  1. Sorry, I mean whats the folder directory? (i.e. c:\programfiles\foldername\ etc...etc...)
  2. Where is FNV installed and what version is it?
  3. Sound's good, thanks guys. I'll just take it off of the start up programs list...
  4. Definitely devote some time to getting BOSS working. You're using some very common files that BOSS will recognize and reorganize for you... it will often alert you to missing or conflicting files as well. Starting fresh is a healthy thing to do every now and then anyway so more power to you. I'd start with Project Nevada and work my way from there using this. That's what I did and it work pretty well.
  5. Where do you have FNV installed? FNVedit is very simple btw if you're just doing that. Just run it and when the right window is complete right click the left window and select create merged patch. (While the right window is doing its little thing it might stop and show any errors)
  6. I was fussing around with msconfig to find what start up program was slowing down my log in and noticed this for the first time. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer, as described on AMD's website, helps to prevent video performance effects and incorrect timing effects that applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized. So my question is as follows: Is the program necessarily or even harmful to Quad-Core systems? My guess is that this is helpful to all multi-core systems and not just dual-core but I thought I'd ask you helpful folks anyway. (BTW I know this wasn't what was causing my slow log in, it's just how I came to find it)
  7. Here are a few tips that will at least help to rule anything out... - You can start by verifying the game through Steam to make sure nothing was lost along the way. - Also be sure to run BOSS to make sure there are no known conflicts. - Try making a new character just to make sure the glitch isn't save-specific. - You could also post your load order here and see if anyone can spot anything that might have caused it.
  8. - What version are you running? - Where is it installed?
  9. - What version are you running? - Are you using Steam? - Does it do this with others saves/characters? - Are you using any mods?
  10. When I need a new processor my PSU will be the least of my worries
  11. Indeed it would but I figured a little breathing room couldnt hurt if I decided to any extra crap later
  12. Yea if they do, fight them every step of the way. In truth, it makes no difference to them either way and most would rather avoid a fight. Good luck buddy  Yea that's pretty normal even at idle for a gpu like that. Mine (when it was still working) often showed similar temps.
  13. Damn my desktop and my sisters laptop show fan speeds. I dont know man either your computer has no way of monitoring them (which is weird) or something is wrong... I just dont know.
  14. Figured I'd go with this to leave a little elbow room. What do you think? edit: that's supposed to be the 750 not the 650
  15. Well I can hear both running, but I don't know at % capacity. Do you mean like taking it to where i got it/ manufacturer to check? The link I gave will tell you what the speed and temps are... you can anyone to look at it if your not under warranty. I don't recommend opening it up yourself unless you know allot about laptops. I believe I have a 2 year warranty for malfunctions, but if its just dust i don't want to send it off for 2 weeks, that seems excessive, but I do need them to fix my V key that fell of the week after i bought it. I'm gonna check that link now Most warranties I know of are void if you break the seal and open it up. Its up to you.

  17. Running on an Intel G33 chipset and Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 with 6 gigs of RAM. The CPU is still holding up well despite being over shadowed by other more powerful ones on the market like your own and I never peak on RAM so I have not bothered to upgrade to 8. The only two things I need to replace besides the GPU are my inadequate 400 watt PSU and my DVD/CD drive which crapped out on the CD half.
  18. This will tell you what your fans are doing. It could be a fan failure or it could be dust build up.
  19. Thanks for your input Erik! The oven thing is interesting but I think I might as well leave the old boy to die in peace rather than desecrate the corpse. I was looking into upgrading anyway so I might as well slink on by with the integrated graphics until I do. I've already got a new power supply in the bag anyway and I figure I'll stick with Nvidia since they've served me so well in the past. The higher price is worth it, I think. Kudos given to both of you, thanks for your experienced input! Sometimes it just helps to have others confirm your suspicions
  20. Figured as much, I was just surpirsed I could still see anything since the screen is plugged in the GPU and not the motherboard connection
  21. So, hears the story... While playing a game, my screen suddenly seized up and blacked out. When I restarted the computer the loading screen was covered in funky dots and the resolution reset. So immediately go to the device manager and it shows a code 43 on my 9800gt driver. Just to be sure, I uninstall then reinstall the latest drivers and still get nothing. Then, to be double sure, I uninstall and install earlier drivers and still get nothing. I doubted any of this would work since it only happened while playing a game and NOT after an update but I was confused on one particular matter... so I humbly present these questions to you: - How do I even see anything on the screen if my GPU just bit the dust? - Is this normal for a dead GPU? - Could it possibly be something else I'm missing? - Is it even possible for a dust free GPU to just die when not under full load or even being that hot? Your learned knowledge in this field would be greatly welcomed and appreciated. p.s. I know my GPU was an old fart with one foot in the grave. I'm just not financially ready to upgrade yet but I was looking at either this or this
  22. - Are you playing on Steam? - If so are you using the latest patch? - Are using a particular mod manager? - Have you run BOSS? Try running FNVedit and making a merged patch.
