bug - my game crashies when ever i quit the game..
majikmonkee replied to TSDREX's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Um, what? It crashes when you quit? As in the game closes when you try to close it? I'm not sure I understand the problem. 90% of the time when I try to quite the game, it freezes on exit, I just need to close it with ctrl+alt+del, but that's been happening since before I ever added any mods. -
I didn't wear the cowl during that party quest, because I read somewhere that you can get stuck with the effects of the cowl forever if you have it forcefully removed. Word to the wise, don't wear it when you cast the spell, because that's a bad thing...

Um, ask her if she was a good vampire or a bad vampire? Lol Just kidding really. Obviously most people would prefer to not have to ask. Luckily, she has a spell she can use to appear completely normal as long as she's fed recently, people like her fine that way.

But Corrine is always very careful to leave some left over, plus, she never leaves a hickey. She is very much like Count Hassildor in that she controls her vampirism most of the time and uses her vampiric powers very much like any other super power. It's only when she goes without feeding that I let her dark side come out.

I should probably install that patch at some point. I downloaded it a long time, but I never encountered any issues with the mod, so it's just sitting around...I was afraid it might cause conflicts with some of my mods.

I have trouble getting NPC's to drown when I want them to. It seems to me that an Imperial Legion wearing a full suit of iron armor would sink like a stone when they are unconscious, not float to the surface. Sorry, wildly off topic here... :P

With my luck I'd drop it and forget where I put it. lol -

I haven't seen any sign of a mod that addresses the bow/staff/sword/shield hiding issue, I agree, it puts just a tiny ripple in the realism when you magically (or analy) produce weapons that weren't there before (I'm actually a little bothered by the face that you can hide tables and planks the length of two men on your person in certain mods, but we'll table that issue for now). I'll probably be keeping an eye open for this myself. Maybe in the process of making this mod maybe someone will correct the weird effect where weapopns seem to be floating off the hip or several inches away from the players back. -
Unfortunately, no. The PC faces are saved in the savegame files, and these can't be accessed through tools like the contruction set. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem anyone has come up with a tool that allows editing save game faces, I imagine there are some technical limitations preventing it.

One of my companions was following me in the Battlehorn Castle, and he kept getting stuck running against the edge of display cases. I'm guessing his AI was assuming there was a door in the way, because he would open the cases, then just keep running. It drove me nuts, I'm pretty picky about lids and cupboards standing open irl (sharp corners, you know)so I had to keep running back and closing them all...and of course my companion was getting stuck on the cases again as he tried to follow me to close them... -
Vampire stat boosts won't go away
majikmonkee replied to majikmonkee's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Well, I never did resolve this issue, I loaded a game that I had as a backup from over a week ago (sort of depressing, I completed at least three tedious mods since the backup save). I'd be curious in case this happens again if there is a fix, but for now, I "fixed" it with a reload. :wallbash: -
This is the first time I've run into a problem that could potentially ruin my game, I hope someone can help me. I've been using Lithian's Nature of the Beast beta, and it's worked fine so far. There's a spell in the game that enhances your attributes considerably and increases your chance for a critical "power attack". Well, as luck would have it, something went wrong, and one time after I deactivated the spell, my stats still stayed "boosted". Even after removing the mod, the stat enhancements remain, and we're talking about a ridiculous boost of like 300+ points to acrobatics and some other lesser boosts. I just want my old stats back, at this point, I'd remove the mod entirely if it helped, but it doesn't. Is there a way to identify what's causing the stat boost and somehow disable it? I'm really pissed off at nobody in particular, I just can't believe my bad luck here.

I've been using Lithian's Nature of the Beast vampire mod for some time now, and I've really gotten a kick out of the Vampiric Strength spell, especially the random chance it grants to do a "power attack" that basically sends the enemy flying hundreds of feet if you're outdoors. I've sent city watchmen flying onto rooftops, getting stuck on signs outside business doors, and recently killed someone in their home with an attack that sent them flying into a crumpled heap lying atop a wardrobe. It makes me laugh seeing an enemy fighting me with fierce determination and overconfidence, only to have him become a space cadet moments later after a preposterously strong power attack.

Characters you attach significance to
majikmonkee replied to RobCoPublicReassurance's topic in Oblivion's Spoilers
I find Lord Rugdumph to be one of the more humorous characters in the game, he provides endless amusement. I'm also a fan of Puny Ancus, he was one of the first beggars I ever encountered, and he just comes off as a kindly soul, I do whatever I can to prevent seeing him killed by accident. Most people seem to really like Methredehl, she's nice, but I prefer Carwen, she just seems a little more friendly and has come to my aid on several occasions at the Waterfront. -
I found the ill fated rock climber beneath Dive Rock on my own. As for exploring the waterways of Cyrodiil, I actually have an argonian character who never surfaces...his entire life is spent beneath the waves, luckily, I have alive waters to make things a little more interesting (he does surface at night in the event he needs to get to a body of water apart from the one he is currently in).

