  1. In response to post #24644689. #24645379, #24645579, #24645684, #24646054 are all replies on the same post. I've been in forum posts before with "Pharcry" and can tell you this: He is just blunt and to the point. Not trying to be overly 'aggressive'...that's just his style. I read what's been posted here...no words in mouth. That's just his way. Kudos given.
  2. In response to post #24638714. This right here sums it up for me pretty much. I'll adopt a "Wait and See" attitude towards it and just stick with the Nexus....as I've ALWAYS done.
  3. Having some "Legal" experience from my past jobs and current one (entertainment industry) I was able to 'read between the lines' of the aforementioned agreements and knew enough to figure it out. I was right Robin with your latest blog about what I thought. Look, I know people are throwing blame around like dung...everywhere. And I know some of us have had issues here at Nexus (slight) but in the end, my allegiance is with you. Thanks for all you do. Now....go to SPAIN!!!
  4. I'm linking this again because it brings about some very good points of what can happen with this kind of model. I want you all to look at it THEN you can garner some ideas from it as to why some people in the upper echelons of "Nexus" might be concerned. This reporter brings up some very good points. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/04/24/valves-paid-skyrim-mods-are-a-legal-ethical-and-creative-disaster/
  5. This is an interesting read for educating yourselves on some of it. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/04/24/valves-paid-skyrim-mods-are-a-legal-ethical-and-creative-disaster/
  6. In response to post #24603704. #24603984, #24604109 are all replies on the same post. You make a new account and post something like this to Troll. Not the brightest crayon in the box are we? People have the RIGHT to voice their opinions and complain about "Paid Mods" all they wish.
  7. In response to post #24608229. #24608459, #24608944, #24609039, #24609259, #24609439, #24609544, #24609824, #24609959, #24609974, #24610559, #24610884, #24610914, #24612029, #24612584 are all replies on the same post. Robin...not that you'll see this...but take it from someone that's been around for 44 ROUGH years: RELAX!!! You've done so damn much for all of us. You've cancelled your "Spain" trip cause of this, and those of us that can comprehend what we read know/knew what this was all about. People are just in a damn hype cause of all this new 'change' headed their way, and you know how most people feel about any change at all. I'm with you 100% and Chesko....he is/was just lashing out and you were the recipient of that. Scapegoat maybe? Not sure. I support YOU Robin.
  8. In response to post #24596124. #24596224 is also a reply to the same post. Agreed Pickle. Voices have been thundering over this and something like 93% of it is negative.
  9. Nexus and Nexus ONLY for life!!! I refuse to use the "Workshop" as I am not fond of A) Their policies and B) Methods. I don't like Steam 'Auto-Updating' my Mods nor having access to my files in that way. No. I am Pro-Nexus.
  10. In response to post #24595124. #24595439, #24595614, #24595784 are all replies on the same post. Respect to you Azarakos. I just see potential problems from all kinds of areas that will crop up. Kudos your way.
  11. In response to post #24595494. This is what I'm talking about. Mods have already been posted on STEAM that have been stolen from other sites/modder's and taken down. This is a mess.
  12. In response to post #24595124. #24595439 is also a reply to the same post. Yeah I don't get involved in forums talk much. I come here and use Dark0ne's site(s) for all the great mods. I just look at this....and get worried about the direction things are going. I'm truly scared. There have already been mods posted on STEAM this morning that have been stolen and taken down. This isn't going to bode well I think.
  13. In response to post #24594569. #24594769, #24594924, #24594949, #24594964, #24595114 are all replies on the same post. Thanks Robin. Appreciate the information Sir. And to you Brass. Don't want you left out man. Ty. Kudos your way.
  14. In response to post #24594859. Gave you Kudos for that Jim....a bloody mess indeed.
  15. What's REALLY worrying me is say things like "ENB's". We all know them. A lot of us love them. So let's say they start selling "ENB" presets on Steam. These are just 'presets' but ALL of them, as far as I know, require "Boris's" files to work. He has already said "No selling his stuff" (from what I'm gathering from other sources). So I think, as I said, the real stink is going to happen soon.
  16. In response to post #24594569. Thanks Robin for staying on top of things. It means a lot. We're just all a bit miffed and scared about the whole "Valve/Bethesda Mod Selling" venture. I don't think it's still sunk in for me yet. I'm still scared about what the "SKSE" guys/gals are going to say about this whole thing as they have yet to weigh in and SKSE is vital to some of these mods working. I think the REAL stink is about to happen sir.
  17. In response to post #24576794. #24576869, #24577274 are all replies on the same post. Your post still makes sense even without his original as it still talks about what I'm worried about. Keep the post AS IS.
  18. I've personally been responsible for 4 different people buying "Skyrim" on PC when they already owned it on XBOX/PS3 simply for mods. I've shown them my mods in action and have wowed them with that as well as screenshots. 3 of them bought it for $29.99 on STEAM w/all DLC's another bought it for $19.99 if memory serves me correctly. They did it just for Falskar, Undeath, etc. Yeah.....it's blatantly obvious "Mod Makers" sold those games not me. They deserve $$$$ for that (2 of my friends did donate to PayPals). That says something about the power of this community. Valve is just implementing this wrong and in a way that I'm worried about is all. (DMCA being foremost).

  20. In response to post #24575764. #24575884, #24576014, #24576019 are all replies on the same post. Seriously there has been a "donate" button here for ages. I've given. You set yourself up for that question.

I'm on YOUR side. I agree. Modders if they want money and deserve it and CAN get it....okay. I just think better ideas are abounding about how to do it man. Much better ones that won't encourage STEAM/Valve to keep taking every damn chance to milk us for every last damn $$$ we got/get/will get.

Very true. But your statement is still wrong. You've gone from 21 posts today to your current 87. Obviously this is a subject you care about. So, let me just say this once more for your own benefit: I'm NOT against modder's making money. Hell, Bethesda should have paid some of these people out of their own pockets months ago for taking their game and breathing a whole new life into it. I'm looking at/worried about the bigger picture. I'm just that way....far thinking. What I'm afraid of is this will add fire to the current trend of "Pay to Win". An example for you: The Total War Games. Rome II, Attila....all of them have factions. Many in fact. What CA/SEGA does is cuts out the blood, gore, factions, etc. and offers them up as "DLC". Pricey in the long run. This trend needs to stop.

Writers i.e. Script Writers might get away with that. Think someone like "S. King, R.A. Salvatore or numerous other well known authors would settle for that? No. The amount fluctuates and is dependent on many factors.

Dependent on several factors but not limited to: Authors previous works, legal, notoriety, part of a series/contractual, etc. Too many things to list. No, 10% is not even worth the ink.

I work in the "Entertainment Industry" in the 'literature' side of things. Author's don't "Get" less for their books in that capacity. Nor is it "Much Less". You claim to work in the 'industry' and if so cool. But please don't step where you have no knowledge.
