Can magic really compete with traditional weapons?
zombierelic replied to ruvuk's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Yes and no. On one hand, as others have mentioned, using certain combos of spells will make you completely invisible, one hit multiple enemies in a wide range, add insane stats and on the other you can be one hit by a decent bow. I'd say it relies on: Cleverness, preparedness, and a little bit of luck. I rather like that, as, at least for me this is the very essences of the magic users I read about in fantasy novels and so do love playing as. True it can be more challenging but at least to me its better than being a Daedric armored, duel wielding, immune to magic tank. -
As near as I can tell doing the quest only changes a sentence or two. When you first meet him in DB he'll mention something about your character being a champion of his or something like that.

Really? I always thought of them more as Rome but I guess if you really wanted to you can draw parallels to pretty much any nation at any time period.

Using the following Mods in this Load order, I experienced no bugs with the small exception of with FNIS which was easily fixed by removing three files, but it seems that was fixed with the new update. Spoilered due to length.

As odd as it might sound have you tried getting the 3rd texture pack? And at least to me your load order looks a little odd are you using BOSS to sort load order? SkyTEST-RealisticAnimals&Predators. I don't use it and can't claim to know much about it, but from what I saw of what it does it might cause a few problems, but IDK. Also as I mentioned before I've heard the Unofficial patch's cause problems and if it is them you might very well need a clean install/save or wait they until update and fix any problems they may be causing.

You wouldn't like me when I'm bored. (Three hours later) These events are never to be spoken of again and I deeply regret them heh-heh-hahahaha. NC, USA.

What does the above user's signature say about them?

Is it odd that a 27 year old man prefers Pokemon to Skyrim?
zombierelic replied to Jiggalopuff's topic in Off-Topic
I recall reading some where that the main demographic of pokemon was 23+. But hey, as long as its fun who cares last I checked "fun" didn't have a age limit. -
...Rofl. A toast to the master race. The way I see it its a 50/50 chance it'll be the ps4 or some useless junk (I recall some other big company did that a bit ago.). However, I don't believe it'll be the ps3 as from what I've heard they were in a stand off with microsoft, not to mention there current state of decline.

Well, you stated pretty much everything I was going to say lol. But yeah, any game which has a ending that can ruin not only itself but two other previous games with no issues truly takes the cake for me. I quiet literally could have wrote a better ending in thirty minutes while falling asleep.

Playing Dragonborn without being Dovahkiin
zombierelic replied to luddemann's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It isn't, to my knowledge you have to finish the quest where your called to the greybeard's. And no, it really would not make sense as it revolves around the theme of dragonborn/dragons. However you might be able to justify it if you're characters was a Dunmer returning to his homeland or a Deadric seeker. But as I said before unless a mod is released or maybe starting the quest/forcing cultist to spawn with the console you can't get the quest to go there anyways. -
I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional
zombierelic replied to Elsarian's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Have you experienced this at all? Yes. And I can conform it does go away after having completed the main quest. -
I am curious as to what mods you're using. I literally had no problems except three errant animations files, but some of my friends mentioned various problems with certain mods, mostly unofficial update (which I can in no way confirm as I don't use it.) if you supply a list I could probably give you a idea of some of the things causing problems from what I've heard. Also Dragonborn gets boring after lvl 50 or so. You'd be better off doing it with a lower level character anyways.
-
Well for me the only thing I had to do was remove three animation files, other than that no problems but at least from what I hear (and in no way can confirm.) a lot of the problems came from the unofficial patch's which I wait until the final official update to install anyways.

There's nothing wrong with it, it has awesome content, cool new stuff, decent amount of game play, and maybe best of all it "can" be very stable with nearly a hundred mods active I only had to remove 3 files (not mods, minor unimportant files.). But on the other hand for the same price you can buy a full slightly older game (Morrowind or Oblivion for instance.), so at least for me it comes down to how many mods will need it and from what I've seen of the content there will probably be quite a few.

I'm pretty sure its meant to happen since they make a big fuss about the brainwashing, not to mention if thats a bug wow...just wow some serious wires would have to be crossed. -
Just walk in to the water "die", return to the world and you should be able to pick one.

While you do have a good point with the Hannibal example what you're forgetting is he was basically on his own on all but a exodus, the Dominion could scout/map/build supply lines over time. Also you seem to be assuming it all has to happen quickly, any of the things mentioned could happen over the course of years, decades, even centuries. Also as a minor side note you mention they "have" to take the cities to go through Cyrodiil, but at least from what I've seen they could just as easily do a imitation of Genghis Khan and simply wipe out anyone in there path that didn't surrender which they certainly would have only minor issue with having no real threat beside the collapsing/collapsed empire and may even favor due to the racial superiority they seem to be embracing.

