  1. Yeah, I have to agree with you there. I occasionally enjoy the hardcore game but the big fights are fun. Halo has this awesome vehicular combat when it comes to online. Vehicles don't feel all that invincible. But I just like to have a BR (or now DMR) at all times, because AR drilling and punching people isn't that fun all the time for me. It is a shooter after all, and I'd say the king of console shooters. Also, for anyone that will be using Forge World, you do actually get credits for going around and building stuff.
  2. Hey, I'm an avid Borderlands player on Xbox LIVE. Well, maybe not anymore. When the DLC (Claptrap) comes out and I find some people IRL that wanna play a bit, I would definitely be in for another playthrough. I have a level 61 Siren with a copy of every orange gun that isn't a chimera. Still have to get that. All achievements except for Mad Moxxi...even if one changes the level cap of all the monsters, it still will take a ridiculously long time. I think Sirens are arguably the best class, especially if one chooses to play alone, but other classes are fun too. Berserker is the most fun if you ask me, though he may really need lots of HP support. Couple tips regarding guns: - Know how elements work. Shock is good for shields (Guardians go down quickly with Orion) Fire is good for flesh (Volcano) Explosive is good for vehicles and is just all around fun to use and corrosives make short work of armored opponents (Crimson Lance.) Avoid corrosive weapons that do lots of damage in one shot (such as snipers.) Corrosive works best when you hit opponents multiple times and snipers aren't very useful for that. - Find a balance with your guns. It needs to have good firerate, a good clipsize, good accuracy AND good damage. Depending on your gun however, you can sacrifice a few aspects though. For example, to beat Crawmerax (personally,) I used Jacob's Skullmasher. It isn't the best SkullMasher out there but for boss fights it is pretty handy; bosses don't take elemental damage all the time and are big too. That makes it easy to land critical shots and my teammates can cover me if needed. As a Siren, it is also possible to do some hit-and-run. I currently use (just by memory:) Pestilent Defiler Revolver (x4 Corrosive) Volcano Sniper (x4 Fire.) Finally found a really good one after a ton of hunting...these babies are pretty common on playthrough two. Double Anarchy...with desert camo (140ish damage x4 I believe.) IMO these are the best kind of gun in the game. A good one beats every gun out there IMO for super high health enemies along with a high crit damage build. Some sort of rocket launcher (when not using Orion.) They have fun effects and I just use them for kicks. Have yet to get all Pearlscents and I've been quite unlucky. Only found one so far.
  3. Expected a generic VS topic, but I was wrong, fortunately. :) Some info: I heard MAG is pretty crazy. I don't own it, but I read that most people generally just see it as a Call of Duty with a ton of players. The game is definitely teamwork based, but when people aren't cooperating, I heard it turns into a nightmare. However, time has passed. I don't know if that holds true anymore, but for someone trying to get away from MW2, it doesn't seem like a good idea. I also read MAG simply isn't as fine tuned of a shooter as the others we have come to know and love. Don't know about ArmA 2. Sorry. Medal of Honor actually looks pretty good. If you haven't read, the campaign and multiplayer are being developed seperately, with the multiplayer being handled by DICE. Yep, the Battlefield guys. Supposedly it will NOT be Battlefield and will be a bit more fast paced. Online community unknown, obviously. But I would count on lots of MW2 fanboys hopping over here. So I dunno. And...Bad Company. It is a true war experience that isn't all about killing IMO. As I said in another topic, you can just drive vehicles, repair stuff, heal and call positions all day. That is the great thing about Battlefield. Plus, buildings explode. No entrance? Make one. The gun sounds are amazing are incredibly realistic with War Tapes on. Youtube it and just listen to it. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk9dGP_9lM8 Overall, I would recommend Bad Company 2. Played the demo on Xbox Live, and immediately thought, "THIS is the MW2 I wanted to play." It is definitely a departure from MW2 and plays very differently. Lots of people who went "hay gaiz wuts ths new gaem" from MW2 ended up dying a ton because this is a game where you can't rush in all the time. More than half the time you'll get sniped, blown up by some tank, etc. I think those people have diminished in numbers now. For most part, I've had some great games. Multiplayer issues: Sometimes people are just total jerks and don't want to give you ammo or health. As I recall from another forum, a poster complained by saying "Hey. When your teammate is jumping on you like a rabid animal, it means they want AMMO." And then there is a similar problem to Team Fortress 2, when EVERYONE decides to snipe or EVERYONE wants to drive a vehicle. That brings down the whole team and one can't carry like one might be able to in MW2; every type of unit is needed to some extent to win. And watch out for the C4-packed UAVs and ATVs. Some people like to wire those babies up and drive them into stuff. Kind of like 1943 with planes. I don't see this anymore really, but it can still happen. This is coming from someone who plays on Xbox LIVE and the PC community is probably different. But just want to help. [EDIT] The Limited Edition of Bad Company 2 sounds like a good deal. Comes with basically...everything BC2 related so far.