I use about 60 mods actually, just not naked mods.

I wouldn't know, my game is more vanilla than that still. No nekkid people or monsters...or kickboxing.

Funny Glitches/Quotes/Cheats
majikmonkee replied to IgnorantBeast101's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
I've heard of "beating a dead horse" before, but getting beaten BY one, now that's just ridiculous! Corrine was trying to return to her shack on the Waterfront after a productive night of creating mayhem as a vampire. The Imperial guard who wanders back in forth in front of the harbor started hassling her for being a vampire, so she cut his head off, leaving his corpse lying in the street. A couple days later, she was doing the Thieve's Guild mission where all of the Imperial guards are wandering around the waterfront looking for Armond, and the headless body had moved itself in between the shacks, presumeably moved there as a scripted event (it was still dead and lying motionless, of course). Speaking of Deadly Reflex, I used the spell that makes people explode on the annoying fan, forgetting at the time that he respawns, and each different piece of him would in turn respawn. Well, pictures say it best... http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f162/majikmonkee1975/trifans.jpg -
What's your character doing bare-assed in the snow? No wonder her greatest want is clothes. I'd be laughing too hard at the naked kickboxing to win a fight. Granted, when Corrine is in full vampire mode, she tends to wear the skimpy but elegant BAB sorceress clothing and go barefoot in the snow (i operate under the assumption that vampires aren't bothered by cold) but bare-assed is a whole different story.

The Dremora's options didn't make me think of sexual favors, but that's just because "service" isn't a term that gets batted around a lot where I live in reference to sex (although there are plenty of other terms with multiples meanings that bring it to mind for me). Depends on my state of mind really, I always assume the dialogue in Oblivion is non-sexual, it tends to surprise me when it's actually meant to be on rare occasion.

I always sort of equate Dagon as the Elder Scrolls equivelent of the Biblical Devil...basically, he is all about evil, and has no redeeming values. Anybody serving him can only expect to gain anything as long as they prove useful to him, he feels neither loyalty nor caring for his subjects and minions. Not the sort of being any sane creature would voluntarily want to follow...
-
Deadly Reflex only puts blood on the characters when you finish them or attack them with certain special moves. Otherwise, blood goes flying but it doesn't stick on the player weapons or armor.
-
Getting rid of Dreth is satisfying if you get lucky like I once did with Deadly Reflex. My quest to finish him was the first time I witnessed the "hand chop". I thought I was decapitating him and saw the blood spatter, but alas, he was still standing, then I saw the missing hands. To top things off, I did a stationary jab, which resulted in the sweet little maneuver where he doubled over and I chopped off his head. Granted, this will only work if you have the difficulty slider turned up like I did (I wanted to force my thief to avoid fighting by making enemies more difficult to kill). I liked Whodunit the first few times, but the last time, it was almost kind of boring...everyone wandered off to places alone and it hardly took any effort on my part to seperate them. I actually kind of enjoy the finale to the Fighter's Guild quest. My ire really builds toward the Blackwood Company during the course of it, and The overall questline isn't terribly spectacular, for best overall quest storyline, I'd have to give it to the Thieve's Guild. They definitely have the most likeable characters, being the noble underdogs and such.

Your Most Frustrating Oblivion Moments
majikmonkee replied to Spl1nt3rC3ll's topic in Oblivion's Spoilers
This one includes user made mods, but I figure it's worth mentioning. I was playing a certain mod which will remain nameless that took several hours to complete, and although there were several points in the mod that were just plain "broken" and would have made the mod unwinnable without cheats, I perservered until the end. Well, the end featured a battle with a final villain, followed by me being locked in a cinematic scene while a mod related NPC was supposed to "finish off" the final boss. Instead, the NPC ran aimlessly into the wall for several minutes while I remained immobile and eventually grew tired of waiting. I reloaded, fought the final battle again, and same result. I tried changing my positioning and strategy a little bit, and the last time, the scripted "good" NPC totally ran out of the area, nowhere to be seen, while again I was locked in place. Totally ruined all my hard work. Note to modders, if you're going to freeze the player in place and have the end of an entire questline rely on the actions of a PC controlled character, PLEASE make sure their scripting has been tested thoroughly...
