  1. Hey, since I couldn't find any specific information about this in the OOO readme, I'm gonna ask here: Normally I run with the Map Marker Ovehaul 3.9 mod to replace and add new markers to the game. It's mentioned in the OOO readme that OOO will add markers for player-owned houses which is among the things that MMO does. Now, there is probably an easy solution to this, mainly I'm wondering wether I should load MMO before or after OOO? Since I'd like to keep the features of MMO.
  2. Hey guys, I'm looking for a mod that adds a colored version of the world map, as displayed here: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9445/1076321208710518.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us The image is from Darnafied UI, but I can't for the life of me seem to find a colored world map within that mod. I'm wondering if this is from a standalone mod, or, is there some option in DarnUi that I have missed?
  3. Greetings, I'm looking for a mod that's supposed to make Oblivion more immersive by adding new NPCs and creatures out in the world like Bounty Hunters hunting bandits and adventurers looting ruins etc but I can't for the life of me figure out what it was called. >< Perhaps you could help on this one. :)
  4. Decided to post this in a new thread as I couldn't get any replies in the other topic: I have been playing Oblivion now for 300 hours on this iteration (first I spent ~140 hours on...) of my first character - but I still consider myself an Oblivion newbie, atleast when it comes to mods. Currently I run with Franscesco's, but it's still not quire cutting it for me so for my next character I would like to try out OOO instead, however there are some things that worries me about OOO. First of all, I'm only about halfway through the main quest because the character I'm playing is evil and has no intention of helping to restore the order (I actually regret starting it altogher...but then again, you have to if you want to have access to Oblivion Gates). I'm wondering if you would recommend actually playing through the main quest before bothering with OOO? I'm afraid of what impact the mod will have that quest, similarily with Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, etc, who I haven't even touched yet. Other than that, I feel like I have a good grasp of the game mechanics, monsters, etc. For me, it's not so much the leveling system per se that bothers me, it's the leveled loot. The fact that that bandit cave right at the starting zone will contain roughly the same loot as some far-away hidden ruin, makes exploration completely redundant. I especially hate how they treated artifacts in this game... And also the money. I just cleared out a necromancer den and made ~10k gold by selling the potions and scrolls they dropped. I want aquiring money to be challenging. So yeah if someone could explain alittle on how exacly OOO goes about changing the world, that would be very much appreciated. Will the Arena also have static opponents, for example? I haven't touched that, either. Should I play through the Arena quests with my current character to get a feel for how/what changes in OOO etc? So, my dilemma is that on one hand I would like to try something new, but on the other, I'm afraid that OOO could possibly ruin my experience of certain quests etc.. EDIT Oh and also, I've found playing an evil character isn't that fun in Oblivion because most of the quests are completely linear. Heck, my fame is greater than my infamy... Now, I could always go and slaughter a bunch of innocent civilians, but that's not really fun is it? :/ So feel free to add some recommendations on mods that would enhance the experience for someone roleplaying an evil character. Sorry bout the long post, meh.
  5. Just trying out MOBS, but I don't seem to get the altered backwards running speed. I've tried running backwards both with and without the mod installed, but I honestly don't notice any difference. It could be the change is too small for me to notice it, however I assumed it would reduce it rather drastically? I get the changes on weapons for damage/weight etc, but not this... I load MOBS last, do I need to load it just after SI (I have the SI version)?

  7. Hmm that's a good idea Inacoma, think I will go that route. Thank you. No - I've just had the UOP itself installed, as is. Tell you the truth, I'm abit sick of these vampire-issues and if what Inacoma suggested wont work, I will probably just go with the way she looks now. Thanks everyone for your help with this!
  8. Right, it works, but, I wanted to give her some more vampirish features (mainly a brighter skintone to make her look more pale) yet when I enter the race menu, this happens: http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/5598/screenshot1011.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  9. This is a known bug in the game: loading a save game with a female vampire character will result in the character having a male face. The workaround is to load an old save with that character before she became a vampire, then load the vampire save game. See this UESPWiki article for more details. The UOP never really fixed this for me. There are mods that fix this as well as removing some of the more unsightly vampirism effects. I am currently using Vampire Race Disabler, which removes the ugly aging and shader effect, but leaves the fangs, facial morphs, and eyes. My character looks good and loads with the proper face every time. Highly recommended. Thank you - The problem is that when I load an older savegame then the current one, she still loses the skin color etc that I've given her, it seems you've had the same problem. I will look into the article and the mod you have provided once I have some spare time - thank you again. :)
  10. Erm it still reverts back to the ugly face when I have exited and then reentered the game. Is there something in particular I need to do besides activiting the fix as I did when installing?
  11. Oh? I'll be darned! Thanks! But wait, will that patch work for a game this old? I'd imagine I'd have to start a new gam- ah nevermind. Thanks for your help.
  12. Greetings. Ever since my char caught vampirism, I have been running into wierd problems with the game. The most obvious one is that her face now looks completely horrible; I realize that vampirism is meant to alter her face, but, it gives her a completely different, MALE, face. Here is an image: http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/1561/screenshot1009.png I have tried altering her appearance with the console, but it reverts back to this ugly face whenever I exit and re-enter the game, or simply by loading the file! I am using Natural Faces, IFT and Enayla's Facial Textures, but those are mostly replacers so deleting them wouldn't work I think. Is there anyone who has experienced something like this? Also, more importantly, ever since I started progression through the vampiric stages, my save games seem to have become unstable. Sometimes when trying to load them the game simply keeps crashing and I have to load an older save. This morning I tried to load the quicksave and got the message "Save game corrupt. Reverting back to game" or something like that. This has led me to save constantly and is quite scary since the character in question has almost 300 hours played.