  4. shot then burned  there's no way he'll survive that man.... unless he really is a ghost  Yeah, really right? Well, I personally think an "MW3" will be over-milking the genre. Seriously, look how many modern warfare style games there are now. We have CoD4, MW2, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and now Medal of Honor is coming up. How can we possibly take ANOTHER, especially with Black Ops? Making a follow up was a great idea from CoD4 but here...no. >_< And we definitely need more hack-proof games, but as long as it is made by people, there is a way to undo it. Black Ops looks great for those who really enjoy the gameplay though. Especially with that whole betting CoD points thing. That's one thing Halo: Reach won't have, although they both have a currency system going on. After all, Treyarch is only using the same engine Infinity Ward made. In WaW, it seemed (to me) that every idea that wasn't Zombies was a bad idea. Oh. Thank God Black Ops does not have stackable killstreaks. If MW3 reverts back...well...I dunno. But as long as shooting up people in Call of Duty is the coolest thing to be doing, everyone is gonna buy it, no matter how much BS and lag comes with it. [EDIT] MW3 will have a squad member named Shampoo, Soap's sister. Seriously. </sarcasm> </unoriginal_joke>
  5. Even then, this icon isn't bigger than Gamespot. 912 > 848. This is really cool though. Favorited. Aww...GameFAQ.com is 672! I visit there a lot.
  6. Shoots, no morning forum browsing for me tomorrow! I only registered recently but I am really enjoying my time here; the majority of people here are kind and caring and incredibly talented. I'm glad to see that this place is getting even better. I stopped posting on forums for a long time because of rude and ignorant people, but this place has me coming back. Looking forward to this.
  7. Oh yeah, definitely. But these guys do things such as causing another person to cancel his/her credit card account, sexually harassing others and posing as Bungie Studios. I know it is fun to joke around at times, but I think that takes it too far. About MW2. Pistols are awesome, and the .44 has basically replaced the Desert Eagle from CoD4. I have never heard someone that seriously uses suppressed sniper for real, especally the Intervention. (Barrett and Intervention have same bullet damage for an odd reason.) Not that it is a problem though. And you aren't alone either; both me and my bro have gotten accused of being hackers. I heard a good way to make people mad is to go into hardcore with shotgun attachments...heard it can insta-kill from super long range.
  8. I preordered this game about 3 months ago. I NEED this game (next to Marvel vs Capcom 3.) I am a Forge fanatic in Halo 3, Ghost Merging, Interlocking and all, and Forge World looks AMAZING. I wasn't really hyped until I heard that and the return of all our classic maps. Good thing DMR bloom got reduced. The weapon models are so incredibly detailed too...just look at a still shot and check out the gun! :) Oh, and it appears we have alternate weapon reloads too. How interesting...but do the different reload animations have the same running time? Otherwise, I expect MLG people to get angry.
