How to stop Fallout 4 from updating (Steam/GOG/Xbox)
CrowOfItachi replied to Pickysaurus's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I have no idea what the heck is going on. I've read through this thread ten times, and everyone is talking about depots, changing this to that, etc. Can someone please explain in plain English how to do this? I really don't want to screw this up, but I can't even understand what people are talking about. The worst part is knowing that Steam will update my game any day now because the stupid thing auto-updates after a certain amount of time. Here's the biggest issue I'm having. I don't know how to check which one I installed. Also, I don't know what I need to do on here. All I see is a bunch of numbers and links. What am I supposed to click? What am I looking for? What am I supposed to do? I swear, I haven't been this frustrated since I had to downgrade SSE myself because the person who made the Downgrader Patch never updated it. -

Because it's breaking people's modded games, and if the AE update for SSE is an indicator of anything, many modders will have a hard time trying to update their mods due to the changes. -

So, if I do this, does it mean I don't have to deal with the other nonsense? -

I don't mean to be rude, but this part is very confusing for people who don't mess with this stuff often, like me. I looked at the page linked for the depots, but I have no clue what I'm looking for. What am I supposed to do? -
My friend Babydoll told me that. She knows how much I hate games with bad aiming mechanics and told me that Starfield's is garbage. It's funny how both FO4 and Starfield are made by Bethesda, isn't it? I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I'll check it out when I can. I played Far Cry 3, 5, and New Dawn, which were excellent. Though, I hate it when games punish you for accidentally killing innocent people. It's not my fault that some random schmuck was behind the guy I shot with a .50 BMG!

I play in first person, which was why I mentioned FPS games. I only played Watch Dogs a little bit, so I can't remember how the aiming was in that game. As for Ghost Recon games, I've never played them. Now, when it comes to realism, I don't really care if a game is realistic or not. It's just that when I aim a gun at an enemy, I want to be able to hit where I'm aiming. Sometimes, I miss and know it's me, but other times, I know it's not me.

I ask this because trying to shoot enemies in this game is a pain. As someone who owns guns in real life and has been playing FPS games all his life, I can say with confidence that FO4's aiming is crap. I put the reticle on the enemy, pull the trigger, and somehow miss the target even when they're right in front of me. An example is when I'm using a .44 revolver against a raider with the long barrel upgrade. I point the gun at their chest from about twenty feet away when they're not moving and shoot, but the bullet misses. I own a S&W M29 with a four-inch barrel that I shoot all the time at moving targets at the range that are way smaller than a human torso, and it's far easier to hit my mark even when I'm thirty feet away. Also, like I said, I haven't had this issue with almost any other FPS I've played. Does anyone else have this issue?

What was the game that caused your gaming addiction to begin?

The first Doom game. I played it as a kid 28 years ago when I was 7, and I still play it to this day. I'm pretty sure I could beat both Doom 1 and 2 blindfolded at this point. Yes. I played it when I was 7, and I still turned out fine. -
So, I just finished downgrading my game using the Steam console, and everything seems to have worked. However, there's still Creation Club stuff in my load order. How do I get rid of it? UPDATE: After a few hours of fussing around with this nonsense, I figured it out. I found a comment in the Downgrader Patch's posts tab that had a solution to use an older version of the mod to delete the CC crap. However, that didn't delete the Resource Pack for CC. After texting my friend Ashley, a former modder, she told me that I could go into the game's files and delete it there. I did that, and now everything is working fine. Bethesda needs to stop updating this game. Seriously, no one cares about the AE update enough for them to continue wasting time on it.

I'll go ahead and put a post about that on the Skyland page. It couldn't hurt. However, this didn't happen until after I installed the other mods because I had Skyland for a while before getting the others. I don't know. Perhaps you're seeing something I'm not. Like I said, I'm not good with these things.
