The recent one I alluded to below was "aborted connection to skyrim:gems.com because it was infected with HTML...' as below, or so Avast claimed.

Hate to do it, because I know the site makes no money when you use an ad blocker, but they are leaving me with little choice. 50% of the time when I access the site as soon as the ads load, bam: Redirect to malicious sites.

Hi bandygirl1,

If you're getting redirects and you think it may be the ads please report them to us. Although redirecting ads can actually be injected by Malware on your PC in some cases.

I won't disagree that Malware can be the cause at times, but when I can surf any other sites I frequent without problems( and this one too as long as I'm using a browser with an ad blocker ) it's not Malware on my end.
I can't report specific ads either. As I mentioned; The site loads for a second or two before the ads load. As soon as they do, the webpage redirects. Happens about 50% of the time when loading a page here with Edge. So, for now I'm just using Chrome with an ad blocker,

In polish I call them "użyszkodnik" with means literally pest user. But does this mean the user's fault? No because someone else want to rob all of us! This is a lesson for all of us. To defend by yourself and not to count on third party or governments or god knows who else. That's why I suggest to start using stronger passwords, keep them safe in a notebook or remember them.
Ethreon wrote: Uh no.. the user is as responsible for their own data security as is the site. If you use the same password everywhere you have nobody to blame for but yourself.
DaisukeNiwaKun wrote: Why? Using the same password is illegal or something? People remember one thing that user is not responsible for security breach.
Ethreon if hacker would had access to quantum computer and if it were so accurate what people thinks they are.
Then who would you blame then for the security breach? The user who use different 12 letter password for each of his account?
For the record the quantum computer can decode 12 letter password in few seconds in certain conditions.
I would like to make you aware that computers are getting faster and faster and in a few years even a 15-letter password may not be enough
So I am asking who is to blame? User or a Hacker?
ryangjpriorx wrote: first of all if your american, protecting your CC# is easy, not like here in canaderp. Secondly, Use a password manager if your a 'user' who can remember passwords. third, two factor auth protecting service accounts and email account, its a PITA but so is having your s*** stolen.

@ryangjpriorx
Protecting the CC isn't as easy as you think I run a very good firewall at home (pfsense) with everything properly configured updated etc...I ALWAYS make sure every device/computer in my house is clean and properly updated/protected and yet some how some punk 14yr old kid that lives in my city some how got my CC spent 350 on a service called meme live and thought he was going to get away with it.....Moral is don't ever assume one country is more secure than another....that kid ruined his life hes doing mandatory 5 years is banned from all electronic devices/internet till hes 21 when his sentence is up he goes back in if he violates.

*uses the same password across every website* "I can't believe I got hacked" *blames The nexus for getting hacked*

Ppl who use one password for everything are playing with fire, just like people who use easy-to-guess passwords and PIN numbers.

Don't use any personally identifiable information in your passwords, bible verses, famous quotes, lucky numbers, easy-to-guess number combinations (12345, 77777, 6969, birthdays, SSNs, etc.) If someone can go on your social media page and write down everything they know about you and break the password, it wasn't a good password.

What do you want, a badge?
Yet another know it all that thinks everyone should have the same grasp as he, let me tell you something, people are different and and MANY can't remember what they go to the toilet for... not everyone has the same outlook as you.
Of the 20 million folks here a good number of them wouldn't understand what the hell you were talking about, they might not have spacebook, facetube or even read the bible.
You're preaching to those that already understand and others that ain't listening and don't care.
I've used the site for 15 years and I still know nothing.

Sorry to break your bubble but if you are on a modding site. You should more knowledgeable than the average user. So yes, if you use the same password everywhere it's your own damn fault.

Wrong...
working in the mental health industry for a decade gives you a different outlook on peoples understanding and their desires, they are in many cases at very different levels.

Now, I say if you have 20 million peoples details, details that you demand when they join, it should be up to you to keep those safe, not each and everyone that you enticed in.