  9. I've discussed something similar to this topic before. Evil is defined by us, human beings. It is morals. While something like science is absolute and tells us what may happen, it doesn't necessarily tell us what is right or wrong. That's for us, human beings, to try to decide. Morals can change with time and depend on what kind of people you are talking to. Everyone has his or her own. I'm gonna say this: when we are born, we are born with the instincts to do what all living things do out there: survive. Live. If it means taking another life, yeah. Society says no as we human beings live a radically different (and better) life than other creatures on this planet, and thus we say "evil," in this case. So in short, I'd say no, we aren't evil. [EDIT] Read evilneko's post. How well written... :D
  10. Yeah. I mute every game I play online now. I mute in Halo, Call of Duty, Battefield BC2, Super Street Fighter IV, Blazblue all the time. My brother is one those underage people online (13), but he feels the same way I do and is pretty damn good at the game; as I mentioned in the BC2 VS MW2 topic, he puts a lot of people in their places with his skills. He played in a tournament that was hosted by Machinima.com. It just so happened a few Hawaii kids screwing around got into a huge tournament that came with a free HD video capture card. I do find videos on Youtube of the "F@G" as they call themselves or the "Federation of ******* Gamers" pretty funny when it comes to little kids online. They are somewhat questionable in their actions though. People should switch over the fighting games for a better community. I'm biased and they aren't pick up and play games, but the community appears to be generally kind and I get plenty of "good games" after matches. And plenty rematches for fun too. Occasionally one might receive trash from the other player, but in the end (between me and my opponent,) we understand each other. And then it ends with a friend request. But man. While multiplayer has given me some of the best experiences ever in a video game, it also has given the worst. [EDIT] Ugh, forgive my ignorance on the rules of language. I merely assumed because there are M rated games on here, but 'tis true that anyone can read these forums. I'll be sure to be aware next time.
  11. @ub3rman123 There is the cheat way to do it and the real way to do it. But regardless, if you know what you are doing, easy. The cheat way is to go in the corner on the left side in that pocket. Crawmerax will never hit you and you are free to shoot at his limbs. His weak point on his backside can be hit using snipers that bounce shots off walls (namely Orion) or Nidhoggs (Death from Above.) OR, plug in a second controller and shoot him to make him turn around. Then pop that last sucker. If Gearbox patched it, you can do it by yourself and uninstall all Xbox patches. (PS3 I dunno.) The regular way for me is to max out my critical like nuts, grab something like Jacob's Skullmasher and shoot the targets. For me, it is one or two shot to burst each part of the body. I play as a Siren, so hit and run. If you are anything else, it might become difficult to avoid his attacks. Plenty people have soloed this guy (though he was meant to be beaten by a party of four, obviously.) I have basically every achievement that isn't Mad Moxxi. I'm far too lazy and don't intend to waste time going through all those waves only to start all over again.
  12. I feel for you man. But this is exactly why I don't intend to play multiplayer - especially MW2 - online for PC. I heard it is still the great game we know, but the online community is plagued with tons of hackers, aimbot users, etc. But even then, the console version isn't too much better. Lots of cheaters there too. How sad that the community is what is making MW2 bad.
  13. Eh, yeah. I guess I shouldn't say I 100% agree, but it definitely varies. Everyone grows up from different backgrounds and different experiences. Some feel like they have to live up to huge expectations (family) or for people like me, are self-driven and parents don't really care THAT much about grades, etc. We all have different places in our hearts for family and friends. (Oh yeah. Nice signature. I hate rap. I say this with a light sense of humor: I read somewhere that rap stands for "Retards Attempting Poetry." I don't mean to offend anyone and they aren't my words, but I do understand some people out there genuinely enjoy it.)
  14. OK...I'm going to lie but yeah. I do like the Intervention a lot too. Even if the gun sound is unrealistic, as well as its usage. It feels so satisfying...like the way Halo's sniper rifle is. Heck, that's why I've mod toxa's Intervention in Fallout 3 to resemble the CoD one. I find it really annoying how you have be be PRO to play. OMG gotta quick scope, no thermal, no explosives and all that crap. That is the way the game was meant to be played, fools. Funny thing: my brother is really good at MW2 and he puts a lot of people in their places. He goes around playing with his pimped out Barrett and some guy rages at him. So he goes, "OK, I'll play how you wanna play." Guy says that he has to use Intervention FMJ, SoH, Stopping Power and Steady Aim. My bro quick scopes him across the whole map first thing, guy quits. LOL.