  13. Thank you, but you fail to specify some things; I don't risk ruining my reputation in the Dark Brotherhood and/or Thieves Guild by joining the Fighter's Guild, right? Is Fame/Infamy only about the disposition increase/decrease? Correct. The factions that you can join are completely independent of each other. Wonderful - thank you!

  15. Thanks for the advice. I take it it's a common problem then. :)
  16. Hey all, I was wondering abit about factions. I'm playing an evil character so joining the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild was a must. I also joined the Mages Guild for the ability to enchant and craft my own spells since getting into the Arcane University seems to be the only way to do it. But I'm contemplating wether I should join the Fighter's Guild or not. Thing is, I want to because I'd like to take advantage of their trainers, but I'm not sure if I should from a gameplay perspective. In one of the Oblivion loading screen tips it is stated that "you can make new friends - and enemies - by joining a guild" and I'm wondering, how true is that? Will certain factions like you more or less if you join other factions? Are there any quests (try not to spoil anything!) that involve killing/stealing from another faction (In Morrowind there was a quest to steal from the Mages' Guild, for example.)? Finally, is there any penalty for joining and advancing in all the factions? Also, about fame... What exacly does it do (Besides raising/lowering disposition)? If I want to play an evil character that becomes infamous and feared, can I still have fame points? I'm wondering since I want to get atleast 15 fame so I can buy the biggest houses. But would that screw up my caréer as a villian? :)
  17. Well, I for one could not imagine playing neither Morrowind or Oblivion without mods. One of the main attractions for me with these games is that if I see something I don't like, I can change it. These games are simply amazing because they allow the player to customize their game to better suit their personal tastes; you can't do that on consoles (yet). As such, I stay away from the console-versions and honestly can't imagine why anyone would prefer those... That 90% of their playerbase belongs on consoles is simply the wierdest thing I've ever read and I'd advice you to take that number with a grain of salt. :P
  18. Uh, now it works again... :/ All I did was reboot my computer... I have the latest version of Oblivion, don't remember what that is, 1.2-something, but I'm sure I have it as I have the GOTY edition. I guess I'd better get ready to re-install Oblivion... until then, I'll just cross my fingers. :P Thanks guys. EDIT Oh, while i'm at it I have one more thing I'm concerned about: My Oblivion often crashes when I exit the game. This isn't really a problem since I have ample time to save before I exit, but it worries me. Should I be worried? The game rarely crashes in-game (Unlike Morrowind *shivers*), but _often_ (not always) crashes when I exit, as said. Anyone that might have any idea why?
  19. I have been running Oblivion with several mods and OBSE v0020 for over a month now without any problems. Today, however, I had been playing and then exited Oblivion to change some mods in the load order. After that I can't run it with OBSE anymore for some reason: "You have an unknown version of Oblivion"... I have no idea what happened and would rather not run it without OBSE as some of my mods depend on it. Appreciate any help...
  20. Nah, I've had a look at FCOM before and the installation gave me the spooks. ;) Something I may try in the future, but for now I will settle with using just Frans. Always hard to tell if you may like something or not without actually trying it hehe - I think I will give MOBS a try, afaik it should be possible to switch back to vanilla combat if it's not to my tastes. Anyways, thanks for the reply. :)
  21. There are particular dungeons for each of them. In general, they don't mix in the same dungeon (with some exceptions) because, if I'm not mistaken, they fight each other. A dungeon that has bandits will always have bandits (unless a mod changes that). For example, Belletor's Folly is a bandit dungeon, and Fort Alessia is a marauder dungeon That being said, if you keep visiting the same bandit dungeon, you'll always face the same bandits (with different equipment) regardless of your level. You'll also notice that generally, no other enemy type will spawn in the same dungeon too (for the same reason), unless they were there by default (as pets, such as dogs for some bandit hideouts, or added by a mod). For example, you won't randomly find Imps in Belletor's Folly or in Fort Alessia. Ah yes, seems like I have just been (un)lucky then not to run into them for awhile.
  22. I'm going to pop in a question here... I am going to try out Francesco's for the first time but I'm not sure if I should play it with MOBS or not... So far the only real gripe I have with the vanilla combat is that Marksman is so weak... how big a difference will it make? Also, since I prefer playing stealthy chars (always sneaking in dungeons etc), would MOBS be something for me? You see I have bad experience with a similar mod for Morrowind that was supposed to balance the weapon stats but ended up making certain weapon types overpowered instead. :) Also, where can I find the latest version of OOO? The Nexus search results where... confusing, to say the least. :P
  23. (italics mine) I've been scanning through the attribute pages of UESP vigourosly, yet for some reason it seems I've actually missed that line. :wallbash: Oh well, it would seem then that while Skills affect your attributes (what bonus modifier you get), attributes does not actually do anything for the skills (except determining damage). Thanks for clearing that up for me guys. :) I noticed that the reason my Conjuration is levelling up so fast is because it's simply set be faster to level than, say, Restoration (Hardest magic skill to level) etc.
  24. Alright, so it's basically the same system that Morrowind had? I.e. you start fighting rats and move onto Alits, Blighted Alits (and eventually those god-awful Cliff Racers) except that the monsters now also level up with you. So, at level 18 (for example) all the Bandits I encounter will be around 16-20 in levels? That means that spells that have "up to level 6" for example are utterly useless in the higher levels? It's good to know which ones will work, and for how long. :) So, there doesn't seem to be any "cap" to the level scaling then? Basically a level 46 char will still find challenging opponents, just as a level 90 char would (if reaching such a high level was possible)? Anyways thank you for you reply, I feel like I have it mostly figured out - I'm installing Fransceco's mod right now, and, it seems from the descriptions to be exacly what I have been looking for. :)
