conservative and driven by your own self-interest. You're lecturing and berating the creators of mods, despite denying that you're taking them for granted. You're trying to decide yourself, unilaterally how the future of modding will proceed and structure it according to your whims. Your long-term involvement in the hobby and your financial contributions are laudable but they do not give you the right to decide the actions of others. Nor would I WANT to decide for others. But I will still stand for what I believe is right. The authors can and will do as they please. I just hope they have the hobby's best interests at heart instead of being willing to let it be damaged by Bethesda in order to seek potential fame and fortune.
  8. Damn, reading this makes me want to put all my mods on Bethesda's site. I can't stand that web-site, but I don't want to be part of this sort of elitist exclusionary clubhouse stuff. (Yeah, yeah, I know you're talking to the famous guys but whatever). There's nothing elitist about it. Read my previous posts. It's not about elitism. It's about being against Bethesda trying to fix (f***) something that isn't broken... Especially when we all know the reason behind it is to make a buck. I'm going to oppose it all the way. But if the mod authors do eventually bail from the Nexus to beth.net, I'll have to make a final decision then on what I will do. Join them just to keep enjoying what I love or spite myself for the principle and quit Bethesda games... Wont be an easy choice. What is easy is just going with it and not getting involved at all. I'd get no hate that way. But then there's no opposition for stupid, greedy ideas.
  9. You? You've published one, insignificant mod as far as I can see. I only refer to invaluable mod authors. Arthmoor, as much as he may dislike me right now, is invaluable to the Nexus community.
  10. I think you are just feeling envy because someone might make money and you are not getting a cut. Also you do not get to complain about insults, when you are making backhanded insults along with weaseling in every post. Envy? Absolutely not. My intentions are pure. My posts reflect my true feelings. Were I the creator of successful mods, they would be staying exclusive to the Nexus. Beth.net and console peasants be damned. You on the other hand are one of those users who waits in the wings for a chance to spring with a belittling post. Just because you have disagreed with me from the start and then got called out by others with your terrible use of terms. Then explain why you call people sell-outs? I haven't actually called anyone a sellout yet. But if the shoe eventually fits...

  12. No. Jackass cynical users who like to troll and cause trouble are doing that. I think you need to lay off the Jet or something. There's no need to resort to insults. You disagree with me, fine. But don't be that person. Being a potential sellout is bad enough.
  13. On GoG I could spend that $15 knowing that Bethesda, Obsidian, or Valve can't one day deny me the right to play it since it won't have DRM. I'd gladly drop the money on that even though I didn't like New Vegas very much. I feel strongly enough about DRM issues to vote on it with the only capital they respond to: CASH. I mean, you yourself seem to think that's all that motivates them, so you have to speak the language. Of course. I suggested GOG was better because of a lack of DRM but Ethreon said he preferred GOG for the cheaper deals. If it is about a dislike for DRM... Then why support Bethesda in their quest to introduce their own inevitable DRM platform? Of course that is another thing they want from beth.net. It's only a matter of time before joining bethesda.net becomes mandatory in order to play their games. They do only care about money. And mod authors are a way to earn even more money. Apparently they aren't speaking with any of you about their plan, they're just doing what they like. They refused or ignored Dark0ne when he reached out to help them make things better. You are being farmed... Each one of you is just a little Dollar sign. They don't care about our community. They don't care if it gets torn apart. They don't care about the Nexus. They're going to get even richer on your efforts and that is all that matters. You will fix their games for them and keep the money coming in while they just sit back and laugh! We KNOW that is what they want or they wouldn't have jumped right in with paid mods last time! And Arthmoor, when paid mods come back and regardless of the effort you have put in, do you truly agree that Bethesda should make money on bug-fixing patches? Namely, yours? Should they get paid for selling a PATCH? If you get paid for your unofficial patches, Bethesda takes the bigger cut and all for something they as the developers should have made sure was not required in the first place! Is it great that consoles have access to mods? Sure. Is it great that they are becoming the main focus, the majority of users, at least as far as this discussion and beth.net is showing? No. Their inferior tech will cause mod authors to dumb down their work so they can handle it! Do mod authors deserve to be paid for their effort? Yes! Should patch mods come with a price tag that Bethesda gets most of? NO! Is beth.net just causing issues in our community so far? YES! Mod authors are hiding their work for fear of theft and threatening to go beth.net exclusive, especially once paid mods come out. And what is Bethesda doing about it? NOTHING! All that matters to them is that people are using beth.net. The Nexus means NOTHING to them. It is just a place to pillage. Skyrim Special Edition exists solely to capitalize on the massive amount of mods already available for it. Our community has been fine for years! Then Bethesda comes along and claims rights... Interfering in something they don't know anything about. Causing problems where none need be if they just kept out like they used to. This is why I have an issue with bethesda.net and why you should too.
  14. Why? Because DRM sucks? Then why support beth.net? Another potential source of restriction. Because GoG has a lot of good offers and there will be better prices. Oh, right, that money stuff again. Always comes back to that... You know you can already get New Vegas for like 15 bucks right? That's chump change.