  15. Bad Company 2. It really depends on your style of play. MW2 is more arcade-y shooter if you know what I mean. Although DICE's has its own take on modern warfare, it is very different. Bad Company is more focused on the team rather than sense of self and encourages you to communicate and do other things besides kill. Battlefield...you can fix stuff, drive vehicles around, call out locations. Much more. MW2 encourages you to huddle up in a corner and get all giddy in your seat as you rain death outdoors. BC2 also is just amazing in so many more ways. -The characters feel more alive compared to MW2, which is an entirely different style campaign. We have a four man squad who are really just your average soldiers versus a spec ops team that means business all the time. -AMAZING SOUND. Oh my god, where do I begin. Fire the M95 indoors with War Tapes on. Go on Youtube and look up War Tapes in this game. Far greater and more realistic sound effects than any in MW2. -More rewarding gameplay. Bullet drop. 'Nuff said for me. -BC2 uses guns that would be more realistic for a modern day war rather than MW2. We do have some old WW2 guns for novelty purposes, but other than that...yes. I mean, Cheytec Intervention? WA2000? 1887s? Seriously. No. Overall, DICE has created a game that actually resembles war compared to MW2.
  16. Me? No. Gaming does not affect my perception of women in real life at all. I don't expect any more or less because of what I've seen. Games are games. They aren't real. I'd like to say though (don't want to get TOO off topic)...video games could have a very profound impact on female players and their sense of self. I say female players mainly because females seem to be a lot more self-conscious about their appearance, but guys equally so. Just look at Fallout 3 Nexus. Bethesda's engine is capable of some pretty amazing graphics, and other games even moreso as we progress into the future. Plenty mods on here allow you to play Barbie doll and you could make the perfect person with too many clothes to try out. As I posted on one particular picture recently...I said something along the lines of "Wow. She looks too perfect; no wrinkles or anything." How does such an appearance influence women? This can also branch off to ideas of weight loss and other diet programs. Even anorexia and such. People could be trying to achieve an image that is next to impossible to achieve. Hell, I could make someone look skinnier with a few clicks in Photoshop. Think any of those pictures in magazines are unedited? Not really. Lots of pictures are edited to bring out certain features to make people look better than they should. Video games could just very well be an addition to the many other mediums that are projecting distorted realities and changing the way we think about ourselves. In all cases, it must be said again that none of it is 100% real.
  17. Oh boy. Played the living daylights out of this baby...I only need a Chimera and then I have one of all legendary/orange guns. And then all those damn Pearlescents.... Well, lets see. 1. Customizable weapons. Gotta agree on that one. Borderlands actually is pretty interesting in regards on how it assembles different weapons. Mixing and matching parts could prove interesting. At least allow us to change our weapon color please. I'm really tired of running to that same red case trying to get cool guns, or blowingup Crawmerax (sp?) over and over again. 2. More players. I have no idea how that would handle though. 3. More immersive towns and voice acting. I guess it is too much to ask for, but it would be nice. Fallout kind of has that part down, the upcoming Rage appears to have nailed that. But Borderlands? A Claptrap running around at most. By the way, those guys are the coolest things ever. Cool that they are in the new DLC. 4. Marketing area? People sure love to buy and sell guns online, but there is no real system to enforce it. And yes. AN ENDING.
  18. What an interesting topic. Like my profile says, I'm 18 and will be heading to college soon. I'm very self-driven and my parents trust me. It isn't one that I would ever take advantage of, though. To me...the biggest change to the world has definitely, and undeniably been the whole trend of social networking and the Internet. The Internet is relatively new and hasn't been around very long. And the concepts of stuff such as Facebook with mobile devices...well, even less. Now it is very ubiquitous. Lots of commercials out there with "Hey, check out our Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc." But there are definitely other things too as already mentioned...TV is a big one. And like older generations, music, literature. The list goes on and on. Back to the Internet...I personally do not have such an account for social networking sites because I really believe it is detrimental. I don't want to contribute to its popularity. My brother practically lives on Facebook and talks to his friends all the time. The guy barely talks with me anymore, but communicates. But here's the thing: he is only talking with his friends. For someone like me who is heading hundreds of miles away from home for an education, I could potentially (and easily) communicate with my old friends. While it is nice to keep in touch, it doesn't exactly encourage going out, talking to new people and learning new things. In short, it gives us the option to stay at home and not grow up. I'm also going to have to agree with Mr Ham here. For some, parents aren't always around. Maybe both parents work and can't provide the attention that our growing person should need. Heck, my parents are out from morning until 3PM or even as late as 9PM. But friends and peers? School is the other half of a growing person's life. With lots of social sites out there that many parents are not entirely aware of...well, more than ever.
