The way I understand it, that is correct. I'm not a lawyer though so I can't tell you 100% for sure one way or the other. Most commercial software is licensed though. You do not own it. The big problem is our legal system hasn't kept up with technological advances. Until that happens we're going to have these stupid rules. The DMCA was one of the worst pieces of legislation passed (besides the Patriot Act, but I'm not going there.. :) ). It took away many consumer rights, which we are slowly regaining. So I take it jailbreaking a Iphone is illegal too.

Read the EULA, which you agree to when installing. If you do not agree to the EULA, then you're technically not allowed to install. EULA's haven't had their day in court yet though. Also, one ruling by a judge only sets a precedence, it doesn't mean that other cases will be rules on the same way. Just for the record, I do agree with you. I think DRM hurts real customers with the intrusiveness. Steam isn't as bad as others, but yes, it is DRM. So from what your telling me I'm not allowed to bypass Fallout 3's DRM or Splinter Cell Conviction's DRM or any DRM just because I don't agree to the EULA?

Not in the US it isn't. DMCA specifically lists bypassing DRM as illegal. If you're not in the US then apply whatever local laws you have. Check the link in my last post. It is as long as I own the game.

I had the first problem the OP had. I just ignored that quest and went exploring. The 2 updates fixed it tho.

As soon as you said "bind it to the 2 key" I had a thought. Why not make it a wheel and have binded weapons like that so that way you can use the mouse to click the weapon.
