Yup, tried that. All verifying the game cache did for me was to note that one of my files (it didn't specify which one) was not verified and download another and overwrite it. I lost all the ini tweaks I made, including the mouse fix, and the game still crashes within minutes. It's not as though I was the only person who was unable to play after the "patch" though. I'm one of the many "It didn't work for me" people, though I (thankfully) didn't post anything saying so. I replaced the ini files with my backups, and still I have same mouse problem as the vanilla and the game still crashes within minutes. I'm off to redo the troubleshooting I did last night in the hopes I did something incorrectly in my alcohol induced stupor. It was a really frustrating and irritating five hours that led up that rant, but it wasn't really constructive or necessary (though I did have some valid points). Cheers. When do you crash exactly? If it's on loading a save game; did you ever change your uGridsToLoad to anything, and did you change it back after you verified?

I totally agree with this. I'm playing with no compass, no crosshair and very little use of the map. infact the only reason i use the map is because I HAVE to in order to see where the hell I go for quests.

How can one patch ruin YEARS of playing and enjoying a video game series for you? How did you "lose" your character?

I've installed the 4GB patch and it has helped tremendously. I don't CTD anymore. A 6 or 8GB wouldn't make a difference at all. Skyrim uses around 1GB (vanilla) so unless you have some HD texture mods or a lot of background programs running, you wouldn't need to allocate that much RAM.

I think the best advice to give you in order to not make any mistakes for your first character, would be to focus on a certain set of skills. Don't spread yourself thin. My first character is a Sword and Shield, Heavy Armor wearing Warrior with smithing. That's it. He is currently lvl 35 and I can kill Frost Dragons without having to worry about my health. So he's a bit OPed.

Everyone knows in traditional Dragon Ball Z that would have taken about 3 episodes to cast. :yes:

I agree on the no hp or mana being a bit extreme. I have been playing with no compass, crosshair and fast travel for a while now and it has opened up the game a lot. Now whenever I'm near my home with my wife, and it's getting late, I walk/run all the way there and sleep until 5-6 am so that I have the benefit of the 8 hour buff. And since I don't use fast travel, I get to experience that buff for the whole 8 hours! Actually using inns as oppose to fast travelling home is kind of fun too. If you think you are getting bored already, I advise you try to commit to this play style for a bit. You might find it quite fun and compelling.

Not really, all systems still use the same .esm file architecture as far as I know. Possibly they're including the construction kit or the graphical update? They said "The PC Patch" because the PS3 and Xbox 360 patches have to be submitted for approval where as the PC patch is just uploading it to steam. So us PC players are basically having to wait because the approval process for PS3 and Xbox 360 is stupid long.

By far most memorable quest yet.

I started with my 360 controller then I used a bow, and pretty much immediately switched to mouse and keyboard.

Add bAllowConsole=0 to the skyrim.ini in your documents/my games/skyrim/ directory. Should work.

I'm honestly jealous of your guys' ability to create multiple characters so soon. Well at least soon compared to me. I've been playing my first character who is an Imperial Warrior specialized in Sword and Shield, Heavy Armor and Smithing. I have 53 hours in as of this writing and have only completed The Companions questline and dabbled in the main quest. I can't wait to create my second set of eyes to explore Skyrim with.
