  1. I agree about paw hands - heck, if they had paws they couldn't get dressed in armor, let alone wield swords and bows! Slof's claws are a must - or at least some variation on them. I'd also quite like the inner surface of the hand to retain a "paw print" style pattern, with the palm and parts of the finger as "pads", but that's probably just extra work for something that most people would find adds nothing to the "realism". What MIGHT be fun would be retractable claws ... triggered by emotions, so when a Khajiit's face shows fear or anger, the claws protrude...
  2. We haven't really touched on hands in the mods here - are people generally happy with the existing Khajiit hands, or not? If not, let's see some ideas and then maybe someone can work on them. We also still need modders who can convert Razorpony's work to other body types.
  3. That's what Elys Silent Voice mod does - it uses longer silent mp3s to extend the time the text is on screen - nakes too-fast text perfectly readable. Try it on a mod which lists it as a pre-requisite - both with and without the mod
  4. There is the Obvlivion Voice actor's Guild for people who need voices for their mods. Once you have the text-only version working, using the silent voice mod, then is the time to consider voice acting.
  5. Some of the "lack of broadness" in big cats is the fact they are quadrapedal - the bipedal stance and using "hands" means the shoulder joint and hence chest shape would get modified. However I agree about the "perceived slimness" and so I'm going to be using the BAB female body and a slim Roberts Male variation for my Khajiit when finally installed (assuming that facility from Drake's Argonian mod is used). I'm looking for "modern feline" grace, not the bulkier "feel" of the old sabre-tooth cats. As for face jowls, and the like, that is a separate issue as it's a head mesh and texture change. Feel free to research it and see what exists out there, for everyone's information. The results might be interesting.
  6. Hi Airahn, A group of people are making some changes to the Khajiit and Argionian races, which is involving a fair bit of footwear mesh modding. The work is being done for HGEC body already, but will need modifying for the vanilla body, along with the BAB one and Roberts female. If you feel you could help, have a chat with Razorpony . The thread is at http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/294301-proper-khajit-and-argonian-bodyshapesanimations/ The actual work may be (ok, probably will be) fairly basic, but you'll be part of a team doing something that a year ago couldn't be done - putting proper feet back on the Khajiit and Argonian races. There's also a guy tinkering with Centaurs who may need some torso armors modding.
  7. First - if you installed in the defaul location, use bben46's procedure to move the game to c:\games\oblivion - the UAC may be borking the patch. If you have shivering isles - make sure you tried the SI patch not the Oblivion one
  8. You would set the whole of Windows to use the USB drive in that scenario. BSAs on the fast drive MIGHT help - your mileage may vary.
  9. Now, if you wanted some really good characters to go with it - how about the ones from "Father Ted"
  10. When you remove Streamline, be prepared to adjust various settings back to where they should be. The uninstall of Streamline will NOT remove the adjustments it made to the ini file.
  11. Obl;ivion is big. It starts to overflow available memory pretty fast, even faster without the 3GB patch. At that point it swaps data to virtual memory - a swap file or page file depending on terminology - they can be considered to be the same. That's normally on a spinning hard drive, and is slower to access (by several hundred times at least) than solid state memory. If you use Readyboost (win7), or a swapfile set up on a USB stick (XP/Vista), it's far faster to access than the spinning hard drive, so if data from the swap file is needed (often happens with Oblivion), it is accessed faster and hence less stuttering and more speed. An internal SSD is faster still, but is also vastly more expensive. You leave Oblivion installed on the main HDD, as that just delays loading time and (a little) access to new data files. The swapfile archives the bits of data you use again and again but which won't fit into memory.
  12. The best Goth stuff for males tends to be for Roberts Male Body and is from Slof's Goth Shop. I have no idea which body shape variants she covered when doing it though.
  13. I just checked Amazon (purely for ease of access - there are plenty of other sources for the disk version) and it's still available there. A small heads-up - the Fifth Anniversary edition is out this month, and carries a $10 discount coupon for Skyrim purchase. However, if you want the DLC modules as well, the Steam Deluxe version may well be the best choice.
  14. The simplest solution other than an installer is to use mTES4 manager - given enough disk space it allows a vast number of configs to play with. Very useful during mod testing or development.
