  1. I'm very excited about Skyrim, alas I feel that I simply don't have the time to play it yet. I'm lagging behind when it comes to video games, and before I try Skyrim I would love to first play through some other games that I have missed, like Mass Effect and Dragon Age... and ofcourse, Oblivion. :P As you can notice on these boards, I'm in the process of beginning to explore the Shivering Isles, since I haven't gotten around to that yet. I like Oblivion very much, even more than Morrowind (Although that game was far from bad) and as such I'm looking at alittle more than 1000 hours played, currently. And I still have some things I'd like to do before I progress to a new game. It's also a matter of waiting for a lot of issues and problems to arise and be solved as someone else said. In these situations I've found that it's much better to wait and let others struggle with the bugs and whatnot. :P That, and, I'm waiting until the modding scene for Skyrim has taken off, to see what mods I'll use. Since Skyrim is singleplayer, there's no rush to play it, imo.
  2. I see, doesn't sound too bad. It's very important for me that the game dialogue remains coherent. Thanks guys.
  3. Greetings, about to start a new character to play through Shivering Ilses with, but also to finish up some quests (Mainly the Faction quests) that I never got around to on my last character. So I'm wondering, is there any specific level recommended for adventuring in Shivering Isles? If I want a challenging experience, should I head out there immediatly, or wait abit until I've finished the factions?
  4. Greetings, I have a simple question regarding custom races: What happens to the race-specific dialouge when you play as a custom race? For example, on my Breton, people will sometimes greet me by saying "Greetings, Breton" while in combat other races will comment on if you're Human or Elf, for example. I'm curios what happens when you play as a custom race; does this dialouge simply disappear?
  5. Greetings, making this topic to see if there's any mod out there that can make the thievery in the game more challenging. What I mean here is not only upping the amounts required during the Independent Thievery quest, but rather something that aims to rework how thievery in the game works, making it more challenging to successfully steal. I was quite disappointed with the thievery in Oblivion. Since shopkeeps will follow you around their shops, the only way to properly steal from them is to break in during night and simply raid the place when the owner is sleeping. I had no problem at all roaming freely around the house without waking them up - heck, I sometimes actually RAN around without them ever noticing. And if they DO wake up, they'll simply give you a warning and ask you to leave the place. -.- I noticed this with castle guards aswell - if you'd break in somewhere you weren't supposed to be, a guard would simply ask you to leave, and you'd a long time to do so before anything actually happened. Having a mod where you immediatly get the bounty without warning when somone spots you would be great. I'd also love it if people had a random chance to suddenly wake up and take a stroll around the house, forcing you to run and hide somewhere. Finally I'd like to alter the requirements for the Independant Thievery quest since they are redicilously low in vanilla Oblivion. I realize there is a mod that already does this, but the new values weren't to my tastes. I'd change them myself, but I'm fairly new to modding Oblivion and I don't know if I have the time to start modding. Thanks for reading.
  6. Yeah I figured, using the CS didn't work, Harvald. But this should work, thanks lads! :)
  7. Right, so, I'm playing with the Dryad CM partner, Willa, and would like to make her non-essential so that she can die. I have no idea how to do that, changing her status in the CS didn't have any effect.
  8. Ah, I see. Well going into the CS and messing with things is a bit too complicated for me atm. It's good to know, though, incase I decide to try my hand at it in the future. Thank you my friend!
  9. Bleh so there's nothing I can do? That sucks. Oh well. Thanks.
  10. That wont work, the most powerful frenzy effect is level 25, and my character is level 41. Since I play with OOO it means he is probably around the same level as myself. In either case, I've already tried that, it didn't work.
  11. Greetings. If you have not yet completed the Arena (and wish to do so) stop reading here! Greetings. I've completed the Arena up and to the final battle with Agronak, but due to uncovering his past he now refuses to fight me. Now, this is a battle that I've been looking forward to the entire game, so I'm looking for a way to raise his aggression to the point where he will attack me. So far I've tried using the console command "SetActorValue" but to no avail (Gives me an error), but I'm probably doing something wrong. I've been using the line 37FF9.SetActorValue Aggression 100 where "37FF9" is his ref ID, but it doesn't work.
  12. Installed Pluggy 132 from the Nexus site, but now I'm getting CTD's whenever I try loading my saves. Removed Elys Silent Voice as per instruction, but the problem persists.
  13. Pluggy 132 works on my game without problems. might be a conflict with elys silent voice. Check obselog.txt for conflicts. Have fun Harvald Will do that, thank you!
