  1. I redated the entire mod folder for Tamriel Textures Reloaded to yesterday's date. I also redated the bsa for TR data to an earlier date.

That should do it. I don't know why it isn't. That's how texture replacers have worked for a couple of decades now, loose files are used by the game over files in a BSA. That's why MCP redates the base game BSAs, if needed.

  2.

If you use the textures only version then there's no BSA to redate I'm afraid.

Just on changing file dates and times. There's this with Powershell:

Or get a program. I've used "NewFileTime" in the past but its UI isn't great.

I can't recall if Morrowind goes on Create date or Modified date so it maybe better to change both if you ever need to.

I downloaded NewFileTime and changed the create date and modify date on Tamriel Textures Reloaded and it is still using the TR Data textures. I even manually replaced some textures from Tamriel Textures Reloaded and it still doesn't work.

I'm not sure what file you're redating, you said you didn't have the BSA. Regardless. So when you place texture files directly into Data Files\Textures they're not replacing the ones in the BSA? That's not how I remember things working.

  4. Textures of the same name loose in Data Files\Textures or a subfolder will be used by preference over textures in a BSA. So "all" you would need to do would be to rename those replacement textures and put them in the appropriate folder. It's knowing the name and the folder that's tricky.

[Edit: Looks like that mod uses a BSA, if you redate that BSA to a later date and time than TR's then its contents should take precedence over what's in TR's]

  5. If you do make your own mod there could be some things you could use here:

It's a set of modder's resources from andysaurus from years back. I don't know if it's uploaded anywhere else. I just re-packed it from .zip to .7z but apart from that it's the same as from back in 2007.

  6. There's Arcimaestro Antares' "Go to Jail" mod, that expanded the vanilla mechanic and had you working in an ebony mine with a big enough bounty. Not as sophisticated as what you're talking about though.

  7. related question, how to avoid random NPCs getting crazy spells from a mod? since i use a lot of crazy spells... do i get this correct, removing auto calc is the solution?

I think that was the problem with this Bitterwind spell, the enabled autocalc option gave it to all the generic NPCs. I am very out of the loop on Morrowind though.
  8. I've a vague memory of a spell called Bitterwind or something like. Did a massive amount of cold damage and was mistakenly set-up so it could get added to random NPCs. Are you using an unofficial patch, like Patch for Purists? That may fix it.

  9. Looks interesting.

How many mods have been packaged for this? I had a quick look around the linked pages but couldn't see a library.

I maintained the mlox ruleset for a decade or so and there were very, very few other people contributing properly formatted rules. Like three. I think things are better now but I'm pretty out of the Morrowind loop.

  10. Those 3 you list aren't typical plugin-based mods

MCP changes the game's executable, MGE XE hooks into the game when it's running and Better Dialog Font is a .fnt file I think

Chances are Vortex doesn't recognise them. I don't use it, all I've seen are posts like this for many games where Vortex doesn't work right.

I'd say to follow something like one of these, just only use the mods you want to.