While I cant say I know much about the subject I'd recommend modifying the AI in such a way that while they would have minimum usage during certain task. As a example in dynasty warriors quite a few npc simply exist but don't activate until your near or only complete simple task, so in similar vane you could either truly or artificially enhance the "epic" feel by having certain troops with a bare minimum "move/stay/don't activate until *event*" AI to ease the load. Only being seen for a few moments before say flanking out of sight or moving in to some passageway or another which also adds a strategic feel. Having multiple stages. Stage 1 is a simple battle, Stage 2 a trap where the opposing side brings reinforcements from a hidden position, Stage 3 the commander enters the battle with his elite troops from the command tent/room/hill. Or doing something similar to the battle of Kvatch back in oblivion where the city was cut up between multiple sections having many npcs over the whole rather than all in one place. Minimizing things like grass, trees, or even weather. Making custom armor and weapons to lessen the load of have so many on screen npcs.

Starting a fresh install ...what mods should I install?
zombierelic replied to Escoffier's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I second Skyrim Redone and Apocalypse spells, seriously after having used those two I can say both are works of art. SkyUi. Weapons and armor fixes. Kynesguard and Daedra Hunter Weapons & Armor. Isilmeriel LOTR Weapons Collection. Heart of the Beast - Werewolf Sound and Texture Overhaul. Run For Your Lives. No more pesky hero's towns men feeding dragons. UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul. But really if you get even one of these Skyrim redone. Btw to my knowledge none of these are to much more intensive than vanilla. -
I completely dropped the ball on that until you mentioned it. But now that I think about it is odd that such a "private" people were more warm and open (except the guards they were still sarcastic at best.) than much of Skyrim was even after saving the whole place but I guess thats not really a bad thing other than on immersion/lore. Also. Yeah, in vanilla your immortal by that point. But anyways you shouldn't have any real problem, even with my insane hardcore difficulty I didn't have to much of a problem with anything but the final boss fight.

My guess is similar to StayFrosty's. It will be a long way down the road of soon to be "history", where either the Thalmor have already conquered the empire or are about to and basically no one will remember/lived to have told the tales of what happened in skyrim. Much like how they did with the jump between IV-V and every other game. As for the guilds most will probably be in ruins along with the rest of the empire/ex-territories and will likely be rebuilt from the ground up (with no history but hearsay.) to there former glory along with the empire as part of the main quest or at least a side goal in VI. However for the DB and Thief's guild I'd guess they could go one of two way's. Very large and powerful regardless of your choice due to all the upheaval or rebuilt with everything else but with a much more "heroic" light there past deeds long forgot/never recorded after doing much to harm/annoy the Thalmor. So to sum it up war consumes everything and what it doesn't is to busy/to wide spread/just doesn't record history/happened some where to far off.

I loved the Lovecraftian-esque realm's and the feeling of unseen evil and that was about it. The music was good, the armor was something different but nothing too new, and overall it was good. But thats all you can say, it was good but nothing great. At least we can now look forward to a bunch of new mods using all the new stuff.

Depending on the mods you're using that might turn in to a nightmare. With Sky Redone, Deadly Dragons, and such at master difficulty my level 30 pure mage with armor spell/elemental protection enchantments is one shotted quite often by dragon's and even the Seekers can become a big threat, but if your determined I'd recommend going big time in to conjuring or grab a follower to tank. But anyways on topic. I'm half loving, half hating it. I love the Lovecraftian feel of HM realm. But the main villain just doesn't seem all that big a threat. They really needed to add at least a quest or two more in at the start to build him and his action up as more of a threat like his unseen nightmare-ish nature seemed at first, rather than just some mention of unspeakable things and Deadric Lovecraftian-esque books/realms and a few villagers being brainwashed. Or gone completely in the nemesis direction like they seemed to be doing with him just randomly showing up to to steal your dragon souls and calling you weak. By doing both they ruined him in my opinion. To sum up my reaction Evil cult. eh, Ok another one. Boatman. hmm evil cult, and missing memory while traveling to a far off land, not bad. Talking stone, brainwashed people, ancient evil. Awesome Dungeon, evil book, and realm of HM/being told I was out of my league while he's flanked by various horror, returning to defeat said horror's. Epic. Kill a dragon, taunted and souls stolen, quickly due away with talking rocks. He just lost his unseen horror-ness, and is a jerk. More Dwemer. Eh, still cool. More HM, fight dragon, dead shaman. Not bad. "Crap did this part already, they should really fix that to be in a set order." Tame dragon, boss fight. Would have been better if I'd done it in the right order but, oh well still a better boss fight than in Dawnguard. The side quest weren't bad but can be neatly summed up as more of the usual.