  15. This is still relevant too, just cut out Valve's involvement. Makes one also wonder... Should people have to pay for bugfixing mods? Note my views on Arthmoor's contributions, but is it actually okay that Bethesda gets away with releasing broken garbage because people like Arthmoor will just fix it for them? AND then Bethesda will get paid for this bugfixing mod that shouldn't even NEED to exist in the first place!
  16. Why? Because DRM sucks? Then why support beth.net? Another potential source of restriction.
  17. I'm still only able to see the bad it's caused. Splitting the community before, luring authors away to the Workshop. And now, the threat of authors going beth.net exclusive when paid mods come back. And the stealing of mods causing authors to hide their work. What good though? Mods for consoles? Irrelevant to PC gamers. It is my opinion that the Special Edition was only released to re-create the Skyrim modding community, Bethesda's way, rather than try and tackle the pre-existing one again. They want paid mods, it's a certainty. It started with paid mods and it'll end with them. And SKYRIM has a tonne already made, waiting to be turned into gold. Their intentions were made clear last time they tried interfering. And while there's nothing wrong with authors getting paid for their work, there is an issue with mods becoming exclusive to beth.net
  18. Don't assume I am one of those people taking it for granted. Why else would I bother with this discussion if his and other's work didn't mean a lot to me? Skyrim was nothing but a cool concept before Arthmoor got hold of it and turned it into a playable game. That fact wont change regardless of how this discussion ends.
  19. Nobody said it was either. You're assuming an awful lot of wrong things from what people are telling you. This is very simple. Bethesda.net is an alternate location to have mods hosted. There are appreciative people using said service to get their mods either because they don't know about Nexus or cannot access Nexus for one reason or another. I have no issue with providing them the alternate channel. There is no madness involved. It was a fully informed decision on my part to do it. And as far as console mods, all the people running around playing the PC Master Race card are just making the PC modding community look like a bunch of stuck up playground brats. I for one think it's great that they're finally able to enjoy the same things we've had available to us for years. Someone at some point was going to offer that to them and Microsoft and Sony were going to give in and allow it. IMO, better to have that someone be Bethesda than some other company with a far less moddable game system that requires a bunch of crazy hoops to jump through to even make it work. In fact, I'd wager it isn't likely most other moddable PC games could even be adapted for modding on consoles without some major engine restructuring. But they CAN'T enjoy what we do! Their consoles would explode if they tried even 2k texture mods... They can't have DynDOLOD, ENB, RCRN or anything that makes my game beautiful. Beth.net is an inferior platform for uploading and downloading mods. So why use it? I wish you could sell your work on the Nexus Arthmoor, I really do. I'm not against you making money for modding. But the only way you can is by going Beth exclusive (when they finally announce it) and shafting everyone who relies on your work here. And you wont even get that much once Bethesda takes their cut. Would it really be worth it? Bethesda.net is another uPlay in the making.
  20. Donating to a mod author doesn't make you special in any way, shape, or form. It makes you a person who chose to do the right thing. That's your choice. Still entitles you to nothing, not even a thanks or a mention. Of course, but... s***, am I the only one with a shred of decency here? When I donate, I don't do it for praise, I do it for the community. To show my gratitude to mod authors and to do my part in keeping something good together. That's all I want. Modding and the Nexus to keep going as it has been. Isn't it all about making what we love better? Not getting 5 cents of the Dollar which is all Bethesda will give you.
  21. Donating to a mod author doesn't make you special in any way, shape, or form. It makes you a person who chose to do the right thing.
  22. Nothing bethesda.net is offering is superior in any way to the Nexus. I don't understand this madness.
  23. The Nexus is just a mine to be pillaged. Bethesda doesn't give one slight f*** about it. This is how capitalism works. It rapes and takes without a care for the mess it leaves behind.
  24. Selling out is opting for profit rather than keeping the soul together. In this case, the community. At this point I suppose donating means nothing? Those who donate can get shafted? Thanks for the cash, sucker?
  25. I just don't get it. There's nothing wrong with the Nexus, nothing wrong with the community and then Bethesda comes along and tries to govern where no governance is required. The Nexus has served me well these last couple years, I see no reason to use any other mod site. Especially one run by a company that just seems to be forcing their way in without taking responsibility for any issues that come up, like theft. They haven't got a concern in the World for the mod author or user. As long as they get what they want. If they did care, they'd see all they're doing is causing problems and stop trying to change things. But what about third party applications like TESVEdit and SKSE? What about DynDOLOD and Automatic Variants? Things like that? All the best mods require third party software. Arthmoor is right, the community is doing it to itself. This includes people on BOTH sides of the discussion. Those seeking to get paid and those getting star struck at the thought of Bethesda recognizing them. As well as those scratching their heads and wondering why things need to change at all. Meanwhile, Bethesda is sitting back laughing, not a care in the World. Where have we seen this before? Thalmor (Bethesda). Stormcloaks and Imperials (Modding Community)...
