I pirated it. How do I get the latest patch then?

@FreakinSweetAmy; I'd be surprised if you weren't already patched. But if not:

Simply log-in to EA/Origin, right-click on the Inquisition game tile, and select the "Update Game" or "Repair" option.

Buy the game. You can get the GotY edition on Steam for £7 right now.

There is a possibility steam is facing any server side issue so, try re-launching XCOM 2 from the steam, but if still the XCOM 2 mods are not working then delete XCOM 2 Document Files, but avoid deleting the document files completely, instead of this just cut and paste them into some other folder.

    Documents\Games\XCOM 2\XCOMGAME\config folder

Hope after deleting the games files you are all set to play games without seeing the error the XCOM 2 mods not working problem.

So I tried this for my manually installed mods are not showing threw the steam 2k launcher. I got a "could not find Defaultengine.ini forcing shutdown" so I would not advise doing this. I am happy that I saved those files to another folder and just replaced them back. Tried using other launchers to where you can pick your mods and launch but the game goes into "Not responding" and never comes out and launce the game.. Only way I can play WOTC is threw the steam 2k launcher but without the manually installed mods

Just a note if I edit my XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini as described above the mods will work but than I do not get any of my steam mods working (and I have many of them) I know not how to add those to the ini file nor would I try putting so many in. I have tried everything I think I am just out of luck.

I wholeheartedly recommend using the Alternate Mod Launcher. I've been using versions of it since a month or so after XCOM 2 came out.

This appears to only work for Steam, not GOG. It keeps asking me for the Steam version (which I do have, but have no wish to use).

To answer the other user's question on why they've made this so difficult, I believe it's to encourage users to use and buy the Steam version as Firaxis clearly wants to keep a hold and track users and they can't do that on GOG. It's a discouragement tactic on the sly I've seen used several times by game and other companies. It don't stop users from playing a modded game, it simply puts most people off who don't want to go to the trouble.

If they wanted to make it as easy for non-Steam users they could; it would be easy. They simply don't want to, probably due to higher ups and marketing directed them this way. And if too many users find ways around it, they'll make it harder still until no more profit can be made.

Try this to get the AML working without Steam: https://github.com/X2CommunityCore/xcom2-launcher/wiki/FAQ#is-there-a-way-to-use-aml-without-steam

The AML has nothing to do with Firaxis or 2K. It was originally created, back in 2016, when (I think) Steam was the only platform the game was on. I think you're being a little tinfoil hat here.

  3. In Morrowind the unique ID used by Cells is their name. That differs with language. So a mod made for one language version is likely not to work with another. There are translator programs for plugins (like Le Camembérisateur) to convert English plugins to a specific language. I don't know of a Polish one.

I guess you mean "how do I use mods" rather than "how do I make mods"?

All the mods I've used in PoE have had instructions on their download page, all of them are manual install only. I think only one (?), Unnamed Backers, needed IE Mod installed but the rest were all standalone, AFAIR.

Wrye Bash is for Oblivion, btw.

Yeah I figured it out like five mins after I posted this.

I have a tendency to go off half-cocked. Sorry!

Well that's good I'm pleased, but maybe delete your post or edit it as a courtesy next time?

  6. I would kill for a mod that removes travel fatigue - I just want to get where we're going on time without having to stop so damned often!

Only just seen this thread so I'm a little late. I've used Box of Tricks to double (or 1.5x) the amount of time before fatigue kicks in, maybe you could use that mod to remove fatigue entirely or extend the time even further than I have.