  15. You've done the right thing installing on your D drive - the note at the end is for anyone else reading who didn't. However, the rest of this MAY be relevant. Note on patching Oblivion: It depends on whether you have installed Shivering Isles or not. If you have the SI version, you should be applying the English SI patch, NOT the English Oblivion patch. If you just have Oblivion, you should choose either the US or UK patch for Oblivion (depending on where your Oblivion originated), and install that. Once your Oblivion shows v1.2.0416 in the corner of the startup menu, THEN apply the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, and the Unofficial Official Mods Patch if you installed any of them. On a Windows 7 system do NOT install in the default place - install the game to c:\Games\Oblivion as otherwise the UAC gets it's sticky fingers in and mucks all sorts of stuff up, including patching and mods. Read Bben46's guide HERE for how to reinstall the game, including clearing any registry entries that may be wrong.
  16. I guess this is for a modern weapon mod of some kind? A "normal" sniper glove still keeps the thumb covered (eg this one). If it was for archery, you have a different set of finger missing - usually you keep the index, middle and ring finger covered as they take all the wear, and free the thumb and little finger (Example here)
  17. OK, that sounds good to me. I look forward to starting my Khajiit off from scratch - I'm also playing about with night-eye mods to get a more realistic effect. Someone mentioned Khajiit hands/gloves a while back - those could always be added later if enough people wanted them, I guess - but if so hopefully some of them can help with the mesh modding needed.
  18. I guess it's part of where you define the realism point to be. From a purely personal level, having to have items modified to fit a Khajiit or Argonian sounds good - it adds realism (which i love). However, the converse should also happen - if you kill a Khajiit highwayman you should need to convert his gear back to human if you are a human. Armoror level could have an influence - once you reach a certain level you should be able to convert between races yourself. But for most people, "magic self-fitting" boots will allow them to enjoy the gameplay and the visuals without having to get into the deep underlying flaw. I'd suggest the following: (1) Initial release to get the mesh bugs out, using the scripted approach. (2) Once the meshes are all fixed, a second hardcore realism release which uses the same items, but adds in the need for conversion, and maybe the armorer stuff. That way nothing is wasted, and people can select which esp to run to get the desired effect. Does that sound like a good compromise, without wasting any of the work already done on either mesh or scripting?
  19. It could have been worse - you might not have had the Carlsberg to hand :)
  20. Well, just possibly because "My saves will NOT load" doesn't exactly mantion anything that would make the author of the mod think the thread has anything to do with him/her? Like actually putting "Deadly reflex" or DR6 IN the topic title?
  21. You could try rolling back any updates using system restore - but that's a "me grasping at straws" suggestion. ... you haven't got a download manager running have you? They sometimes do odd things after an update.
  22. The problem is not the SOURCE of the game, the problem is that the Impulse version of the game is "protected" and the points in the code which OBSE links to are different, so it cannot work. I'm afraid you'll just have to bit the (financial) bullet and download it fresh from Steam. If you do, get the deluxe version as that has the official DLC files included. And write a snotty letter to Impulse about how you have had to go to one of their competitors to get a version of the game which allows you to play as you wish - you may not get any money back, but if enough people write blunt letters they MAY review their policy someday and allow others to play with mods.
  23. I gave up trying to use the UK server ages back for various reasons, including corrupted downloads and "won't start" downloads. Have you tried the US mirrors just in case?
  24. Firstly, FCOM worked for me when I used their instructions - but then that was a year or so back and the mods were lower version numbers I expect. Secondly, I've also used uFCOM OMOD setup to install - also worked fine - about six months back Thirdly, I have also used the FCOM Superpack about 4 months ago - v4.01 I think it was - and used their instructions, and ended up with a fully working setup (albeit with a few mods I wouldn't have chosen as options). In all three cases I had minimal debugging afterwards - the first time I had missing mesh problems in the tutorial dungeon but that was just the version of OOO I'd used, and a mesh replacer for rusty weapons fixed it. I'm running Windows 7, Oblivion installed to C:\Games\Oblivion, SI, all DLCs, fully patched and fully unofficially patched, before I started. As the quote goes - your mileage may vary.
  25. One thing to check - find an omod file on your PC and check that it has not become associated with Winzip or another archiver. This can cause downloading problems. You can generally tell instantly by the icon being used. Another thing to try is to download an omod from somewhere not using a server script, just a link. Right-click the link, use the save link as option, and tick a box if visible to "always do this with this type of file"