  14. Greetings, I'm wondering if it's possible to get a full version of Pluggy 128 (Or higher) somewhere? I've tried the ones on the Nexus site, but when I replace the old pluggy files Oblivion crashes on loading a savegame. :/
  15. Abit, late, but: Thank you! Will hopefully be some useful info there. :)
  16. Well, worked fine for a weak or so. Now it only works occasionally, meaning I have to reload Oblivion until it does. I'm guessing there's something preventing the script from running, but what?
  17. Yeah I found them myself last night after looking some more, but thank you nonetheless! What you are saying about the values is disturbing though. :S I will try it out and see for myself, though I've no reason to doubt you. Perhaps if you somehow lower the... "intensity" of the enchantment? That would ofcourse make the items a lot less powerful, but to be fair, that is something I'd be willing to do anyway. I feel that some of them are quite over-powered as is, and I think it's more fun to enchant your own jewelry anyway. :)
  18. Was wondering if there's a mod out there that alters the absurd gold values of most items? I have atleast never seen one. If I were to make such a mod, what would I need to do? It's mainly the enchanted items that concern me, yet I can't find them in the Construction Set.
  19. Was trying out a mod called ActorsInEmotion, which let you change your character's facial expression. However now I cannot get the default expression back; my character now has a stupid grin on her face at all times, and wont turn her head when people are speaking to her. I've tried disabling the ESP, but nothing changes. If I choose the "reset emotion" option, it resets her expression to the default one but she refuses to turn her head to people or display anything BUT the default expression - when I restart the game, she, once again, have the stupid grin on her face. Help please.
  20. http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/8998/screenshot1282.png As you can see, those Altmer are quite tiny... This happened after I saved the game after a session in SexDarkness with Carahil. I have no idea what's wrong or how to get it back to normal; every NPC is now a wierd height, Nords are no longer taller than me, etc...
  21. When I play OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) I am missing sound for any items in the miscallenous section of the inventory i.e. anything from Welkynd Stones to Bear Pelts. Picking up such items, wether they existed in vanilla or not, I do not hear any "pickup" sound. Nor do I get any sound when I click the item in the inventory menu, either to sell them, or to drop them on the ground however they do make the correct sound when landing on the ground; it is just the "swoosh"-sound from picking them up that is missing. I'm sure this has something to do with OOO, running the game without OOO works fine. When running the game with only OOO enabled, those specific sounds are gone again. I know this may seem like a small issue, and indeed everything else in OOO seems to work perfectly, it's just that if I am stealing a big golden vase I would like to also hear as I grab it! :) Thanks in advance, NN.
  22. Tes4Edit is a player-made mod that you can download on the nexus site, just search for it. As you may have noticed, BOSS offers a link to a pretty handy guide for how to safely clean your mods, I'd suggest you follow the steps provided there. Personally I don't clean mods because the procedure was alittle too complicated for me, but it's generally a good idea. The way I understand it, it is often not the mod-creator's fault that their mods become dirty because it is often a matter of bugs with the Construction Set that provides these dirty references which would explain why the DLCs are dirty. As for avoiding conflicts, the key is to not add mods that change the same things. Body mods for instance you want to only keep one active at the same time because many of them modify the same files in your Meshes folder. Be wary of any warning messages and make sure you do not overwrite stuff unless you're sure of what you are doing.
  23. I don't use a Bashed Patch, quite frankly, I hardly know what that is. I know that it has something to do with Wrye Bash which is a program that I have deliberately avoided for fear of it being too complex for me. See, I used Wrye Mash in Morrowind, but to be perfectly honest I never really fully understood what the heck I was doing and/or if I managed to improve anything. :P As a Morrowind-player, I know about Mod conflicts. I know about the importance of ordering your mods. I know all that, and I have been careful to not download mods that will conflict with eachother and have tried to maintain a logical load order (although by using the OBMM up until now when you referred me to BOSS). After running BOSS now a second time I noticed it does mention some mods that need cleaning, think I'll try that next. And I will look into Wrye Bash, see if I can't figure out to create and maintain the Batched Patch atleast. I hear people mentioning it a lot, maybe it's time I finally gave it a try. Also, I'm going away on a trip on wednseday so won't be able to reply here until next week. Thanks for all your help.
  24. I suggest you download the manual install version - easy enough to install, just copy the boss folder from your downloaded archive into your /Oblivion/ directory. From there, just run the exe in the BOSS directory. I couldn't find it when using the installer either.
